A Study on artificial lighting source using X3D (X3D를 이용한 인공조명에 관한 연구)

  • An artificial light source has a character that a light emits from a point to all directions with many radial and straight ray shapes. It is very difficult and complex to render those emitting lights. Also, users have difficulty in expressing exactly 3D objects because of colors varying with changing of a light and having many parameters. In this paper, to solve those problems we design an artificial light source using X3D to create a model that represents easily many radial and straight ray shapes and propose the online system that each factors of colors to be reflected by a light is separated and then users can control them to detect object's colors by a mouse. Various light sources with reality can be easily created using proposed system.

Design of Three-elements CRPA Arrays Using Improved Low-elevation Gain (저고도각 고이득 특성을 이용한 3 소자 CRPA 배열 안테나 설계)

  • In this paper, we propose a three-element CRPA array with improved low-elevation gain. The proposed antenna consists of a feed patch and a radiating patch, and the feed patch is connected by a coaxial cable. The radiating patch is electromagnetically coupled to the feed patch, which allows to improve the low-elevation gain of the antenna. To demonstrate the suitability of the proposed antenna, the antenna characteristics are measured in a full anechoic chamber. The resulting bore-sight gain is 2.8 dBic with an axial ratio of 2.7 dB, and the average gain at the low-elevation direction of $75^{\circ}$ is -1.4 dBic. The results verify that the proposed antenna is suitable for CRPA arrays with anti-jamming capability.

Uncertainty Cases in Economic Evaluation of Back-End Nuclear Fuel Cycle (후행 핵연료주기 경제성 평가의 불확실성 사례)

  • Due to the uncertainties resulting from cost projection, evaluation over long term period, and adequacy of applied discount rate, the economic assessment for back-end fuel cycle is different from each organizations or individuals. In this paper, the features and limitations of some noticeable economic evaluations were investigated and analysed to contribute for the public participation and back-end fuel cycle policy related researches. As a result of analysis, we found that the reprocess and recycling is more economical than direct disposal option, but the result includes high uncertainty that depends on the input parameters.

  • The decommissioning of nuclear power plants is generally executed in five steps, including preparation, decontamination, cutting/demolition, waste disposal and environmental restoration. So, for efficient decommissioning of nuclear power plants, worker safety, effects compared to cost, minimization of waste, possibility of reuse, etc., shall be considered. Worker safety and measurement technology shall be secured to exert optimal efficiency of nuclear power plant decommissioning work, for which accurate measurement technology for systems and devices is necessary. Typical In-Situ methods for decommissioning of nuclear plants are CZT, Gamma Camera and ISOCS. This study used ISOCS, which can be applied during the decommissioning of a nuclear power plant site without collecting representative samples, to take measurements of the S/G Water Chamber. To validate the measurement values, Microshield and the GEANT4 code was used as the actual method were used for modeling, respectively. The comparison showed a difference of $1.0{\times}10^1Bq$, which indicates that it will be possible to reduce errors due to the influence of radiation in the natural environment and the precision of modeling. Based on the research results of this paper, accuracy and reliability of measurement values will be analyzed and the applicability of the direct measurement method during the decommissioning of NPPs will be assessed.

  • In this paper, triple band mobile chip antenna for DCS($1.71{\sim}1.88GHz$) / PCS($1.75{\sim}1.87GHz$) / UPCS($1.85{\sim}1.99GHz$) on PCB Layout is fabricated. As designed and fabricated antenna is loaded PCB layout, that plate a both side at two independence patterns(upper & lower) to reduce the size and a capacitor for DCS, PCS, UPCS band is proposed. The antenna has a small size of about $19mm{\times}4mm{\times}1.6mm$, narrow bandwidth which is the defect of chip antenna is improved. Bandwidth of fabricated antenna to VSWR less than 2 is satisfied and all bandwith is acquired 15.1 % at $1.71GHz{\sim}1.99GHz$.

Preparation and Radionuclide Detection Analysis of Inorganic Fluor Impregnated Double-layered Membranes (이중구조 무기형광 함침막 제조 및 방사성핵종 탐지능력의 분석)

  • New polysulfone scintillation proximity membranes were prepared by impregnating Cerium Activated Yttrium Silicate (CAYS), an inorganic fluor, in a membrane structure. The membranes were applied to detect the radionuclide contamination directly without the aid of a scintillation cocktail. The preparation of membranes was divided into two processes. A supporting polymer film was made of casting solutions consisting of polysulfone and solvent, their cast film being solidified by vacuum evaporation. CAYS-dispersed polymer solutions were cast over the first, solidified polymer films and coagulated either by evaporating solvent or by exchanging solvent in the solution with nonsolvent in a coagulation bath. The prepared membranes had two distinguished, but tight1y attached, double layers: one is the supporting layer of dense polymer film and the other the detecting layer consisting of CAYS and polymer. The radionuclide counting results revealed that the prepared membranes were efficient to monitor radioactivity contamination with reliable counting ability.

  • Dosimetric quantities for 300 keV neutrons in the ICRU standard tissue sphere were evaluated. The Monte Carlo code NEDEP which performs neutron-photon-charged particles coupled transport was used in the direct estimation of absorbed dose and dose equivalent. Some important quantities calculated are as follows; Deep dose equivalent index $H_{I,d}:1.78{\times}10^{11}\;Sv-cm^2$ Shallow dose equivalent index $H_{I,s}:2.08{\times}10^{-11}\;Sv-cm^2$ Ambient dose equivalent $H^*(0.07):1.7{\times}10^{-11}\;Sv-cm^2$ Ambient dose equivalent $H^*(10):1.78{\times}10^{-11}\;Sv-cm^2$ Effective quality factor $\bar{Q}^*(10):12.4$

  • The purpose and need of the study is to quantify the advantage or disadvantage of the environmental friendliness of the partitioning of nuclear fuel cycle. To this end, a preliminary study on the quantitative effect of the partition on the permanent disposal of spent PWR and CANDU fuel (HLW) was carried out. Before any analysis, the so-called reference radionuclide release scenario from a potential repository embedded into a crystalline rock was developed. Firstly, the feature, event and processes (FEPs) which lead to the release of nuclides from waste disposed of in a repository and the transport to and through the biosphere were identified. Based on the selected FEPs, the ‘Well Scenario’which might be the worst case scenario was set up. For the given scenario, annual individual doses to a local resident exposed to radioactive hazard were estimated and compared to that from direct disposal. Even though partitioning and transmutation could be an ideal solution to reduce the inventory which eventually decreases the release time as well as the peaks in the annual dose and also minimize the repository area through the proper handling of nuclides, it should overcome major disadvantages such as echnical issues on the partitioning and transmutation system, cost, and public acceptance, and environment friendly issues. In this regard, some relevant issues are also discussed to show the direction for further studies.

The Characteristic of Hybrid X-ray Sensor for Synchrotron Radiation image (싱크로트론 방사선 영상 획득을 위한 Hybrid 기반의 X선 센서 제작 및 특성)

  • 본 연구는 싱크로트론 방사광의 단색광 (monobeam)을 이용한 영상을 획득하였다. 영상센서로서 CMOS를 사용하였으며 센서 앞단에는 형광체 (phosphor)를 이용하여 방사광에 대한 빛의 신호로서 영상을 획득하였다. 사용된 싱크로트론 방사광의 beam size는 $5mm{\times}2mm$ 이며 ion chamber를 통한 beam intensity 는 $10{\times}10^{-7}$이다. 형광체는 각각 ZnS(Cu:Al), ZnS(Ag,Al), $BiTiO_3$, $Y_2O_2S(Tb)$로서 4가지를 사용하였으며 여기에 사용된 형광체는 기계식 스크린 프린팅 (Screen Printing) 방식으로 직접 제조하였다. 두께는 모두 동일하게 $10{\mu}m$이며 각각에 대한 PL(Photoluminescence)을 측정하여 분석하였다. object로는 물고기와 20linepair를 사용하였으며 CMOS센서를 이용하여 각각의 phosphor에 대하여 영상을 획득하였다. 영상의 평가는 20line pair 영상의 MTF를 이용하였다. 각각의 형광체에 대한 MTF는 5 lp/mm 에서는 0.5650, 0.2150, 0.7890, 0.3840 이며 10 lp/mm 은 0.4500, 0.0900, 0.2510, 0.1500이고 15 lp/mm 는 0.1900, 0.0300, 0.1430, 0.0500이며 마지막으로 20 lp/mm 은 0.0810, 0.004, 0.0500, 0.0320의 MTF 값을 나타내었다. $10{\mu}m$ 두께에 대하여 ZnS(Cu:Al)이 가장 좋은 MTF의 값을 나타내었다.

Design of wideband microstrip monopole slot antenna (광대역 마이크로스트립 모노폴 슬롯안테나의 설계)

  • In the present study, wideband microstrip monopole slot antennas which can be applied to the RF4CE Zigbee remote controller are designed. First I-shaped monopole slot antenna which has ${\lambda}g/4$ length at 2.45GHz is designed. In particular, a conducting via is used to connect the microstrip feed line and the ground plane surrounded with the etched slot for the bandwidth improvement. In order to reduce the antenna size, it is changed into L-shaped and T-shaped monopole slot antennas for which improve results of antenna performance are observed. In case of T-shaped monopole slot antenna, impedance bandwidth(VSWR<2) is about 3.32GHz, and also its radiation efficiency and gain is more than 90% and 2.1dBi respectively at whole operating frequency range. In particular, all of proposed monopole slot antennas have the end-fire radiations which has a maximum radiation power toward direction of open ends of monopole slots.
