The Characteristics of Healthy City Project in Korea (국내 건강도시 프로젝트 담당자를 대상으로 한 건강도시 관련 특성 조사)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate healthy city project related characteristics to members of the Korea Healthy Cities Partnership(KHCP). Methods: This study analyzed general characteristics of healthy city, characteristics of healthy city(political support, collaboration & citizen participation, healthy city project, infrastructure development, capacity building), self-evaluation of healthy city and etc by self-questionnaires from February to December, 2007, which were distributed to government workers who were in charged in health city project of 23 membership cities of KHCP. Results: The number of urban city was 11(47.8%) and that of rural municipality was 12(52.5%). Public health center was almost in charge of healthy city project(73.9%). As for the characteristics of healthy city, healthy city municipal budget(91.3%), city health profile(91.3%), technical support of cooperative university(82.6%), healthy city regulation(78.3%), citizen participation(78.3%), committee(73.9%), setting approach(69.9%) and healthy city network(69.6%) were good. But intersectoral collaboration(34.8%), long-term healthy city plan(39.1%), administrative policy or campaign promise(43.5%), programs to the vulnerable population(47.8%), department in charge(47.8%) and seminar(47.8%) were not good. Especially, characteristics of healthy city according to the existence of department in charge were significantly different in intersectoral collaboration, citizen participation, setting approach and healthy city network. Conclusions: In spite of rapid expansion in healthy cities, there were great difficulty in political support, collaboration, department in charge and programs of health equity. So we need to go a long way to achieve the vision of healthy cites by its principles and characteristics.

  • In this paper, it has been discussed on the relation between the anatomical features of woods and the penetration of methyl methacrylate monomer system into major Korean tree species, especially the Pinus koraiensis, Larix leptolepis, Quercus mongolica and Tilia amurensis. 1. There was some differences in penetration of polymers among different tree species, but generally the penetration of ring porous woods seems to be larger than that of diffuse porous woods and it was very difficult to penetrate to Larix leptolepis, especially to the that of heart wood. 2. The penetration on transeverse surface was relatively easy but radial and tangential impregnation were somewhat hard and differences between them were negligible. 3. The penetration of sapwood was larger than that of heartwood and its differences varied according to the existence of tyloses or contents in vessel. 4. Generally the polymer penetration of earlywood was larger than that of latewood in ring porous woods, but on the contrary, penetration of earlywood was small than that of latewood on diffuse porous woods. 5. Vessel diameter of wood had nearly no relation to polymers penetration. This seems to come from the reason that effective vessel diameter varies with the existence of tyloses or contents in vessel. 6. The penetration of ray tracheids was larger than that of ray parenchyma cells in softwoods, but penetration of hardwood rays seems to be small in comparison with softwood ray parenchyma cells. 7. Specific gravity and annual ring width had no relation to the penetration of polymer.

The Characteristics of Foreign and Domestic Coastal Zone Management Indicator System (국내외 연안구역관리 지표체계의 특성)

  • Coastal zone management indicators are being used as an important means of decision making in the process of policy establishment for integrated coastal management and implementation, and these indicators are very useful tools that enable the evaluation of the coastal zone management from an integrated perspective, the understanding and analysis of interactions according to each department. Accordingly, most of organizations in international society and advanced coastal states tend to develop coastal zone management indicator system in order to check current coastal environment, social and economic status, also to grasp effectiveness of the coastal zone management policy. In this research, therefore, the characteristics of coastal zone management indicator system was drawn through understanding of strength and weakness, and conducting comparative analysis of the coastal zone management indicator system according to each level having classified domestic and international coastal zone management indicator system into three aspects at large: natural and environmental aspect; social and economic aspect; and network aspect. As a result, following features were drawn as the common characteristics among the cases in the advanced coastal states: the management means for realization of sustainable coastal zone management; scientific decision making tools for various stakeholders; evaluation means for effectiveness of coastal zone integrated management; and dualization of coastal zone management indicator system; etc. Lastly, based on these common values revealed in the domestic and international coastal management indicator system, a suggestion for correct establishment of the domestic coastal management indicators was proposed in the regional aspect.

Impact of Conflict within Social Welfare Organization on Job Performance : Moderating Effect of Participatory Decision-making (사회복지조직 내 갈등이 직무성과에 미치는 영향 : 참여적 의사결정의 조절효과)

  • This study sought to find out the impact of conflicts in social welfare organizations on job performance and to find out the effects of controlling participatory decision-making in their relationships. To that end, a survey was conducted on workers at social welfare centers in Seoul, Gyeonggi Province and Chungcheong Province, and 360 copies were finally used for analysis and Correlation and hierarchical regression and statistical significance analysis of the adjustment effects were performed. As a result, conflicts within the organization, job performance, and participatory decision-making showed a negative correlation, and as participatory decision-making in the relationship between conflict within the organization and job performance showed a controlled effect, the impact of conflicts within the organization on job performance was reduced. These results suggest that participatory decision-making can alleviate conflicts within an organization and at the same time increase job performance. Based on this, the following suggestions were proposed: They include conflict management strategies in the guidelines for social welfare subjects, establish guidelines for conflict management, provide training for workers, engage workers in employee evaluation and compensation system development, and operate permanent organizations such as the Conflict Handling Committee after investigating conflicts within social welfare organizations.

Cooking Technique Deve1opoment to Improve the Taste of Cooked Rice: -A consumer survey on purchasing rice and cooked rice consumption- (우리 쌀 밥맛 향상을 위한 취반기술 개발 연구 -제1보 소비자의 쌀 구매 및 밥 소비에 관한 실태조사-)

  • As a preliminary study for developing cooking techniques to improve cooked rice flavor, we surveyed consumer perceptions on purchasing rice and the consumption of cooked rice. The quantity of rice purchased by consumers was in the range of $1O{\sim}20$ kg. The purchase criterion for 50% of the subjects was the taste of the cooked rice, and half of the subjects bought their rice at a supermarket. A majority (90%) of the subjects consumed the rice within 1 to 4 months, storing it raw in the package (32.4%) or in a container at room temperature. The rice was cooked for 2 to 5 persons (65%), 1 to 2 times a day (70%) with a pressure cooker (76%). The rice and water volume were measured by eye. The cooked rice was eaten immediately (41.8%) or in 1 to 2 days (48.6%) by keeping it in an electric cooker (63.6%). The subjects perceived the rice cultivar (37.9%) as the major factor for the cooked rice flavor, as well as the region of origin (21.3%), and storage period (11.9%); the cultivars of Ilmi, Ilpoom and Chuchung were preferred. In conclusion, the consumers regard rice as a principal food; however, the methods to measure rice and water are not standardized. To improve the taste of cooked rice, consumers depend on cooking equipment and the rice cultivar.

Development of Intrauterine Insemination Technique in Pig (돼지의 자궁내 인공수정기술개발에 관한 연구)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the possibility of porcine artificial insemination (A·I) on fertilizing capacity using intrauterine inseminator (IUI) method and conventional A·I (CAI) method. Number of sows used in this study was 15 far IUI and 59 fur (CAI), respectively. The results obtained are as fellows: 1 . The frozen and liquid semen used for A·I showed the higher farrowing rate in liquid semen (86.4%) than frozen semen (67%). Number of pigs born per semen type showed the higher values of number of piglets with no statistical significance using frozen semen (9.7) than liquid semen (9.3). 2. The farrowing rate per parity was highest in the 3∼5th parities (100%), f311owe4 by 0∼ 2th parities (60%), and was the smallest in 6 ∼ 10th parities (25%). Number of pigs born per litter was highest in 0∼2th parities (11.3), followed by 3 ∼ 5th parities (9.2) and lowest in 6∼ 10th parities. In the number of pigs bort per litter, the sow s in the high parities delivered lower number of piglets than those in low parities with no significant difference. These results indicated that fertilizing capacity could be improved by using IUI method.

Development of the Electrolysis Ballast Water Treatment System and Test (직접 전기분해식 선박평형수 처리장치 개발과 시험에 관한 연구)

  • Ballast water filled into and discharged from the ballast tank of a ship has a negative impact on local marine environment due to various aquatic organisms contained therein. The IMO developed and adopted "The International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships Ballast Water and Sediments, 2004" with the purpose of protecting the marine environment from transfer of harmful aquatic organisms in ballast water carried by ships. The IMO BWM Convention was approved in September 2016 and ships must be equipped with ballast water management system after September 2017. Ships' ballast water treatment methods are divided into using active substances as electrolytic type, ozone type, chemical dosing type and using physical treatment type as filter type, ultraviolet type. It is also used with a combination of two methods. Electrolysis is superior in terms of cost and efficiency. In this study, basic principles, components, and land base test contents of electrolysis ballast water treatment system, a direct electrolyzed ballast water treatment system, were examined. Land base test was conducted with 300m3/h capacity device at the KIOST Geoje plant where the government test facility was installed. This test validated that the system meets IMO standards.

  • Wide area augmentation system is a system that generates and transmits correction and Integrity information for use in wide area. Typical system is SBAS. In the United States, it operates under the name WAAS, EGNOS in Europe, MSAS in Japan, SDCM in Russia, GAGAN in India. it is developing Korean SBAS which named KASS by 2022 in Korea. SBAS is a standard System that is operated as civil aviation service base and set as international standards by ICAO. So the correction data can only is used for civil SPS receiver. In this paper, we discuss C1P1 DCB estimation which need to use SPS correction service for PPS receiver. Then we analyze C1P1 DCB correction effect under standalone Satellite Navigation and method to use PPS receiver under SPS DGPS. Finally we organize wide area augmentation system for PPS receiver and analysis performance.

공업화(工業化) 속도(速度)에 대한 세계시장(世界市場) 규모(規模)의 영향(影響)

  • 19세기(世紀) 중반(中盤)에 시작된 선진국(先進國)들의 공업화(工業化)는 약 100년이 소요(所要)되었는데 동(東)아시아 신흥공업국(新興工業國)(NICs)들의 경우에는 20~30년이 소요(所要)된 것으로 추정된다. 후자(後者)의 공업화(工業化) 경험은 흔히 '동(東)아시아의 기적(奇蹟)'이라 불린다. 그러나 이 고속성장(高速成長) 혹은 압축성장(壓縮成長)이 가능했던 이유가 무엇이냐에 관해 경제학계(經濟學界) 내외(內外)에서 그리고 국내외(國內外)에서 일치된 의견이 없고, 특히 이 과정에서의 정부(政府)의 역할(役割)을 어떻게 평가하느냐에 관하여는 더욱 그러하다. 신고전(新古典) 경제학(經濟學)은 이 나라들의 가격왜곡(價格歪曲)의 최소화(最小化), 시장기구(市場機構)의 활용(活用), 국제분업(國際分業)에의 참여(參與)에서 주된 이유를 찾고 있는데 비해, 소위 수정주의(修正主義)는 이같은 견해가 사실과 크게 괴리가 있으며 '기적(奇蹟)'은 시장(市場)의 자원배분(資源配分)에 대한 정부개입(政府介入)이 주효(奏效)하였기 때문이라 주장한다. '동(東)아시아의 기적(奇蹟)'은 동(東)아시아란 지역(地域)에서 일어난 현상일 뿐 아니라 20세기(世紀) 후반(後半)에 일어난 동시대적(同時代的) 현상이기도 하다. 공업화(工業化)를 이룬 나라들은 모두 세계시장(世界市場)과 활발히 교역(交易)하였다는 공통점이 있는데, 세계시장(世界市場)의 규모(規模)를 대표하는 세계총수출(世界總輸出)이 19세기(世紀) 중반(中盤)과 20세기(世紀) 후반(後半) 사이에 실질기준(實質基準)으로 100배 이상 커졌다. 이 글은 세계시장(世界市場)의 규모증대(規模增大)가 동(東)아시아 NICs들의 고속성장(高速成長)의 이유(理由)였을 가능성(可能性)을 이론적(理論的)으로, 실증적(實證的)으로 검토해본 것이다. 이론적(理論的)으로는, A Lewis의 무한노동공급(無限勞動供給)(unlimited supply of labor)이 존재하는 경제(經濟)에서는 세계시장((世界市場) 상대가격(相對價格)이 불변(不變)인 한 제조업내(製造業內) 노동집약도(勞動集約度)가 높은 산업(産業)에 대한 투자유인(投資誘因)이 지속된다는 점에 고속성장(高速成長)의 근거가 있다고 보았다. 이러한 투자(投資)의 지속은 제조업부문(製造業部門)의 산출(産出)과 고용(雇傭)이 경제(經濟)에서 점하는 비중(比重)을 낮은 자원비용(資源費用)으로 증대(增大)시킬 것이기 때문이다. 실증분석(實證分析)에서는, 필요한 통계자료(統計資料)가 있는 19개국의 공업화(工業化) 경험(經驗)을 검토하였는데, 한 나라가 공업화(工業化)를 시작하는 시점(時點)의 세계총수출(世界總輸出)이 클수록 그 나라의 공업화(工業化) 소요기간(所要期間)이 단축(短縮)된다는 매우 확실한 증거가 있었다. 또한 동(東)아시아 NICs의 공업화(工業化) 소요기간(所要期間)이 선진국(先進國) 경험에 비해 약 1/4의 길이로, 혹은 그보다 더 짧게 단축(短縮)된 것은 거의 모두 세계총수출(世界總輸出) 규모(規模)의 증가(增加)로 설명될 수 있었다. 이같은 이론적(理論的) 근거(根據)와 실증적(實證的) 증거(證據)를 감안할 때, 우리 경제(經濟)는 정부주도형(政府主導型)이었으나 고속성장(高速成長)을 가능하게 한 것은 정부주도(政府主導)보다는 그 규모(規模)가 대폭 증대한 세계시장(世界市場)에서의 국제분업(國際分業)이었다.

Estimation of Theoretical and Technical Potentials of Geothermal Power Generation using Enhanced Geothermal System (우리나라 EGS 지열발전의 이론적 및 기술적 잠재량 평가)

  • We estimated geothermal power generation potential in Korea through Enhanced Geothermal System (EGS) technology following the recently proposed protocol which was endorsed by international organizations. Input thermal and physical data for estimation are density, specific heat and thermal conductivity measurements from 1,516 outcrop samples, 180 heat production, 352 heat flow, and 52 mean surface temperature data. Inland area was digitized into 34,742 grids of $1'{\times}1'$ size and temperature distribution and available heat were calculated for 1 km depth interval from 3 km down to 10 km. Thus estimated theoretical potential reached 6,975 GW which is 92 times total generation capacity of Korea in 2010. Technical potential down to 6.5 km and considering land accessibility, thermal recovery ratio of 0.14 and temperature drawdown factor of $10^{\circ}C$ was 19.6 GW. If we disregard temperature drawdown factor, which can be considered in estimating economic potential, the technical potential increases up to 56 GW.
