Effects of Cognitive Focus and Affective Focus on Attitude and Buying Intention in DMB Cellular Phone Purchasing (인지초점과 감정초점이 DMB 휴대폰에 대한 태도와 구매의도에 미치는 영향)

  • The present study investigated the effects of focus on consumers' attitudes and buying intentions. For these purposes, researcher compare the attitudes and buying intentions by focus groups after presenting cognitive and affective product informations about a cellular-phone. The results of present experiment were as follow: First, cognitive focus led to highest cognitive attitude and affective focus also led to highest affective attitude. Second, It was highest buying intention in an affective focus and lowest in a non-focus. Third, a cognitive focus resulted in more cognitive words being recalled, by comparison with an affective focus, whereas an affective focus resulted in more affective words being recalled, by comparison with a cognitive focus. But they were not significant. These results show that cognitive and affective focuses lead to different attitudes that differ in their basis. An attitude formed in an affective focus results in a stronger buying intention than an attitude formed in an cognitive focus. The present findings also suggest that the different focus conditions result in different attitudes and buying intentions being formed, and to be diluting but to more enduring effects.

Analysis of a Causal Relationship between Collective Emotion and Behavior to Sport Issues in SNS (SNS에서의 스포츠이슈에 대한 집단감정과 집합행동의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyse a causal relationship between collective emotion and behavior to sport issues in SNS. For the purpose, 5 sports issues with obvious collective behavior and 5 concerned articles in typical portal sites were selected. From those, each 100 comments with highest recommendation and 5 obvious actions made by the crowd were sampled as the analysis subjects. The results of statistical analyses on collective emotion and behavior materials were as follows. First, collective emotions showed differences by the sports issues. Second, there was a significant causal relationship between collective emotion and behavior in SNS. This study could receive a favorable evaluation due to the statistical analysis on a causal relationship between collective emotion and behavior.

Effects of Self Concept on Impulsive Cellular Phone Purchase and Emotional Response (자아개념이 휴대폰 충동구매와 감정반응에 미치는 영향)

  • This study investigated the effects of self concept on impulsive purchase and after-buying emotional response. For these purposes, researcher compared the impulsive purchasing and after-buying emotional response by socially independent-dependent groups in self concept. The results of present research were as follow: First, impulsive purchase led to high after-buying emotional response such as guilt, regret, happiness, but it did not in pride. non-impulsive purchase led to high pride. Second, socially independent self concept led high impulsive purchase. Third, socially independent self concept moderated the effect of impulsive buying on guilt, regret, happiness, but it did not in pride also. These results show that socially independent consumers in self concept purchase cell-phone impulsively and have high guilt, regret, happiness in after-buying emotion. But the low pride would be interpreted that they don't think their impulsive purchases desirable.

  • The purpose of this study was to empirically investigate the emotional dynamics among sport issues, social structure changes and collective behaviors with time-series analysis. For the purpose, the doping scandal of Tae-Hwan Park was chosen and simplified into 10 episodes. And replies and articles on them were analysed by time-series analysis. As the conclusions, first, there was a clear causal relationship between sport issue and sport emotion. Second, sport emotion was a social being which interacting with social process. Third, the sport emotional dynamics was confirmed. With this study, the sport emotion dynamics was empirically verified, but more statistical approaches would be needed for stronger evidences.

The Effect of Emotion Coaching Group Counseling Program on Subjective Well-being and Interpersonal Rtions of University Students (감정코칭 집단상담 프로그램이 대학생의 주관적 안녕감과 대인관계에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the effect of group counseling program through emotion coaching on the subjective well-being and interpersonal relationship of university students. The study subjects were 24 students at J university, and 12 students were assigned to experimental group and control group respectively. The emotion coaching group counseling program was conducted for two hours, once a week, ten times in all. The subjective well-being and interpersonal relationship test was conducted before and after the test, and the degree of effectiveness was examined through covariance analysis. As a result of the study, the group counseling program of emotional coaching showed meaningful results in subjective well-being and sub-factors such as life satisfaction and positive emotion. In addition, significant differences were found in communication, openness, and sensitivity among sub-factors of interpersonal relationship. The results of this study were as followed. First, the emotional coaching group counseling program improves subjective well-being by improving life satisfaction and positive emotion, and it was proved that it improves the communication in interpersonal relationship, and helps others to understand and openly communicate.

A Study on the Analysis of Semantic Relation and Category of the Korean Emotion Words (한글 감정단어의 의미적 관계와 범주 분석에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the semantic relation network and valence-arousal dimension through the words that describe emotions in Korean language. The results of this analysis are summarized as follows. Firstly, each emotion word was semantically linked in the network. This particular feature hinders differentiating various types of "emotion words" in accordance with similarity in meaning. Instead, central emotion words playing a central role in a network was identified. Secondly, many words are classified as two categories at the valence and arousal level: (1) negative of valence and high of arousal, (2) negative of valence and middle of arousal. This aspects of Korean emotional words would be useful to analyze emotions in various text data of books and document information.

  • This study is to analyze the difference of the post-viewing emotion and behavior of the audience at a dance performance by general characteristics of the audience. To attain the goal of the study described above paragraphs, the audience of dance performance located in Seoul and Kyoungki-Do was set as a collected group. Then, using the convenience sampling method, finally drew out and analyzed 280 people in total. statistic analysis techniques were used SPSS 18.0 program. Based on the statistical methods above, we had the result of data analysis as follows; First, among the general characteristics(job, viewing frequency, dance experience, and genre), had significantly effect on the post-viewing emotion(positive emotion, satisfaction) Second, among the general characteristics(job, viewing frequency, dance experience, and genre), all the factors had significantly effect on post-viewing behaviors(researching, respectating intention).

An Empirical Study for the Effects of Game Characteristics on Emotion and Customer Satisfaction in Game Portal Site (게임 특성이 게임포털 사이트에 대한 감정과 고객만족에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • Since the players in online games seek fun, emotional aspects may be important factors in the pleasure-oriented information systems. This study attempted to verify the effects of characteristic factors of games (fun, challenge, compensation, and diversity) on emotion and customer satisfaction in game portal sites. The study established the research model on the foundation of precedent researches related to online games, emotion, and customer satisfaction. The study conducted online and offline survey on individuals with experiences in using online game portal sites. 206 samples were used to test the research hypotheses. By using Structural Equation Modeling, The study found the following results. First, it was revealed that characteristics of games had positive effects on emotion in game portal sites and indirect effects on user satisfaction. Second, the study analyzed the difference between low user group and high user group. It was revealed that the characteristics of games had positive effects on emotion in the low user group, but only challenge factor influenced on emotion in the high user group.

Does Story Enhance Social Cognitive Ability? Associations between Working Memory and Perspective Taking Ability (이야기는 사회인지능력을 향상시키는가? 작업기억과 관점채택 능력과의 관계)

  • This study was to examine association between working memory and social cognitive ability, and the influence of story-use on social cognitive ability. To this end, this study measured working memory(via n-back), and randomly assigned 82 participants into three groups(5th level intentionality, 3rd-level intentionality, and exposition conditions), and then compared the accuracy of perspective taking and emotion recognition(RMET: Reading Minds in the Eyes Test) as social cognitive ability. The results suggested that perspective taking accuracy was significantly associated with working memory capacity, whereas emotion recognition accuracy was not. Contrary to the hypothesis, perspective taking in the 5th-level intentionality story group were significantly lower than those in the 3rd-level intentionality story group. Emotions recognition accuracy was not significantly different among the three groups. Overall, this study produced inconsistent results, which has been discussed in terms of theory and methods.

Derivation of Representative Emotions Through Analysis of Perceived Frequency Profiles of Various Emotions According to Levels of Cognitive Well-Being (인지적 안녕감 수준에 따른 다양한 감정의 지각된 빈도 프로파일 분석을 통한 대표 감정 도출)

  • This study determines whether the perception of the frequency of experiencing positive, negative, and surprise emotions changes according to the level of cognitive well-being. Furthermore, we determined practical means to analyze which emotions can be managed in daily life as an effective means of improving overall life satisfaction by identifying representative specific emotions that strongly predict the level of cognitive well-being. To this end, the between-subjects factorial design is adopted to measure the frequency of emotional experiences according to the level of cognitive well-being in 438 university undergraduate students. For cognitive well-being, the life satisfaction scale (SWLS) was used, and the PANAS-X scale was used to measure emotional frequency. As a result, first, the group with high cognitive well-being displays a higher frequency of positive and surprise emotional experiences and a lower frequency of negative emotional experiences than the group with low cognitive well-being. Second, the results confirm that representative emotions affecting cognitive well-being included 8 positive emotions, 7 negative emotions, and 1 surprise emotion. Among them, positive emotions include "happy" and "confident," negative emotions include "dissatisfied with self" and "disgusted with self," and surprise emotions include words such as "amazed." Therefore, we can conclude that the representative emotions are those with the greatest influence on cognitive well-being. Therefore, increasing the frequency of specific emotions (e.g., happy, confident, and surprise) and decreasing the frequency of others (e.g., dissatisfied with self and disgusted with self) could be effective in improving cognitive well-being than unconditionally examining emotions experienced in daily life.
