Physical Geographical Background of Geotourism Resources in Gumho River Basin (금호분지 내 지리관광자원의 자연지리학적 배경)

  • In this paper Gumho drainage basin is divided into six geomorphic units (Bohyeon, Palgong, Biseul mountainous areas and Yeongcheon, Gyeongsan, Daegu basin), and physical geographical background and distributional characteristics of geotourism resources in each geomorphic unit are examined. Most(32 sites, 78%) of geotourism resources in Gumho basin reflect geomorphological environment, rest(7 sites, 17%) of them reflect geological environment. There are three geomorphological resources in Bohyeon mountainous areas, eight geomorphological resources in Palgong mountainous areas, and five geomorphological resources and one cultural resource in Biseul mountainous areas. There are two geomorphological resources, one geological resource, one biological resource, and two cultural resources in Yeongcheon basin. Among them one biological resource and and one cultural resource reflect local geomorphological environment. In Gyeongsan basin are there one geomorphological resource, three geological resources, and one biological resource, but one biological resource reflects local geomorphological environment. There are eight geomorphological resources, two geological resources, and three biological resources in Daegu basin. But two biological resources among them reflect local geomorphological environment.

  • This study aims to figure out the first-class geomorphic resources included in Yeongyang map sheet. The fieldwork shows that the first-class geomorphic resources are found mainly along the Banbyeoncheon(incised meander) and The Soojungsa(temple) valley that retain beautiful landscapes such as river cliff(including river bluff), water fall, pot hole. tafoni, canyon Such geomorphic resources are highly concerned with Bulguksa intrusive rocks (Cretaceous). Especially The Seonbawi and The Namipo(Yeongyang county), The Punghojung and its vicinities (Cheongsong county), and The Soojungsa(temple) valley are important in viewpoint of story telling tour marketing.

  • 여러 관광자원 중에서도 동굴은 지하에 분포하고 있기 때문에 특이하며, 일반 관광자원보다 사람들에게 관심이 높고 견인력이 큰 자원이어서. 최근들어 동굴은 레크리에이션 장소로도 각광받고 있다. 이런 특성을 지닌 동굴 중에서 강원도 영월군 서면에 위치한 동정굴은 도로상에 입지하고 있으며, 부근에 자연풍치자원 이외에도 사적자원, 산업자원 등이 산재하고 있어 관광 개발에 유리한 입지로 판단된다. 특히 평창강의 심한 곡류, 우뚝 솟은 하식애 등의 하천지형과 지표면의 카르스트 지형 및 동굴 내부의 2차 생성물들은 동정굴을 지형지물의 전시장이며 자연학습의 현장이라는 특성을 지닌 관광지로 개발할 수 있는 전망을 제시하고 있다. 따라서 동정굴 지역을 주변의 각종 관광자원을 유기적으로 연결시키는 역할을 담당하도록 개발해야 하겠다.

Value Promotion for Tourism Geology through Survey on Geological and Geomorphological Landscape Resources in the Odaesan National Park: Public Understanding of Earth Science (오대산 국립공원의 지질 및 지형경관자원 조사를 통한 관광지질학적 가치 증진: 지구과학의 대중적 이해)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate essential information about the geological and geomorphological characteristics of the Odaesan landscape, in order to efficiently preserve and develop resources selected from among that are highly valuable scholastically and esthetically. A total of 147 geological and geomorphological landscape resources were studied during the course of this study. Landscape type mostly discovered was the tectonic topography, followed by the topographies of weathering, river, mountain, lacustrine, and periglacier, respectively in decreasing order. Among the varieties of geological and geomorphological landscape resources, 4 outcrops were utilized as tourist resources and 5 outcrops were considered as valuable sites for scientific research. Geological and geomorphological landscape resources for academic research were considered to have practical uses such as geological and geomorphological fieldwork for students and thematic geotourism courses for the public.

Geomorphic Resources of Mt. Palgong, in Daegu (대구 팔공산의 지형자원)

  • This research aimed to analyse geomorphic resources of Mt. palgong(in Daegu city and Gyeongbuk province) through some field surveys, and then to clarify geomorphic features. The main results are as follows. 1) The geological boundary of the south slope(granite) is more clear than one of the north slope(granite bedrock and metamorphic sedimentary rock). Small basins are along with fault line between granite bedrock and metamorphic sedimentary rock. 2) It is estimated that relatively big valleys on the north slope are due to local climate, geomorphic and geological features. 3) Tor, sheeting joint, gutter are well developed both on the south slope and on the north slope, however the development of polygonal cracking and boulder stream are more dominant on the south slope; river cliff, pool, waterfall are more dominant on the north slope with valleys that well developed. 4) Scenic geomorphic landscapes are mainly developed in Dongsan valley and Chisan valley on the north slope. 5) There are many interesting geomorphic resources in the viewpoint of storytelling in Mt. Palgong. So the specific design to utilize such resources is required

Topographic Tourism Resources of Mureung Valley in Donghae-si: Analysis and Valuation (동해 무릉계곡의 지형관광자원 분석과 평가)

  • This study investigated and analyzed the topographic landscape resources of Mureung Valley in Donghae-si from the viewpoint of geotourism in order to suggest the tourism contents and tour course. A total of 29 topographic landscapes were observed; these are broadly divided into 4 features including weathering landform, mountainous landform, fluvial landform, and structural landform. Major topographies are fluvial landform (13) and weathering landform (12). At least 19 topographies (14 sites, 19 topographic landscapes) are currently used as tourism resources, with 10 topographies having potential to be developed as new tourism resources. The 10 topographic landscapes are as follows: (1) Jamryong Bawi (Hidden Dragon Rock), (2) Janggipan Bawi (Korean Chessboard Rock), (3) Nurungji Bawi (Parched Rice Rock), (4) Damjang Bawi (Fence Rock), (5) Gyedan Bawi (Stairs Rock), (6) Heundeul Bawi (Rocking Rock), (7) Jeopsi Bawi (Dish Rock), (8) Dol Umul (Stone Well), (9) Jogak Bawi (Carved Rock), and (10) Dubu Bawi (Topu Rock). The topographic tour course can be divided into 3 routes considering accessibility and time. Route 1 is a basic one that anyone can easily use; Route 2 and 3 can be used by visitors who have more time to spare or who are more active.

A Characteristic Conservation and Application of Geomorphological Landscape Resources in National Parks, South Korea (우리나라 국립공원 지형경관자원의 유형 및 활용방안)

  • This study collected national secondary and tertiary nationwide natural environment survey data of the National Institute of Environmental Research as well as the National Park's secondary and tertiary natural resource research data executed by the Korea National Park Service. The data collection is aimed at reclassification the geomorphological landscape resources of each park in varying types. The results generated a total of 3,169 geomorphological landscape resources within all the national parks. Among all the geomorphological landscape resources, 794 landscape resources were judged as Level I, which accounts for 36.9%. Next, 546 landscape resources were judged as Level II, or 25.3%, and 459 landscape resources judged as Level III, or 21.3%. Lastly, 191 landscape resources were judged as Level IV, having the lowest conservation level, or 8.9%. The number of Level I landscape resources for each national park includes 207 sites on Seoraksan, 92 sites on Dadohaehaesang Park, 84 sites on Jirisan, and 60 sites at the Taeanhaean, respectively. Dadohaehaesang National Park, Seoraksan National Park, Taeanhaean National Park, Jirisan National Park, Songnisan National Park, and Gyeryongsan National Park were evaluated as national parks having excellent landscape resources. To use these excellent landscape resources, there is a need to increase visitors' satisfaction and increase their interest in and understanding of landscape resources. To achieve this, a landscape viewpoint map must be composed and installed at the entrance or at certain points to provide visitors with useful information regarding the geomorphological landscape resources.
