  • Three species of micromoths, Acria emarginella Donovan, 1806 (Peleopodidae), Yponomeuta cinefactus Meyrick, 1935 (Yponomeutidae) and Depressaria leucocephala Snellen, 1884 (Depressariidae) are reported for the first time from Korea. These species were collected at their larval stage on the host plants, and reared until their emergence. Images of larvae, pupae, and adults of all species are given, and the male or female genitalia are illustrated.

  • Two species of Argyresthia, A. subrimosa Meyrick and A. umbrina Liu, Wang et Li are reported for the first time from Korea. The collecting data show that A. subrimosa occurs in two remote islands, Ulleungdo and Jejudo in the country. These two local populations are compared with each other in external and genital morphology. Argyresthia umbrina is first recorded outside the type country, China. Photographs of the habitus and genitalia are provided for the two species treated here.

First report of Saridoscelinae (Lepidoptera, Yponomeutidae) in Korea with New Records of Saridoscelis kodamai Moriuti from Korea and China (한국과 중국에서 미기록종 Saridoscelis kodamai Moriuti 및 Saridoscelinae아과의 국내 첫 보고)

  • An yponomeutid species, Saridoscelis kodamai Moriuti, is recorded from Korea and mainland China for the first time. Saridoscelinae are first recorded in the Korean fauna. Photos of external and genital features are provided for S. kodamai. Occurrence of S. kodamai in Korea is discussed in relation with the flight time and the distribution of their host plants.

  • Saridoscelis sphenias Meyrick is reported for the first time from Korea. It represents the second species of Saridoscelinae in the country. The external appearance and male genitalia of S. sphenias are described and illustrated. Records of this species in Korea bring a concern as a pest species to domestic blueberry cultivations.

  • B. mandarina of Korean population apparently differs B. mori in isozyme analysis. Fourteen polymorphism occurred B. mandarina not in B. mori at 6 isozymes, Bph, Bes, Amy-hc, Ies, Ict-D, Ict-E. Korean population has shared with the Korean native strain of B. mori in B genotype of Bes, F of Amy-hc, n of Ict-E, M and S of Ict-H. These 5 genotype were known that detection only Korean native strains of B. mori. Nei's genetic distance based on the genotype of isozyme and hemolymph protein using 4 populations of B. mandarina varied from 0.0350 to 0.0624. The distances of 0.0350 is between Jinju and Chilgok population and between Jinju and Kosung population has the largest distances, 0.0624. In genus of Bombyx, B. mandarina and B. mori, genetic distance varied from 0.3822 to 0.5074. Phylogenetic tree obtained using the subprogram UPGMA of NTSYS represented that Bombyx devided two group, B. mandarina and B. mori. B. mandarina has genetic differences according to the population within the Korean peninsula, but that was not recognized genetic variation or divergence considering low values of genetic distance.
