직접 분사식 소형 과급 디젤엔진의 운전조건이 배기 배출물에 미치는 영향 (An Effect of Operating Conditions on Exhaust Emissions in a Small Turbocharged D.I. Engine)

  • Recently, the world is faced with very serious problems related to the air pollution due to the exhaust emissions of the diesel engine. So, many of researchers have studied to reduce the exhaust emissions of diesel engine. This study was investigated for various exhaust emissions according to operating conditions in a turbocharged D.I. diesel engine. As a result of experiments in a test engine, the $CO_2\;and\;NO_x$ increased with increasing load, the $CO_2$ and CO decreased with increasing charge air pressure in manifold, the CO decreased with increasing cooling fresh water temperature, and the $NO_x$ decreased with worming cooling fresh water before engine start.

  • Recently many researchers have been studying the development of alternative energy due to serious environmental pollution and drying up fossil energy. Among various alternative fuels, authors investigated the physical and combustion characteristics of the bio diesel fuel(BDF) which was made from the wasted vegetable oil. In this study, PXI and LabVIEW, which is a novel measuring instrument and online analysis, was used to investigate the combustion characteristics of BDF in a DI diesel engine.

  • Biodiesel is technically competitive with or offers technical advantages over conventional petroleum diesel fuel. Biodiesel is an environmentally friendly alternative liquid fuel that can be used in any diesel engine without modification. In this study, to investigate the effect of fuel injection timing on the characteristics of performance with DBF in DI diesel engine. The engine was operated at five different fuel injection timings from BTDC $6^{\circ}$ to $14^{\circ}$ at $2^{\circ}$ intervals and four loads at engine speed of 1800rpm. As a result of experiments in a test engine, maximum cylinder pressure is increased with leading fuel injection timing. Specific fuel oil consumption is indicated the least value at BTDC $14^{\circ}$ of fuel injection timing.

  • Spray impingement model and fuel film formation model were developed and incorporated into the computational fluid dynamics code, STAR-CD. The spray/wall interaction process were modelled by considering the change of behaviour with surface temperature condition and fuel film formation. We divided behaviour of fuel droplets after impingement into stick, rebound and splash using Weber number and parameter K. Spray impingement model accounts for mass conservation, energy conservation and heat transfer to the impinging droplets. A fuel film formation model was developed by Integrating the continuity, the Navier-Stokes and the energy equations along the direction of fuel film thickness. The validation of the model was conducted using diesel spray experimental data and gasoline spray impingement experiment. In all cases, the prediction compared reasonably well with experimental results. Spray impingement model and fuel film formation model have been applied to a direct injection diesel engine combustion chamber.

  • It is well known that the combustion phenomenon of diesel engine is an unsteady turbulent diffusion combustion. Therefore, the combustion performance of diesel engine is related to a complex phenomenon which involves the various factors of combustion, such as a injection pressure, injection timing, injection rate, and operation conditions of engine. In this study, the spray and the flame development processes in a single cylinder D.I. diesel visualization engine which uses the electronically controlled injection system were visualized to interpret the complicated combustion phenomenon by using high speed CCD camera. In addition, the cylinder pressure and heat release rate were also obtained in order to analyze the diesel combustion characteristics under several engine conditions.

LPG/바이오디젤 혼합연료를 사용하는 직접분사식 디젤엔진의 성능 및 배기특성에 관한 연구 (Study on the Performance and Emission Characteristics of a DI Diesel Engine Operated with LPG / Bio-diesel Blended Fuel)

  • 본 연구에서는 LPG/바이오디젤 혼합연료의 직접분사식 디젤엔진 적용성에 관한 실험을 수행하였다. 특히, 혼합연료를 엔진에 적용하는 경우 엔진성능, 배출가스 (미연탄화수소, 일산화탄소, 질소산화물, 이산화탄소), 연소안정성에 대한 실험을 1,500 rpm의 엔진회전수 조건에서 수행하였다. 바이오디젤은 질량대비 20-60% 범위로 LPG에 혼합하였다. 바이오디젤을 40% 이상 혼합하는 경우 엔진은 모든 부하영역에서 매우 안정적으로 연소되었다. 바이오디젤의 혼합율이 증가할수록 혼합연료의 세탄가가 향상되어 연소시작 시점이 진각되었다. 혼합연료를 사용하면 저부하에서는 과혼합에 의한 부분연소로 인하여 THC와 CO의 배출량이 급증하였으며, NOx의 경우 저부하에서는 배출량이 디젤연료에 비해서 낮았으며 고부하에서는 더 많이 배출되었다.

  • 자동차배출가스는 이산화탄소($CO_2$)에 의한 지구온난화 및 탄화수소(HC)와 질소산화물($NO_x$)에 의한 오존 생성을 야기하는 등, 인체와 환경에 나쁜 영향을 미치기 때문에 이에 대한 관심이 증폭되고 있다. 가솔린 직접분사 (Gasoline Direct Injection; GDI)엔진은 디젤엔진과 같이 연소실내에 연료를 직접 공급하는 방식으로서 가솔린엔진의 취약점으로 지적되어 오던 높은 연료소비율 문제를 획기적으로 개선할 수 있는 기술로 평가되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 분무유도방식(Spray-guided type)의 GDI엔진을 이용하여 공기과잉률 2.0 이상의 초희박 연소를 통해 연료소비율을 개선하였다. 추가적인 연료소비율 개선 및 배출가스 저감을 위해 희박연소시 다단 분사전략과 Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR)을 적용하였다. 배출가스 수준과 운전성능을 평가하고 이를 배출가스 규제와 비교 검토함으로써 국내 관련기술 개발 방향 및 상용화 가능성에 대해 검토하고자 하였다.

  • Biodiesel fuel(BDF) which is easily produced from vegetable oils such as soybean oil and rice bran oil can be effectively used as an alternative fuel in diesel engine. But biodiesel fuel can affect the performance and emissions in diesel engine because it has different chemical and physical properties from diesel fuel. To investigate the combustion characteristics of biodiesel fuel as an alternative fuel for D.I. diesel engine, the experiments were carried out at the three-cylinder, four stroke D.I. diesel engine with T/C. Experimental parameters adopted a conventional diesel fuel and a blend of biodiesel fuel derived from soybean. As a result of experiments in a test engine, BSFC with blend of BDF resulted in higher than with diesel fuel. The ignition delay decreased with blend of BDF than with diesel fuel.

  • Recently, lots of researchers have been attracted to develop various alternative fuels in diesel engine. The use of biodiesel fuel(BDF) is an effective way of substituting diesel fuel in the long run. But biodiesel fuel can affect the performance and emissions in diesel engine because it has different chemical and physical properties from diesel fuel. In this study, to investigate the combustion characteristics of biodiesel fuel as an alternative fuel for D.I. diesel engine, experiments were carried out at the three-cylinder, four stroke D.I. diesel engine with T/C. As a result, shorter ignition delays were observed for the biodiesel blend cases relative to the diesel oil. The pick value of premixed combustion for the rate of heat release is increased with decreasing C.F.W. temperature.

  • A fuel injection system has an important role in the performance and emission gas in a diesel engine. In this paper, an experimental study has been performed to verify the effect of the performance and the emission gas with the factors such as diameters of an injection nozzle hole, diameters of an injection pipe, and injection timing in the fuel injection system. We have obtained the results that the fuel consumption ratio is reduced and NOx concentration is increased as the smaller diameter of injection nozz1e hole, the smaller diameter of injection pipe, and more advanced injection timing. They show that optimizing the factors of fuel injection system is significant to enhance the performance of the engine system and consumption ratio of fuel, smoke, and NOx.
