  • This study investigated sense of community influencing satisfaction with center teacher and service use evaluation and mediating effects of school adjustment involving sense of community, satisfaction with center teacher and service use evaluation among adolescents in community child center. Secondary data analysis from the 2nd Panel Survey on Service Satisfaction with Community Child Center was performed using data of 438 the first grade middle school aged student in 2017. Correlation coefficient and step-wise Regression using SPSS 18 program 18.0. and Sobel test showed that the higher of satisfaction with center teacher and center service use evaluation influenced the more enhanced sense of community, and school adjustment had partial mediating effect among them. Therefore, to promote low income adolescents' sense of community, this study suggested the need to persist the sustainable relationship between satisfaction with center teacher and adolescents and to improve quality of service and to develop and apply the community action program connecting community child care center and school system.

  • This study aimed to explore the experiences of community child center workers about how they have dealt with the mental health of children and adolescents who use such centers. For this study, we used a sample of ten community child center workers, who were divided into two groups and who participated in four focus group interviews. The results revealed four themes and twelve sub-themes: "the reality of facing children's mental health issues," "dealing with children's mental health issues and limitations," "know-hows accumulated from experiences and visible changes," and "remaining tasks--the workers who cannot give all." Based on the results the implications of promoting the mental health of children at community child centers were discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact factors on the happiness of teenagers using local children centers. To this end, 424 people were sampled and hierarchical regression methods were used using data from the 10th year of the Korea Children's Center Panel Study. The results are as follows. First, self-esteem and peer relation and service help in adolescents are found to have a static effect on happiness, of which self-esteem has the highest impact. Second, adolescent depression and negative parenting attitude have been shown to have a negative effect on happiness, and depression has a stronger negative impact than parents' negative parenting attitude. Accordingly, this study aims to highlight positive factors of influence and suggest alternatives for applying them to local children centers by developing various programs that can reduce negative factors in order to enhance the happiness of adolescents.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of discrimination experiences of adolescents currently using regional children's centers on school life adaptation and the moderating effect of parent-child communication in the process. Data from the first sixth year (2016) of the Children's Panel Survey, which was collected by the Central Children's Center, were used. At the time of the survey, the sample was selected from a total of 392 adolescents who were enrolled in the third year of middle school and currently living with their parents. This study analyzed the correlation analysis of variables related to school life adaptation of adolescents using local children's centers, frequency analysis, descriptive statistics analysis, correlation analysis, and control effects to explain the moderating effect. As a result of the analysis, it was found that parent-child communication, a modulating variable, has a buffering effect in the relationship between discrimination experiences and student life adaptation. To this end, it sought to develop practical programs such as communication methods and parent-child camps. The results obtained through this study can be used as basic data to broaden the theoretical discussions on adaptation to school life of local children's centers and to prepare appropriate policy visits to expand the effects of social intervention.

  • The Purpose of this study is to propose an effective service delivery system for children and youth considering service users and developmental stage. To accomplish this purpose, this study examined public service utilization for children and youth focusing on age difference, using statistical method and network analysis. The key results were as follows. The significant difference of service utilization among different age groups appeared in community center, youth training center, healthy family support center, public health center, public office and office of education. In terms of service utilization for special needs, the differences in Wee Center, Wee School and community child center were significant. Top value of degree centrality in network analysis showed on public heath center for elementary school, youth training center for middle school, and community center for high school. Finally, modeling results by Concor presented several distinctive relationship patterns in public service utilization for children and youth according to different age groups. On the base of these results, building a gateway applying age difference and developing a individualized service utilization database were suggested to improve the quality of service delivery system for children and youth.

  • The current study examined the latent mean analysis and path analysis comparison between male and female groups in the structural relationships among parent-child conversation, peer attachment, satisfaction in teacher at a community child care center, ego-resiliency, self-esteem, and career identity in adolescents who attend a community child care center. For this purpose, 438 adolescents who participated in the 4th(2017) questionnaire in the 2nd child panel of the community child care center were used. From the analysis results, first, peer attachment and satisfaction in teacher at a community child care center increased ego-resiliency and career identity, but parent-child conversation did not predict ego-resiliency and career identity. Peer attachment and satisfaction in teacher at a community child care center was fully mediated by ego-resiliency and self-esteem to career identity. Second, in the latent mean analysis, male students showed significantly higher latent mean values in ego-resiliency and self-esteem than female students, while female students showed significantly higher latent mean values in parent-child conversation than male students. Third, multi-group analysis revealed different paths to career identity between the genders. Peer attachment can buffer the effect of ego-resiliency and self-esteem on career identity of male students, but satisfaction in teacher at a community child care center buffers more on the ego-resiliency of female students. The results of this study suggest that social support for enhancing ego-resiliency and self-esteem is needed to encourage career identity, and that gender needs to be considered.

  • This study is to find out a way to foster self-directed learning math skills for the low-income youth at child care centers. Taking advantage of EBS materials, we found the youth, low-income youth in particular, were positively influenced to learn mathematics in the way of self-directed and action learning. This program gives a model of the self-directed math learning using the EBS mathematics materials. From the survey of this study, we found see that students started to have a positive attitude for learning and they started to gain new mathematical concept, and improved their problem solving, reasoning, communication and representation skills with these new leaning environments. This study tells us that this type of cooperative learning could help them to have an objective assessment, and gave a positive impact on self-directed learning.

The second-term panel data from the fourth-year Community Child Center Survey was used to analyze 198 adolescents (103 boys, 95 girls) who were first graders at middle schools. SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 20.0 were used to analyze the data through structural equation modeling. The results of the study were as follows: Parental monitoring and peer trust had direct effects on the adolescents' school adjustment, while satisfaction with community child center teachers did not. Parental monitoring, peer trust, and satisfaction with community child center teachers had indirect effects on adolescents' school adjustment mediated through resilience. The school adjustment of low-income adolescents has received attention from both researchers and politicians. The results of this study are notable in that both the important relationships and resilience of low-income adolescents can significantly contribute to their school adjustment in their first year at middle school.
