  • Propulsion system of the current developing satellite is roughly composed of propellant tank and four major modules. Each module prevides the pulse momentum for spacecraft attitude control, filling/draining of propellant and pressurant, propellant filtering, and the change of flow passage in the spacecraft emergency situation, respectively. These modules will be fixed on the propulsion platform with their suitable mounting brackers, so the brackets shall be designed sufficiently to support a function of the modules under launch environment and on-orbit condition. The purpose of this article is to check if all the bracket designs satisfy the defined structural requirements through finite element analysis, and then to verify structural safety.

  • The contiguous construction in downtown area requires an appropriate substructure construction method since it results in the insufficient working spaces and frequent public resentment by noise and vibration. In particular, Top-down method usually is applied for downtown construction, and followed by several difficulties in casting the slab concrete for substructure. In this study, we focus on the improvement workability for substructure construction.

A Real-scale Wind Tunnel Testing on a Pantograph for High-speed Train to Assess the Aerodynamic Characteristics (고속철도차량용 팬터그래프의 공력특성 평가를 위한 실모형 풍동시험)

  • Wind tunnel testing on the real-scale pantograph for high-speed train has been conducted to investigate the aerodynamic characteristic of the pantograph at high-speed. The mid-scale subsonic wind tunnel of Korea Airforce Acamedy with 3.5m width, 2.45m height, and 8.8m length test section has been employed. The test model has been supported above 50cm height from the bottom of test section using vertical strut to eliminate the boundary layer generated from the bottom of the test section. The height of the pantograph has been varied in three cases, in both of the normal running and reverse running modes. The resultant lift forces of the pantograph to catenary system in all the cases have been measured and the relation between the test conditions and the lift forces have been extensively analyzed.

Wall Tie Member Force Curve for the Construction Tower Crane (건축용 타워크레인 마스트의 횡방향 지지요소인 월타이 부재력 특성곡선)

  • Tower crane's wall tie is generally used for extending of mast height according to rising of lifting height. In order to get wall tie member force this problem, this study concerning wall tie is based on load data described in manual book of 290HC model. This study made the equation of wall tie member force and computer programming for calculating wall tie member force and then get ${\theta}-P$ curves(angle-wall tie force). After considering the ${\theta}-P$ curves, optimum angle range ($48.4^{\circ}{\sim}77.2^{\circ}$) about wall ties (A), (C) members was obtained. Member force of wall tie (B) was changed from tension to compression or from compression to tension at $74^{\circ}$ in service and $54^{\circ}$ in out of service. When both horizontal force($H_A$) and torsional moment ($M_D$) were varied from (+) to (-), wall tie force(A, B, C) were changed almost symmetrically about ${\theta}$-axis. Because this study was based on wall tie analysis conditions, wall tie members in symmetric and ideal geometry shape used for analizing wall tie of tower crane, it is necessary to have more careful verification in order to apply generally the results of this study.

  • This study relates to a fixing device for gas piping installed in a building such as an apartment or a building. The gas piping is fixed to the inside of the housing so as to buffer the gas piping in all directions, thereby relieving vibration caused by an earthquake or an impact, Disclosed is an earthquake-proof fixing device for a gas pipeline that can minimize damages caused by damage to an earthquake and a gas pipeline by preventing damage and breakage. An apparatus for fixing a gas pipe to a bracket provided on a wall or a wall of a building, the apparatus comprising: a housing coupled to a wall or a bracket and coupled to the inside of the housing; a gas pipe penetrating through the housing to fix the gas pipe; The first plate spring includes a first plate spring formed with a plurality of concave-convex portions that are elastically supported in four directions. The first plate spring is screwed to the front surface or the rear surface of the housing. The lower plate is coupled to one end and the other end, And a pair of first adjusting screws for adjusting the elastic force of the spring. Through this study, damage and damage of gas piping due to earthquake or impact can be minimized.

  • As a rectangular wire Is inserted into edgewise brackets the wire exerts a force system three-dimensionally. The force system may include bending force in first and second orders and a torsional force in third order Analytical and experimental studies on bending force have been Introduced, but information about torsion is still lack. The purpose of this study was to estimate the torsional moment in the force system of rectangular arch wires through theoretical and experimental studies. Wires most frequently used for third order control were selected as study materials. Cross sections of 0.016x0.022, 0.017x0.025, 0.019x0.025 inch rectangular wires in foot different materials such as stainless steel(Ormco), TMA(Ormco), NiTi(Ormco), and braided stainless steel (DentaFlex, Dentaurum) were used. The torque/twist rate of each test material was calculated using the torsion formula. Torque/twist rate, yield torsional moment, and ultimate torsional moment were measured with a torque gauge. The torsion formula assesses that the torque/twist rate (T/$\theta$) is proportional to the characteristics of material (G) and cross section (J), and is inversely proportional to the length of wire (L). Most experimental results corresponded with the formula. The relative stiffness was calculated for reference to a logical sequence of wire changes.
