  • Unlike fin-stabilized projectiles, there has been some difficulty measuring the attitudes of spin-stabilized projectiles during the long-range flight due to their high spin rates. In this work, solar and geomagnetic sensors were used to measure the attitude of a spin-stabilized projectile. A method to calculate the attitude of the projectile from the signals of the sensors was introduced as well as the methods to process the signals of the sensors. To validate the methods, the attitude of a projectile was calculated with the sensor signals from the actual flight data.

  • As many types of magnetic sensors are widely applied in various industries, the analysis and processing of magnetic sensor data need to be accurate. On the other hand, owing to the complexity of the magnetic field line caused by a moving magnet, the magnetic data generated by magnetic sensors are unpredictably nonlinear. Many industry systems using magnetic sensors have struggled with the nonlinear nature of magnetic sensor data. To reduce the effect of the nonlinearity, they have the target objects fixed firmly. Therefore, to collect accurate and reliable data, considerable efforts have been made to resolve the issues with the expensive tools and systems required. Through this paper, to tackle the issues, the data analysis and methodologies, including intelligent algorithms, are presented for the wrist rehabilitation system using magnetic sensors while being implemented without using expensive tools or systems. On processing magnetic sensor data, this paper adopted an intelligent algorithm, fuzzy logic, and compared the performance of other algorithms for comparison.

  • A magnetic field sensor is fabricated with superconducting ceramics of Y-Ba-Cu-O system. The prepared material shows the superconductivity at about 95K. The sensor at liquid nitrogen temperature shows the increase in electrical resistance by applying magnetic field. Actually, the voltage drop across the sensor is changed from zero to a value. more than $100{\mu}V$ by the applied magnetic field. The change in electrical resistance depends on magnetic field. The sensitivity of this sensor is 2.9 ohm/T. The sensing limit is about $1.5{\times}10^{-5}T(=1.5{\times}10^{-1}G)$. The increase in electrical resistance by the magnetic field is ascribed to a modification of the Josephson junctions due to the penetrating magnetic flux into the superconducting material.

  • This paper is proposed that roadway recognition performance improvement for autonomous vehicle using magnetic markers that are embedded along the road center and the sensors mounted on a vehicle, and which changing of magnetic field that is measured along with vehicle driving. For Retrenchment of equipment cost, interval of markers is more expensive than existing method. In order to this, This paper is proposed that interval of markers is founded using magnetic field analysis, and which arrangement method of six magnetic sensors and control method of neural network. This paper is carried out magnetic field analysis, the acquiring of the training patterns, the training of the neural network and composition of steering control, and is verified that roadway recognition performance can improve using computer simulation with proposed methods.

  • In this paper, a high-accuracy current sensing technique for three-phase current paths in an electrical switchboard is proposed. Conventional open-style current sensors using magnetic sensors show inaccurate sensing performance with more than 10% error due to undesired magnetic field interference from neighboring paths. To increase accuracy, large and expensive current transformers with large permeabilities have been used, which increased the cost and size. The proposed technique can improve the measured magnetic field by the calculation of magnetic interference effect from neighboring current paths. The relationship between neighboring magnetic fields and the desired magnetic field is theoretically analyzed in a general case. The proposed technique is verified using magnetic field simulations in a three-phase busbar environment.

  • In the paper, a smartphone-controlled personal mobility system(PMS) based on a compass sensor is developed. The use of a magnetic compass sensor makes the PMS move according to the heading direction of a smartphone controlled by a rider. The proposed smartphone-controlled PMS allows more intuitive interface than PMS controlled by pushing a button. As well, the magnetic compass sensor makes a role in compensating for the mechanical characteristics of motors mounted on the PMS. For adequate control of the robot, two methods: absolute and relative direction methods based on the magnetic compass sensor and wireless communication are presented. Experimental results show that the PMS is conveniently and effectively controlled by the proposed two methods.

  • Recently, non-destructive stress measurement method using magnetic anisotropy sensor has been applied to the construction site such as steel bridges and steel pipes. In addition, steel rib used in the tunnel construction site was found to be possible to measure the stress by non-destructive method. In this study, steel loading experiments using magnetic anisotropy sensor developed in Japan and strain gauges were conducted to derive stress sensitivity curve for domestic steel SS400. Also, additional steel loading experiments and numerical analysis were performed for evaluation of applicability for non-destructive stress measurement method using magnetic anisotropy sensor. As a result of this study, stress sensitivity curves for domestic steel SS400 were derived using output voltage measured by magnetic anisotropy sensor and average of stress measured by strain gauges depending on the measurement location. And as a result of comparing additional steel loading experiments with the numerical analysis, error level of magnetic anisotropy sensor is around 20MPa. When considering the level of the yield stress(245MPa) of steel, in case of using magnetic anisotropy sensor in order to determine the stress status of steel, it has sufficient accuracy in engineering. Especially, magnetic anisotropy sensor can easily identify the current state of stress which considers residual stress at steel structure that stress measurement sensor is not installed, so we found that magnetic anisotropy sensor can be applied at maintenance of steel structure conveniently.

  • Micro-magnetic detection system is used to detect small particles in an automatic transmission valve body, which signal noise and time-delay may occurs in process of signal transmitting and filtering. In this paper, we present the design and implement of a micro-magnetic detection system based on wireless sensor networks in conveyer belt. Micro-magnetic detection system consists of five modules which are magnetic sensor detector, signal processing unit, wireless sensor networks, system control unit and system monitoring unit. Our experimental results show that the proposed wireless micro-magnetic detection system improves both accuracy and time delay compared to the wired system; therefore, it may apply for wireless micro-magnetic detection system by analysis of packet reception rate.

  • This paper describes an offset and 1/f noise cancellation technique based hall sensor signal processor. The hall sensor outputs a hall voltage from the input magnetic field, which direction is orthogonal to hall plate. The two major elements to complete the hall sensor operation are: the one is a hall sensor to generate hall voltage from input magentic field, and the other one is a hall signal process system to cancel the offset and 1/f noise of hall signal. The proposed hall sensor splits the hall signal and unwanted signals(i.e. offset and 1/f noise) using a spinning current biasing technique and chopper stabilizer. The hall signal converted to 100 kHz and unwanted signals stay around DC frequency pass through chopper stabilizer. The unwanted signals are bloked by highpass filter which, 60 kHz cut off freqyency. Therefore only pure hall signal is enter the ADC(analog to dogital converter) for digitalize. The hall signal and unwanted signal at the output of an amplifer and highpass filter, which increase the power level of hall signal and cancel the unwanted signals are -53.9 dBm @ 100 kHz and -101.3 dBm @ 10 kHz. The ADC output of hall sensor signal process system has -5.0 dBm hall signal at 100 kHz frequency and -55.0 dBm unwanted signals at 10 kHz frequency.
