An Analysis on the Educational Needs of the Career Education according to the Career Recognition of the Undergraduates (대학생의 진로인식에 따른 진로 교육 요구도 차이 분석)

  • The purposes of this study is to investigate the influence of career recognition upon career development competencies and educational needs. To achieve this, the survey was carried out and 362 undergraduates participated. The findings of the survey were shown as follows: First, the students perceived that career management was needed the most, and then came career information searches. Next, career transition technologies, positive self-concept formation, career planning, and effective interpersonal relationships were in order. Second, the influence of career recognition upon the level of the preparations showed statistically significant differences, however, the influence of career recognition upon the level of the requirement did not reveal statistically significant differences. Third, the rating of the educational needs was identical from the first place to the third, but different from the fourth to the sixth. These results will contribute to enhancing the efficiency of career education.

The Influence of Cultural Program Commitment on Career Perception & Development of Children and Adolescents Using Local Children Centers' Services - The Mediating Effects of Self-Efficacy Moderated by Social Support (지역아동센터 이용 아동·청소년의 문화프로그램 몰입이 진로인식 및 진로발달에 미치는 영향 - 사회적지지에 의해 조절된 자기효능감의 매개효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of self-efficacy moderated by social support in the influence of local children's center cultural program commitment on career awareness and development of children and adolescents using Local Children Centers' Services. For this purpose, the questionnaires of local children's center cultural program commitment, career awareness and development, social support, and self-efficacy was conducted to 190 elementary school students in the 3rd grade and middle and high school in 22 children's centers in N city. The statistical packages were SPSS PC+ 25.0 and SPSS MACRO. The main results are as follows: First, cultural program commitment had positive correlation with self-efficacy, social support, career awareness and career development. Also, self-efficacy had a positive correlation with social support, career awareness and career development, and social support had a positive correlation with career awareness and career development. Second, the hypothesis model was supported that cultural program commitment positively affects career awareness mediated by self-efficacy moderated by social support. In other words, the more they participated and commited in cultural programs, the more self-efficacy increased leading to more career awareness. Also, the more social support was felt, the more the positive influence of cultural program commitment on self-efficacy increased.   • We have developed art and career convergence class for career recognition through drawing a neighborhood job map. Thus, we want to expand the students' career recognition. 3 Classes were conducted in 16 elementary school students from 5th to 6th. Through pre & post-questionnaire, and the interviews with the students' work, job recognition with job value and job prejudice, self-understanding and career attitude were analyzed. As follows. First, students' job recognition was expanded. The ability to identify the needs, values and purposes of jobs has improved. Changes in job values that all jobs are worth have occurred and job bias has changed. Second, the career attitude changed on the basis of self-understanding. Thus, in the context of deciding the job demanded by the society rather than the student's will, art and career convergence class was effective in career recognition.

Mediating Effect of Career Adaptability in the Relationship between Strengths Knowledge and Occupational Engagement of Nursing Students (간호대학생의 강점인식과 진로관여행동: 진로적응성의 매개효과)

  • This study aims to investigate the mediating effect of career adaptability in the relationship between strengths knowledge and occupational engagement for nursing students. The participants of this study were 284 nursing students in three Universities in G City, J Province. Data analysis used descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis. Also mediation analysis was performed according to the Baron and Kenny method and Sobel test. The career adaptability showed a partial mediating effect between the strengths knowledge and the occupational engagement(Z=6.66, p<.001). The positive the strengths knowledge(β=.24, p<.001), the higher the career adaptability(β=.49, p<.001), the higher the occupational engagement level, and the explanatory power to explain occupational engagement was 47%. In order to increase the level of career engagement of nursing students, specific behavioral strategies for fostering career adaptability as well as cognitive guidance strategies that enable individuals to recognize their strengths in career-related education and counseling are needed.

Affecting Factors of Career Satisfaction Perceived by Senior Nursing Students (일 전문대학 졸업학년 간호학생의 진로만족 영향요인)

  • This study was undertaken to investigate the degree of career satisfaction and its affecting factors for senior nursing students. The subjects were 131 senior nursing students from one college located in Seoul. The data analyzed by using SPSS-WIN 18.0 program. Career satisfaction showed a significant positive correlation with recognition of career related to major(r=.690, p<.001), learning preference related to major(r=.666, p<.001), participation of activities related to major(r=.537, p<.001), major performance(r=.231, p=.008), concentration of major(r=.508, p<.001), intrinsic motivation(r=.357, p<.001), problem solving ability(r=.452, p<.001), satisfaction of laboratorial practice(r=.476, p<.001) and satisfaction of clinical practice(r=.410, p<.001). In addition, recognition of career, learning preference, participation of activities, concentration of major, and satisfaction of laboratorial practice were significant predictors to explain career satisfaction(63%). It is necessary to develop an effective career guidance program to improve career satisfaction considering these findings.

  • The purpose of this study is to compare men and women's different perceptions on Women engineers' career barriers. In order to achieve the purpose, we initially analyzed various references on perception of career barrier, and organized survey questions. We used the context from Sung sik Lee's doctoral dissertation(2007) and modified it for making survey questions. We conducted a survey with 691 senior students of engineering department around the capital. As a result of the study, male students seemed to be more positive about women's career barriers (social/interpersonal, attitudinal, and interactional barriers). It represents that male students evaluate highly on women's ability and also feel less sensitive about social discrimination toward women's position. In consequence of group interview, it is also revealed that women engineers understand well about difficulties of being female at any workplace.

  • This study explores the possibility and development plan for science career education in the lower grades of elementary school. Accordingly, science career education programs were developed and applied. We investigated changes in perception and interest in science before and after the programs, and analyzed surveys, research journals, student worksheets, and interview records. Science career education programs for lower-grade elementary school students have a positive effect on the perception of scientists and science. Moreover, they influence students' interest in science. Lastly, students' perception of this program was positive and gave high marks to all parameters such as interest, participation, and understanding of the program.

A Comparative Study on the Awareness of between Students and Teachers on the Actual Condition of career Guidance at Vocational High Schools (전문계 고교 진로지도 실태에 대한 학생과 교원의 인식 비교 연구)

  • The purpose of this research is to provide basic materials in developing an efficient career guidance method of Vocational High Schools on the basis of analyzing awareness differences in students, teachers and between students and teachers as well as awareness differences according to a position of teachers in terms of the actual condition of career guidance and improvements with the target of students and teachers at Vocational High Schools. The survey was carried out by targeting students and teachers at Vocational High Schools in the Seoul Metropolis. The results of this research are as follows. First, it appeared that the awareness of students on the career guidance level of Vocational High Schools is insufficient, and students answered that employment guidance is more insufficient compared to educational guidance. In addition, the awareness of students on the career guidance conditions appeared to be generally insufficient. Second, in case of awareness of teachers on the career guidance conditions of Vocational High Schools, teachers answered that arrangement of teachers in full charge of career guidance, career counselling room, securing and utilization of latest career information and information search systems capable of using the internet for career guidance are sufficient, whereas they answered that time for career guidance, operating budget of a career counselling room and linkage with external institutions are insufficient. Third, they answered that career guidance conditions are generally sufficient in the order of a principal, vice-principal and teachers. The principal is cognizing that career guidance conditions are sufficient all question items, and the vice-principal answered that career guidance conditions are insufficient in only operating budget of a career counselling room and linkage with external institutions. Teachers answered that career guidance conditions are insufficient in only time for career guidance, operating budget of a career counselling room and linkage with external institutions. In addition, compared to teachers, the principal was cognizing that career guidance conditions are sufficient except operating budget of the career counselling room through analysis of awareness difference among principle, vice-principle and teachers. Fourth, students answered that career guidance conditions are insufficient in all question items, but teachers cognized that career guidance conditions are sufficient in all question items excluding time for career guidance. Among them, what showed a difference of the biggest awareness was analyzed as information search systems capable of using the Internet.

The Effects of Strengths Knowledge and Self leadership of Clinical Practice on Career Preparation Behavior in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 강점인식과 셀프리더십이 진로준비행동에 미치는 영향)

  • This study is a descriptive survey research attempted to verify the effects of strengths knowledge and self leadership on career preparation behavior in nursing students. The subjects of this study were students enrolled in Department of Nursing in G city. Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation analysis and controlled regression analysis were used for data analysis. The results of the study are as follows. Strengths knowledge(𝛽=.464, p<.001), self leadership(𝛽=.512, p<.001) showed a positive effect on career preparation behavior. The study model accounted for 34.1% of career preparation behavior. These findings suggest that measures to increase strengths knowledge and self leadership are needed to promote career preparation behavior of nursing students.
