The satellite is exposed to the severe vibration environments such as random vibration environments such as random vibration, acceleration, shock, and acoustics during launch ascent and transportation. It is also faced with various space environments such as thermal vacuum, radiation and microgravity during the mission life. The satellite should be designed, manufactured, assembled and tested to be able to endure in these harsh environments. This paper addresses the results of the structural and thermal design and analyses for the HAUSAT-1 picosatellite which is scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2005 by Russian launch vehicle "Dnepr". The qualification vibration and thermal vacuum tests have been conducted and passed at the satellite level to ensure that the HAUSAT-1 mechanical system was designed to be stable with enough margin.

Ride comfort of a vehicle can be utilized to maintain the track geometry and track irregularities because ride comfort of the rolling stock is affected by the characteristics of the vehicle and track. Ride comfort was evaluated according to the measured floor acceleration data of vehicles for a Korean high speed line as well as European high speed lines using Continuous comfort method which can be applied to track maintenance. The exceedance distribution of the ride comfort was quantitatively analyzed by the vehicle speed, the ride comfort of the Korean high speed line was compared with that of European high speed lines. It is shown that the ride comfort of Korean high speed line is better than that of European high speed lines, which indicates that the Korean track geometry and track irregularities are properly maintained.
We have transferred highly stable 100 MHz RF through a 23 km fiber network. The fiber-induced phase noise due to the vibration and the temperature fluctuation in the optical path is detected and is compensated by configuring a noise-canceling servo. The transfer instability was $6{\times}10^{14}$ at 1 s of averaging time and $2{\times}10^{-17}$ at 10000 s of averaging time. The single sideband phase noise was greatly reduced by more than 20 dB below the Fourier frequency of 1 kHz. The transferred RF has nearly the same stability as the original reference frequency.

The surface of particles was energetically modified by inter-grinding OPC and BFS in vibration mill for improvement of the early strength and low-heat evolution of concretes. BFS was pre-grinding in ball-mill to 2535(BS2) and 3245 $cm^2/g$(BS3), in blaine surface area. The inter-grinding time in vibration mill was changed from 10 minutes to 30 minutes. And Mixing ration of BFS to OPC was changed in 60, 70, 80%. After inter-grinding, the change of specific surface area, particle size distribution, hydration heat of cement and compressive strength of mortar were measured. As the result of comparison test with LHC, it was found that the mixture and inter-grinding time satisfying the value of over 100% of compressive strength for 7 days and under 170J/g of heat of hydration for 72 hours. and it was confirmed that the possibility of low heat slag cement utilizing blast furnace slag(BS2, BS3) with the low fineness in high volumes.
The objective of this study was to estimate the vibration reduction capacities of a floating track system using a resilient rubber mat, and to compare the results with the track support stiffness and track impact factor of a conventional slab track system by performing field tests using actual vehicles running along a service line. The theoretically designed track support stiffness and track impact factor were compared with the measured track support stiffness and track impact factor for each tested track. The calculated and measured track support stiffness of the floating track system were found to be similar, and the floating track system satisfied the design specifications of the track impact factor. The overall vibration level and track support stiffness of the floating track system were thereupon found to be significantly lower than those of the conventional slab track system. The experimental results thus showed that the vibration reduction effect of the floating track system is greater than that of the conventional slab track.

In centralized control system, complicated control systems including sensors, power supply and dampers should be required to satisfy the target response of large-scale structures. The practical applications of the centralized control system, however, is very difficult due to high order finite element model of structures, uncertainty of models, and limitations of the excitation system. In this study, the decentralized response-dependent MR damper of which magnetic field is automatically modulated according to the displacement or velocity transferred to the damper without any sensing and computing systems. this decentralized response-dependent MR damper are investigated according to the ranges of relative magnitude between the control force of MR damper and the story shear force of structures by nonlinear time history analysis. Finally, its performance is compared with centralized LQR algorithm which is used in general centralized control theory for a three story building structure.

Usually piston or rotary engines are installed at UAV's under 100 kg payload class. Those engine are less expensive and easy to get, but they require higher operating and maintenance costs due to shorter life and unique fuel usage. They are also too noisy to operate in urban area and have too strong vibration to carry sophisticated payloads. On the contrary, a gas turbine engine has drawbacks like higher specific fuel consumption and weight to power ratio, even it has many operating and maintenance benefits. This study aims to design a small turboshaft engine with a recuperator to overcome those demerits. A tilt rotor UAV(TR-60) developed by KARI was chosen as an imaginary target aircraft, and engine power and size were derived from it. This paper describes engine requirements, design process, and initial reference point cycle design.

To utilize the survey method using the geodetic satellite GPS, we tried to analysis the GPS/Leveling and the geopotential model of the 26 GPS observation points including 23 BM and 3 triangulation points with approximately 16-km interval selected from the Andong geographic map with a scale of 1:250,000. The average deviations of the geopotential model calculated from the results of analysis to the GPS/Leveling and the previously developed geopotential models(EGM96, OSU91A, and KGEOID), are 0.493 m, 0.277 m, and 0.195 m, respectively and RMS errors are $\pm$0.299 m, $\pm$0.152 m, and $\pm$ 0.133 m. The general trend of geoid undulations, however, shows an increasing pattern to the NW-SE direction. It has been also reported that the geoid undulation related with topographic-highs and geoid-highs although very poor relationship is shown in this area.
The ride comfort is more important according to train speedup. Generally it is defined as the vehicle vibration. There are many studies on evaluation method of ride comfort for railway. But the ride comfort for Korean high speed train (HSR 350x) has been assessed by statistical method according to UIC 5l3R. In this paper, the ride indices, which were measured in the Korean high speed train. have been analyzed and reviewed by using the inferential statistics such as t-test, variance analysis (ANOVA) and regression analysis.
Background: Compared to healthy people, patients with chronic lower back pain have reduced balance abilities which may cause proprioception problems, patients with chronic lower back pain avoid physical activities due to pain, and reduced activity levels lead to muscle weakening, which can further exacerbate pain. Recently, there have been many studies on the use of sensory stimulation; and among these studies, interventions that use vibrational stimulation have shown functional improvements in the patients. Objects: This study examined the effects of a stabilization exercise with vibration stimulation on the balance ability and disability in patients with chronic back pain. Methods: The subjects of the study were 30 persons who were randomly assigned to the experimental group and the control group, with 15 subjects in each. The subjects were evaluated before and after intervention via a balance ability test, the Korean Oswestry disability index (KODI) test, a pain test, and a proprioceptive sensory test. Both groups received general physical therapy. The experimental group performed the stabilization exercise with vibration stimulation, and the control group performed a general stabilization exercise, three times a week for six weeks. Results: After the intervention, both groups showed significant improvements in the balance ability test, the KODI test, the pain test, and the proprioceptive sensory test. The experimental group showed statistically significant, higher improvements than the control group in the balance ability test, the KODI test, and the proprioceptive sensory test. Conclusions: The stabilization exercise with vibration stimulation for patients with chronic back pain has been reported to provide greater functional improvements than the conventional intervention method. Therefore, the stabilization exercise in a vibration stimulation environment could be a useful intervention for patients with chronic back pain.
