내진설계 기준의 개선

  • 내진설계를 위한 연구는 세계각국에서 많이 수행되어 왔으며 현재도 이에 대한 연구는 활발히 진행되고 있다. 국제연합에서는 금년부터 앞으로 10년간을 자연재해 방지 기간으로 정하여 내진설계 분야의 연구를 더욱 활성화 시키는데 크게 기여할 것이다. 우리나라에서도 최근 몇년 사이에 내진설계 분야의 연구가 활발해지고 있으며 내진설계 기준이 제정되어 시행되기도 하는 등 이 분야에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 이러한 점들은 우리나라의 지진 위험도에 비추어 볼 때 앞으로 발생할 가능성이 있는 지진에 의한 피해를 줄일 수 있는 좋은 계기가 될 수 있다고 생각된다.

The Earthquake Response Characteristics and Seismic Safety Evaluation of Steel Cable Stayed Bridges (강사장교의 지진응답특성 및 내진 안전성 평가)

  • In this study, we demonstrated the characteristics of the near-fault ground motion thatwas not considered in the domestic seismic design code and how the effect of the near-fault ground motion affects the response of cable-stayed bridges. Afterselecting the actual measurement records of the typical near- and far-fault ground motion, the characteristics of ground motion is analyzed using the elastic and inelastic response spectrum. Analyzing the response regarding the earthquake's characteristics on cable-stayed bridges by the typical three-type cable-stayed bridges and the actual cable-stayed bridge, the characteristics of responses about main members are compared and analyzed. Moreover,reliability analysis is accomplished using the results of the seismic response analysis, and the seismic safety of the cable-stayed bridges is evaluated quantitatively as a reliability index and probability of failure. According to the results of the response spectrum, the earthquake response analysis and the reliability analysis, because the effect of the near fault ground motion against the response of cable-stayed bridges is different from the effect of the existing far-fault ground motion, it should be considered as an important factor when designing cable-stayed bridges.

Analysis of the Effect of Seismic Loads on Residential RC Buildings using the Change in Building Size and Return Period (건물 규모 및 재현주기 변화에 따른 주거용 RC건물에 대한 시공 중 지진하중의 영향 분석)

  • Unlike a completed building, a building under construction may be at risk in terms of safety if a load exceeds the value considered in the design stage owing to various factors, such as a load action different from that in the design stage and insufficient concrete strength. In addition, if an earthquake occurs in a building under construction, greater damage may occur. Therefore, this study studied example models with various sizes of 5, 15, 25, and 60 floors for typical building types and analyzed the effects of seismic load on buildings under construction using construction-stage models according to frame completeness. Because the construction period of the building is much shorter than the period of use after completion, applying same earthquake loads as the design stage to buildings under construction may be excessive. Therefore, earthquakes with a return period of 50 to 2,400 years were applied to the construction stage model to review the seismic loads and analyze the structural performances of the members. Thus, we reviewed whether a load exceeding that of the design stage was applied and the return period level of the earthquake that could ensure structural safety. In addition, assuming the construction period of each example model, the earthquake return period according to the construction period was selected, and the design appropriateness with the selected return period was checked.

The Study on the Necessity of Seismic Design for Fire Protection System and the Establishment of Standard (소방시설 내진설계의 필요성과 기준정비에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, provisions related with the seismic design and equipments of fire protection system are being considered. The provisions from various international codes on seismic design fire protection system were reviewed. The codes, reviewed are, Japanese code, NFPA guideline and Korean Code. It is noted that all the codes excepted to Korean Code consider earthquake effect to evaluate seismic forces and behaviors. But, korean provision are not covered in seismic response in all. A brief description on limitations in Korean Code is also presented.

  • 성능에 기초한 내진설계에서는 구조물이 보유하고 있는 능력을 효과적으로 파악하기 위해서 비선형 정적 해석이 적용되고 있다. 그러나 비선형 정적해석은 고차모드에 대한 효과를 고려하지 못함으로써 고층구조물이나 비정형 구조물과 같은 경우에는 정확한 비선형 지진응답의 산정과 내진성능을 평가하는데 문제점을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 건축구조물의 선형 및 비선형 지진응답 평가를 위하여 응답 스펙트럼해석을 통하여 얻어지는 층전단력으로부터 층하중을 산정하는 유사동적해석법이 적용되었다. 제안된 방법을 비선형 정적 해석에 적용하여 구조물의 비선형 자동응답을 비선형 시간이력해석의 결과와 비교하였다. 기존의 층분포하중에 의한 비선형 지진응답과 비교하였으며, 제안된 방법에 의한 지진 응답이 구조물의 비선형 거동특성을 가장 정확하게 표현하였다. 그러므로 본 연구에서 제안된 방법을 사용하여 비선형 정적 해석을 수행한다면 비교적 명확한 건축물의 비선형 거동특성과 내진성능을 평가할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

Earthquake Response System using GIS (GIS를 이용한 지진대응시스템 구축과 발전방향)

  • 최근 증가하고 있는 자연재해 중 지진의 피해는 전체의 재해에서 차지하는 비중은 상대적으로 적지만, 빈도와 강도가 증가하고 있으며, 대응하기 위한 예측 체계가 거의 없다는 것이 어려운 점이다. 일본의 후쿠오카 지진 이후 내진설계 기준이 강화되고 있으나 실제지진발생시 최대가속도의 크기와 전파속도에 대한 이론적인 연구는 있었지만 국가적 차원의 자료 구축은 거의 없었다. 2005년 이후 소방방재청에서 지진대책사업단이 구성된 이후, 각 기관에 산재된 GIS 자료를 수집하여, 지진반응에 맞는 자료로 가공하고 프로그램으로 구현하게 되었다. anyguide 라는 지리정보도시 시스템과 Java 어플리케이션으로 구성된 프로그램을 통하여 과거의 지진자료와 측정지점에 대한 정보를 구축하였으며, 실제 지진발생 시에 지자체에서 대응할 수 있는 경보시스템을 동시에 구축하였다. 2007년 2월에 발생한 평창 주변의 지진발생시 시스템이 작동하여 3초내에 실제 shake map과 20초 이내에 hazard map이 작성되었으며, 실제 인명과 가옥 파괴 비율을 검증할 수 있었다. 2007년 말부터 2차 피해예측 추이 부분이 추가되어 보다 종합적인 대응시스템이 될 것으로 예상된다.

Preliminary Design Procedure of MR Dampers for Controlling Seismic Response of Building Structures (건축구조물의 지진응답제어를 위한 MR 감쇠기 예비설계절차)

  • In this paper, the preliminary design procedure of magnetorheological (MR) dampers is developed for controlling the building response induced by seismic excitation. The dynamic characteristics and control effects of the modeling methods of MR dampers such as Bingham, biviscous, hysteretic biviscous, simple Bouc?Wen, Bouc?Wen with mass element, and phenomenological models are investigated. Of these models, hysteretic biviscous model which is simple and capable describing the hysteretic characteristics, is used for numerical studies. The capacity of MR damper is determined as a portion of not the building weight but the lateral restoring force. A method is proposed for optimal placement and number of MR dampers, and its effectiveness is verified by comparing it with the simplified sequential search algorithm. Numerical results indicate that the capacity, number and the placement can be reasonably determined using the proposed design procedure.

  • It has been commonly assumed that during the 21st century, the korean peninsula may suffer huge earthquake damage to people, society, and economic system. The recent report of "Seoul Earthquake Response model development" conducted by the city of Seoul indicated that a magnitude 6.3 earthquake possibly hit Seoul, the capital of Korea. However, due to the insufficient amount of study on seismic performance of structures reflecting the various types of element peculiar to Korea application of the currently available earthquake damage evaluation methods has limitations. In order to conduct various studies on seismic hazards that are suitable for the actual conditions in Korea, therefore, fundamental studies first have to be properly conducted. The purpose of this study is to serve as the basis of establishing a reliable earthquake damage estimation system, and to provide essential data for the seismic damage evaluation of nonseismically reinforced concrete apartment structures. In this study, a standard type of nonseismically reinforced concrete apartments has been determined based on an extensive survey and careful review of such structures in Korea, and their performance level on seismic loading has been estimated.

Failure Probability of Nonlinear SDOF System Subject to Scaled and Spectrum Matched Input Ground Motion Models (배율조정 및 스펙트럼 맞춤 입력지반운동 모델에 대한 비선형 단자유도 시스템의 파손확률)

  • In probabilistic seismic analysis of nonlinear structural system, dynamic analysis is performed to obtain the distribution of the response estimate using input ground motion time histories which correspond to a given seismic hazard level. This study investigates the differences in the distribution of the responses and the failure probability according to input ground motion models. Two types of input ground motion models are considered: real earthquake records scaled to specified intensity level and artificial input ground motion fitted to design response spectrum. Simulation results fir a nonlinear SDOF system demonstrate that the spectrum matched input ground motion produces larger failure probability than those of scaled input ground motion due to biased responses. Such tendency is more remarkable in the site of soft soil conditions. Analysis results show that such difference of failure probability is due to the conservative estimation of design response spectrum in the range of long period of ground motion.

An Experimental Study on the Characteristics of Seismic Isolators under Extreme Conditions (교량 지진격리받침의 극한특성에 대한 실험적 고찰)

  • For the early seismic isolation design in Korea, foreign products of isolation bearings were used. But these days, the application of domestic products of isolation bearings is increasing. However various experimental studies can be found very seldom on the extreme and lonr term behaviors of isolation bearings. In this study, we considered the laminated rubber type isolation bearings that have many application cases in Korea and we evaluated their shear strength, long term characteristics such as aging and creep affecting shear strength of bearings in long term period. For the reality of experiments, fabricated isolation bearing specimens are designed for a real structure and shear loading was applied under design compressive loads. To evaluated aging effect, the specimens were exposed to high temperature environment for certain period and their shear properties were measured to compare with their original values. Also we measured creep amount of isolation bearings under constant compressive load for 1,000 hours and estimated creep amount after 60 years compatible with general life cycle of bridges.
