지상파방송국들인 KBS, MBC, SBS 등의 방송국들은 다양한 프로그램들을 생산하고 방송하는 미디어 스테이션의 역할을 하고 있으며 TV조선과 같은 종합편성채널 및 케이블 채널이 가세하여 다양한 형태의 방송프로그램을 쏟아내고 있는 현실에서 시청자는 리모콘이라는 강력한 무기를 가지고 방송국들을 심판하고 선택하게 되는데 방송국들은 선택받기 위한 노력으로 프로그램의 질적가치를 높혀서 시청자들의 만족감을 높이려는 노력과 더불어 방송국 자체의 정체성을 확고이하고 이를 알리는데 홍보의 중점을 두려하는데 이것이 스테이션 아이덴티티에 각 지상파방송국들이 투자하고 있는 이유이기도 하며 이 스테이션 아이덴티티를 통해서 자사의 이미지를 제고하고 프로그램의 안정성을 확보하려는 방송국들의 전략을 볼 수 있다.

ATSC terrestrial DTV system can support high data rates for HDTV(High Definition Television) service, but it suffers from significant performance degradation caused by multipath fading. Thus, it is necessary to analyze multipath fading effects in order to enhance the DTV reception performance. Generally, DTV channel profile can be obtained by auto-correlation between reference pseudo random signal and received DTV signal. However, in the ATSC terrestrial DTV system, the estimation performance of DTV channel profile may be decreased due to the VSB modulation features. In this paper, improved DTV channel profile measurement technique is analyzed and proposed.

The purpose of this study is to research on the mechanism of exportation of Korean TV programs. As a result, the buying countries of Korean TV programs have been relatively diversified : 40 countries across the world. However, examining the frequency of exportation has shown that it primarily focused on few countries such as Japan and Taiwan. Furthermore, drama has been the most preferred genre by foreign countries. Fortunately, remakes, dubbing productions, publications, and merchandising have been started to develop. As for the trade partner, the portion of foreign distributors has been ranked as a the most prioritized type. Therefore, it is necessary to open the existing closed system of distribution of Korean free TV to build more diversified partnership.

This paper describes a structure of adaptive equalizer to improve reception performance of ATSC digital television (DTV) for 8-VSB receivers. There are many strong and dynamic echoes affecting reliable reception of DTV signal. Conventional DFE based least mean square (LMS) algorithm is readily implemented and has good Performance. There are still problems to be solved, however, in handling strong echoes and indoor reception. In this paper, structure of adaptive equalizer to mitigate these Problems in strong multipath interference conditions and indoor reception environment is first presented. Methods to reduce error propagation effects on DFE and initialization scheme of filter coefficients for fast convergence are then introduced. Computer simulation results prove that an adaptive equalizer with proposed design methods can combat with Brazil Ensemble and the Threshold of Visibility(TOV) is improved.

This paper presents a method to determine the rolloff factors of both the digital terrestrial TV modulator and the bandpass filter (BPF) at the digital TV receiver input, using an analytical power spectral density model satisfying given co-channel and adjacent channel protection ratios for the digital terrestrial broadcasting services. Since the proposed method is very simple and effective to use, also can be used regardless of type of systems or modulation techniques, this method is expected to be applied to select some other digital terrestrial broadcasting system specifications.

현대문명의 얼굴인 텔레비전방송에 30여년 전 컬러텔레비전의 등장이래 가장 큰 혁신의 바람이 불기 시작했다. 세계 최대의 TV보유국가인 미국의 주요 방송사들은 1998년 10월부터 디지털방송을 개시하는가하면 일본은 2000년의 시험방송을 거쳐 2001년부터 디지털TV 본방송을 게시할 예정이다. 유럽도 1998년에 디지털 TV 시험방송을 시작한다. 영국의 BBC방송은 이미 1995년부터 디지털 라디오방송을 내보내고 있다. 우리나라도 2001년부터 10년간 단계적으로 모든 지상파 TV와 FM라디오방송을 디지털식으로 전환한다. 세계는 마침내 본격적인 디지털시대로 들어가고 있다.

디지털 방송이 본격화되면 기존의 아날로그 방송과는 달리 영상과 음성정보에 추가하여 데이터를 전송할 수 있으며, 여기에 주변 기기를 이용한 대화형 TV를 구현할 수 있다. 일반적인 대화형 TV의 지상파 및 케이블 방송의 매체별 현황, 세계적인 규격 활동 및 그 특징을 파악하고 향후 발전 방향에 대해서도 논의하고자 한다. 아울러 앞으로 대화형 TV에 적용 가능한 여러 가지 어플리케이션에 대해서도 논의를 하였으며, 각 업체들의 현황 및 특징도 나열하였다. 이러한 대화형 TV의 발전은 앞으로의 방송 문화에도 상당히 많은 변화를 불러일으키며, 기타 방송에 관련된 산업 전반의 발전에 기여할 것이다.
