Survival Analysis of Battalion-Level Commanders(leaders) Using Big Data as Results of Brigade-Level KCTC Training - Focused on Infantry Battalion Defensive Operations - (여단급 KCTC 훈련 결과 빅데이터를 활용한 대대급 이하 지휘관(자)의 생존분석 - 보병대대 방어작전을 중심으로 -)

  • In this study, we conducted a survival analysis on battalion-level commanders(leaders), focusing on infantry battalion defensive operations using the big data of brigade-level KCTC(Korea Combat Training Center) training results. Unlike previous studies, we utilized the brigade-level KCTC training results data for the first time to conduct a survival analysis, and the research subjects were battalion-level commanders(leaders), which can affect the battle. At this time, the battle results were defined, and through cluster analysis, infantry battalions were divided into excellent, average, and insufficient units, and the difference in the survival rate of the commanders was analyzed through the Kaplan-Meier survival analysis. This provided an opportunity to objectively compare the differences between excellent and insufficient units. Subsequently, factors affecting the survival of commanders were derived using the Cox proportional hazard model, and it was possible to confirm the influencing factors from various angles by also using the survival tree model. Significance and limitations confirmed in the research process were presented as policy suggestions and future research directions.

  • 본 연구는 미래 전장단말기와 무전기간 지휘관(자) 및 무전병 간 유선 연동에 따른 전투행동의 제한사항을 극복하기 위한 방법으로 강구되고 있는 무선(Bluetooth)을 이용한 데이터 전송 방법 중 Bluetooth의 세부 Profile과 전송 효율을 극대화하기 위한 최대 패킷크기, 분할 전송 간 패킷 전송 간격 등을 구체화하여 군 운용적으로 활용이 가능한지를 시험을 통해 검증하였다. 그 결과 Profile은 가장 보편적인 SPP를 적용하고, 응용계층에서 활용 가능한 최대 패킷 크기는 시험을 통해 1KB가 적정함을 확인하였다. 또한, 정지영상처럼 사이즈가 큰 데이터에 대한 분할 전송 간 패킷 전송 시간은 100ms로 설정함이 적절함을 확인하였다. 위 연구결과는 미래 전장단말기와 무전기 간 무선연동에서 즉각 적용이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

The social awareness to be able to build a system to obtain a stable workforce through effective operations for changes in the revival, especially in the Department College of NCO activated mutual development challenges were present.

  • 본 논문에서는 데이터 기반 정보 고도화를 통해, 사격전술지휘 의사결정체계의 Assisted Decision-Maker인 AI 부전포대장을 구현하는 방법론을 제시한다. 전포대장은 지휘결심의 말단에 있는 지휘관으로서, 최종적인 의사결정자이다. 이들의 지휘결심이 보다 견고하고 신속하게 이루어지도록 하는 것이 전쟁 승패에 매우 중요한 요소이다. 화력체계를 언급하는 경우 JMEM 탄약효과가 자주 언급되고 한국형 구축 사업이 아직 진행 중이기도 하지만, 완료되더라도 임의의 지형과 전술상황 각각에 대한 유용성까지를 입증하는 데에는 또 다른 기간과 노력이 요구된다. 본고에서는 AI 플랫폼 구축의 실제 사례가 전무한 상황에서 AI 부전포대장 구축을 위해 필요한 연구의 범위와 그 대상을 살펴보고, 지능형 사격지휘체계의 구축 방안을 제안한다.

Perception of Offender Profiling and its Development Strategies (범죄자 프로파일링에 대한 인식과 발전 방향)

  • Offender profiling, as a crime investigation technique, aims to respond more effectively to violent crimes. However, attitude that police investigators hold toward offender profiling is quite skeptical, which prevents offender profiling from making effective and practical contributions to police investigations. Therefore, the present study explored development strategies of offender profiling by examining perceptions of offender profiling among 156 Korean National Police University students. Furthermore, a total of 166 students from other universities also participated as a control group. As a result, participants showed positive attitude toward offender profiling, in terms of its necessity, effectiveness, and reliability. However, they believed that Korean police agencies are not making the good use of offender profiling and that profilers are not necessarily taking the lead in solving cases. In terms of the profiler education, the majority of the students who showed interest in becoming a profiler did not know what to learn and how to prepare for becoming one. Finally, limitations of the present study were discussed and suggestions for further research were made.

A Study on Development of Oil Spill Response Training Courses in Korea (우리나라 유류오염 방제교육과정 개발에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, the author carried out the study to develop oil spill response training courses for competent responders examining IMO guidelines and response training courses of developed maritime countries as well as Korea. According to a result of study, fundamental training courses are to be established on the basis of IMO guideline, and also to prepare pre-arranged brief course like Basics of Spill Response for beginner. The courses should be step-by-step related with mutual continuous contents, and more times are given to on-site training for basic course and to classroom lecture with desk-top exercise for advanced course. Besides, SCAT shall be added to shoreline cleanup course, finally it is advisable that total 9 types of courses are established with additional refresh course.

  • In general, credibility for some analysis results is very important to most decision makers. Especially, it is even more critical for military commander to choose the best course of action by using the simulation results when he want to decide to allocate his available weapon system assets. Therefore, improving the credibility of simulation output is one of the key issues in military research fields. In this paper, we proposed a new simulation framework to improve the credibility of weapon's effectiveness analysis results. Multi-agent based simulation tool is applied and compare current process to the proposed framework. We also showed an example case when a communication repeaters are installed to expand the commanding area scope. The example clearly tells why this new simulation framework is more efficient and improve the credibility of simulation results.

  • Ministry of National Defense made has set a standard regulations and detail to classify the revision of the military security and the plan to adjust or use those secrets. Moreover, the confidential management system with online secret process is operated by it. However, the study for management plan of stored secret data in these systems should be urgently required because the current regulation of military headquarter is different from present military situation so that it is not applicable up to now. This paper is focused on the Defense Ammunition Information Systems to find the proper way to deal with the secret data of the Defense Information Systems. The purpose is to describe the management plan for the secret data consistent with the current situation of the Military by study for the secret classification and case study. Therefore limitations are considered and solutions are finally suggested in this paper.

A Study on the Bulletproof Reliability Program (방탄물자 신뢰성 평가(BRP)에 관한 연구)

  • This study examines the reliability evaluation concept and procedure of bulletproof materials (BRP: Bulletproof Reliability Program). ASRP, RAM analysis tasks were utilized for the study. Based on this analysis, the concept, method, performance system, and procedure of BRP were examined. The BRP task execution procedure consists of the following four steps. First, the business (evaluation) planning stage establishes the evaluation plan every year. Second, there is a testing stage that performs the general inspection, functional test, and operational test according to the established plan. Thirdly, there is an evaluation/analysis phase to synthesize/analyze the results and to judge the appropriate grade considering the performance of bulletproof materials. Finally, the follow-up step of each group according to the result. The following criteria are suggested for BRP implementation: BRP testing capability, development of BRP evaluation method, and recognition of the importance of BRP business.
