  • This study was conducted to compare the resilience, social support, psychosocial stress and burnout between novice and experienced nurses. Data collection was conducted using structured questionnaires for 65 novice nurses with less than one year of clinical experience and 70 experienced nurses with at least seven years of clinical experience working in general hospitals. The results revealed that the resilience of novice nurses was lower than that of experienced nurses, and there were significant differences according to educational level, job satisfaction, and subjective health status. Conversely, experienced nurses' resilience differed according to their position. In addition, the resilience of novice and experienced nurses showed the highest correlation with psychosocial stress (r=-0.633, p<0.001; r=-0.586, p<0.001), while novice nurses' social support (r=0.560, p<0.001) and experienced nurses' burnout (r=-0.404, p=0.001) showed the second highest correlations. These results demonstrate that the factors related to resilience of novice and the experienced nurses differ. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a differentiated program according to the characteristics of resilience of each nurse to improve the resilience of novice and experienced nurses.

In the results, the number of subjects showing smartphone addiction was 47 in the high risk group, 29 in the potential risk group, and 97 in the general group, and the average level of adaptation to college life in the smartphone addiction group was statistically lower as the level of addiction increased. The average social support level of the smartphone addiction group was not significant. There was a negative correlation between students' adaptation to college life and smartphone addiction (r=-.34, p<.001) and a positive correlation with social support (r=.38, p<.001). Social support showed a significant negative correlation with smartphone addiction (r=-.17, p=.023). Moreover, social support was partially mediated. • This study analyzed the use of the phenomenological method proposed by Colaizzi (1978) in order to understand the meaning of block system class experiences in nursing students. Furthermore, this study provides primal data to improve curriculum efficiency. The data were collected from 18 participants who were students at a nursing university in the city of G from 20th of June to 10th of July 2015. This study investigated nursing student's block system class experience. The study results show six theme clusters consisting of 'Discomfort', 'Unsystematic study', 'Holding back an urge', 'Ever intensifying relationship', 'New discovery', and 'Chance for development', 17 themes, and 42 sub themes, which are included in those clusters in 58 configured meanings. This demonstrates that nursing students could reestablish their resolve for personal betterment and realize the importance of managing time by finishing the procedure with their best efforts although they suffer from physical and psychological inconvenience due to massive amounts of learning and assignment. These results indicate the need for development of stress management and an emotional support program based on the experience of nursing students.
