A Study on the Symbol Making for Mapping Landform of Elements (지형요소 지도화를 위한 기호제작에 관한 연구)

  • There is limitation to represent forms and internal process of topography if using simple symbols for geomorphic landscape in the cartography. One of the alternative method to find a solution to these problems is to use association symbol to imagine real landscapes through map reading. This study suggested making method of association symbols to describe geomorphic landscapes effectively. Landforms are not static objects but dynamic pedogenesis and morphogenesis one. It should be consider form, process, and material to make landform mapping, and also, make landform symbols by considering scalable changeability for point-polygon, line-polygon, point-line by scale. As a results, this study expected to help applications for geomorphology as well as environments, ecology, archaeology, and civil engineering etc.

  • Recently, high productivity capabilities have been improved due to the application of advanced technologies in various industries, but in the construction industry, productivity improvements have been relatively low. Research on advanced technology for the construction industry is being conducted quickly to overcome the current low productivity. Among advanced technologies, 3D scan technology is widely used for creating 3D digital terrain models at construction sites. In particular, the 3D digital terrain model provides basic data for construction automation processes, such as earthwork machine guidance and control. The quality of the 3D digital terrain model has a lot of influence not only on the performance and acquisition environment of the 3D scanner, but also on the denoising, registration and merging process, which is a preprocessing process for creating a 3D digital terrain model after acquiring terrain scan data. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the terrain scan data processing performance. This study seeks to solve the problem of density inhomogeneity in terrain scan data that arises during the pre-processing step. The study suggests a 'pixel-based point cloud comparison algorithm' and verifies the performance of the algorithm using terrain scan data obtained at an actual earthwork site.

Generating Curved Lines in a Windows based Navigation Mesh (윈도우 기반 네비게이션 메쉬에서 곡선 생성 기법)

  • In this paper, methods are proposed for creating a curved line in a navigation mesh, which is used in a windows based virtual reality or games. The main geographies used in a windows based virtual reality or games are created by using either grids or navigation meshes. When using grids, it is difficult to create a natural geography. Multiple grids are needed to ensure precise descriptions, which can result in system overload. A navigation mesh was developed to address this issue since the navigation mesh has the benefit of placing fewer loads on the system than a grid method. The drawback, however, is that the movements of character in navigation mesh are less natural. In this paper, a method for creating a curved line using round curves is proposed in order to resolve this issue. Using the methods for creating a curved line proposed in this paper in a windows based virtual reality or games will eliminate the unnatural or awkward movement of characters that arises in the use of a navigation mesh.

Recent Research Trends in American Geomorphology and Hydrogeography (미국에서의 지형학과 수문지리학의 최근 연구동향)

  • We examined research trends in geomorphology and hydrogeography in America based on papers presented at the annual meetings of the Association of American Geographers(AAG) and papers published in two AAG journals between 2002 and 2004. Among the 437 papers in geomorphology, $40\%$ of the papers concerned fluvial geomorphology, followed by environmental geomorphology and glacial and periglacial geomorphology concern. Among the 452 papers in hydrogeography, about $20\%$ of the papers focused on water, law and institutional aspects, followed by hydrogeomorphology and hydrologic modeling. Twenty one papers examining geomorphology and hydeogeography were published in two AAG journals, and fluvial geomorpholoy was the dominant theme. GIS was used for $29\%$ papers in geomorphology and $35\%$ of papers in hydrogeography($35\%$), suggesting that other methods, including geostatistics, field survey, and qualitative methods, are employed as well. This methodological diversification seems to be associated with solving such complex environmental problems as integrated watershed management and implies that geomorphologists and hydrogeographers are expanding their traditional territories and are making close connections with human-environment geographers and human geographers. Geomorphologists and hydrogeographers are likely to continue examining the causes of and solving environmental problems that humans are currently facing and might face in the future.

  • 부산은 과거 10년간 급격한 산업화 및 도농통합의 발빠른 진행으로 토지이용의 많은 변화가 초래되었다. 이로 인하여 많은 환경문제가 야기되고 있는 실정이다. 그러므로, 본 연구에서는 부산지역에서 과거 10년간의 토지이용변화를 Landsat TM 영상을 이용하여 분석하고 이를 지리정보시스템을 이용하여 환경오염에 대한 정보제공, 식생변화, 도시계획결정에 유용한 자료를 제시하고자 한다.

  • 급격한 도시화는 도시의 기후변조와 함께 오존오염 문제를 야기 시켰다. 즉 지표오존(ground-level ozone)의 고농도 현상이 도시대기환경의 주된 관심사가 되었고, 이를 해결하기 위해 여러 연구가 국내·외에서 지역특성에 맞게 활발히 이루어지고 있는 실정이다. 일반적으로 지표오존은 전구물질의 배출량 및 도시의 지형학적 위치와 기상학적 특성에 따라 생성·소멸·이류 메카니즘이 다르게 나타난다. 따라서 이러한 국지적 특성의 고려는 지표오존의 고농도분석에 있어 반드시 수반되어야 하며, 이를 바탕으로 최종적으로 농도예측이 이루어 져야 할 것이다.   • The accurate prediction of wave-induced currents is indispensible to analyze the beach deformation due to the sediment transport or dispersion in the surf zone, which often gives rises to serious environmental problems in the coastal region. Although many numerical models have been suggested up to now, it is not easy to properly simulate wave-induced currents, in particular, over a complex topography. In order to solve these problems, we have to understand the mechanism of wave transformation and wave-induced currents, to compare results numerical models with those of field measurements, and to find the validity and the applicability of them. And, also the validity of the model has been confirmed by the field investigation.

  • EIA(Environmental Impact Assessment) was introduced in 1979 by our gorvernment to cope with serious environmental problems. Recently environmental pollution has been controlled severely than ever because pollution phenomena became more comlpicated and arrcordingly the damage more terrible. For the EIA system to achieve its goal effectively, systematic and scientific approach should be found out. For this reason the techniqes such as GIS(Geographic Information System) and RS(Remote Sensing) come to front strongly. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the application techniqes of GIS and RS to the EIA system. Haw-Won Myen, Hae-Nam Gun, Chun-Nam and its related area, which will be developed to be a sightseeing area, were selected as the study area. Applications of GIS resulted some important outcome such as earthwork calculations, landuse models, aspect maps, stability of slanting surfaces, elevation models, estimation of real estates, etc. GIS applied EIA proved to be very useful for the project managers and planners to plan, evaluate, judge the enviormental problems.

  • 해상 선박의 안전을 위해 해저의 객체 및 장애물의 정확한 탐지를 위해 해저환경에서 감쇠현상이 비교적 적은 음파 기반의 소나가 널리 활용된다. 그러나 기존의 소나 영상 시뮬레이션은 고해상도의 영상, 잡음 처리, 해저지형과 객체 데이터 등의 방대한 데이터 처리로 인해 물체 탐지 및 식별을 위한 처리속도와 비용이 크게 증가한다. 이러한 문제를 최소화하기 위해서 해저지형, 객체 생성과 잡음 처리 모델을 Multi-Threading, SIMD 등 병렬처리를 적용하여 처리속도를 최적화 한다. 본 논문에서는 혼합된 병렬처리 방법을 적용하여 소나를 기반으로 해저 환경 시뮬레이션을 위한 모의 신호를 생성하는 성능을 향상시킨다. 병렬처리로 인해 개선된 성능을 순차처리에 따른 속도와 실험적으로 비교한다.

도로안정성을 고려한 친환경적 터널 갱문 설계 및 시공사례

  • 터널 설계에 있어 갱구부의 위치 및 갱문형식의 선정은 터널 및 갱구사면의 안정성뿐만 아니라, 주위환경과의 조화 및 자연환경 훼손 최소화 등과 같은 환경적인 측면에서도 매우 중요한 부분이다. 현행 국내의 경우 경제성과 시공성 위주의 갱구부 위치 선정으로 과다 절취구간이 발생되어 환경훼손, 민원문제 발생, 과다한 용지 매입비용 등의 여러 가지 부작용이 발생되고 있다. 또한, 갱문 형식의 선정에 있어서 갱구부의 지형여건 및 제반 환경적 영향을 고려하지 않고 원통절개형과 면벽식 갱문의 획일적인 적용으로 주변지형과의 부조화를 이루는 사례가 다수 발생하고 있으며, 갱구부 상단의 유실된 토석이 완충공간의 부족으로 도로 노면상에 낙하되는 사고가 발생하고 있어 그에 대한 대책이 필요한 실정이다. 이와 같은 문제점을 보완하기 위해 갱구부 절취구간 최소화를 위한 구체적인 최소토피고 기준을 마련하였으며, 갱구상단 지형경사의 완급, 갱문주위의 배수기능, 낙석${\cdot}$산사태 등의 발생가능성 등을 고려한 새로운 갱문형식을 제안하고 체계적인 검토를 수행하였다. 이를 통해 점차 강화되는 환경보호정책 방향에 부응하고 자연환경 훼손을 최소화하며, 특히 해빙기와 집중호우시 낙석${\cdot}$눈사태로부터 도로의 안전을 확보할 수 있는 터널 갱문부 설계기준을 제시하였다. 또한, 실제 고속도로 터널의 설계 적용사례를 통하여 본 설계기준의 적용성을 분석하였으며, 실제 갱문 시공사례를 소개하여 향후 설계 및 시공에 도움이 되고자 하였다.
