Fear of contact exists due to the prevention of the spread of infectious diseases such as COVID-19. When using the common entrance door of an apartment, access is possible only if the resident enters a password or obtains the resident's permission. There is the inconvenience of having to manually enter the number and password for the common entrance door to enter. Also, contactless entry is required due to COVID-19. Due to the development of ICT, users can be easily identified through the development of face recognition and voice recognition technology. The proposed method detects a visitor's face through a CCTV or camera attached to the common entrance door, recognizes the face, and identifies it as a registered resident. Then, based on the registered information of the resident, it is possible to operate without contact by interworking with the elevator on the server. In particular, if face recognition fails with a hat or mask, the visitor is identified by voice or additional authentication of the visitor is performed based on the voice message. It is possible to block the spread of contagiousness without leaving any contactless function and fingerprint information when entering and exiting the front door of an apartment house, and without the inconvenience of access.

A PUF is a technology for distinguishing a device from other devices like biological information such as humans' iris or fingerprints. Over the past decade, many researchers studied various methods for implementing PUFs and utilizing them in identification, random number generation, key distribution and authentication. However, various attacks on the PUFs are the major reason to inhibiting the proliferation of PUF. For the reasons, various technologies are being studied to enhance safety of PUFs. In this paper, we will see several PUF implementations and various attacks on PUFs, and suggest guidelines for securely implementing PUFs. We expect our guidelines would be the foundation for implementing the secure and reliable PUFs.
In eastern countries stamps have been used more commonly than signatures when approving contracts and documents. Unlike finger prints, stamp images do not share similar patterns to each other and the resolution of stamp images is determined by the input status such as pressure under which stamps are put. This paper discusses the development of a system for recognizing stamp images of Korean or Chinese characters. Recognition of stamp images consists of several steps: acquisition of stamp images from an input device, digitization, contrast stretching, noise removal, and matching. We tested the system on 50 stamp images (20 stamp images of Korean characters, 20 images of Chinese characters, and 10 similar images). There was little difference in discrimination rate between the stamp images of Korean character and those of Chinese characters. 46 stamps images out of 50 were successfully recognized, resulting in 92% discrimination rate. Orientation and pressure under which stamps are put played an important role in determining discrimination rate. Automated stamp image recognition can be made more practical and useful by extending the types of stamp images to ellipses and rectangles and by improving the discrimination rate.
Biometric technology is a technology for authenticating a user using the physical or behavioral features of the inherent characteristics of the individual. With the necessity and efficiency of the technology in the fields of finance, security, access control, medical welfare, inspection, and entertainment, the service range has been expanding. Biometrics using biometric information such as fingerprints and faces have been exposed to counterfeit and disguised threats and become a social problem. Recent studies using a bio-signal from the inside of the body other than the bio-information of the external body are being developed. This paper analyzes the recent research and technology of biometric systems using bio-signals, ECG, heart sounds, EEG, and EMG to present the skills needed for the development direction. In the future, utilizing the deep learning to build and analyze database to manage bio-signal based big data for the complex condition of individuals, biometrics technologies suitable for real time environment are expected to be researched.
As the innovative technologies related to ubiquitous computing are being rapidly developed in recent IT trend, the concern for IT dysfunction(e.g., personal information abuse, information risk, threat, vulnerability, etc.) are also increasing. In our study, we suggested how to design and implement to multiple schemes for strong authentication mechanism in real system environments. We introduce the systematic and secure authentication technologies that resolve the threats incurring from the abuse and illegal duplication of financial transaction card in the public and financial institutions. The multiple schemes for strong authentication mechanism applied to java technology, so various application programs can be embedded, Independent of different platforms, to the smartcard by applying the consolidated authentication technologies based on encryption and biometrics(e.g., finger print identification). We also introduce the appropriate guidelines which can be easily implemented by the system developer and utilized from the software engineering standpoint of view. Further, we proposed ways to utilize java card based biometrics by developing and applying the 'smartcard class library' in order for the developer and engineers involved in real system environment(Secure entrance system) to easily understand the program. Lastly, we briefly introduced the potential for its future business application.
This study aims to investigate the awareness and status of smart attendance systems in the professors and college students who directly use an electronic smart system, a learning management system utilizing IT and to propose a plan for improvement to increase the efficiency of the smart attendance system. As for the research method, this study conducted an online survey with 264 students at S. University to investigate the status of their use and awareness of the smart attendance system. As a result, first, the professors mostly were satisfied with the smart attendance system, and it would be necessary to improve learning ability and the function of self-management in connection with the learning management system. Second, the college students were dissatisfied with the user interface and speed of the smart attendance system, and it would be necessary to improve the delay time, login, update, and false attendance.

Password with a combination of 4-digit numbers has been widely adopted for various authentication systems (such as credit card authentication, digital door lock systems and so on). However, this system could not be safe because the 4-digit password can easily be stolen by predicting it from the fingermarks on the keypad or display screen. Furthermore, due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, contactless method has been preferred over contact method in authentication. This paper suggests a new password input method based on eyeblink pattern analysis in video sequence. In the proposed method, when someone stands in front of a camera, the sequence of eyeblink motions is captured (according to counting signal from 0 to 9 or 9 to 0), analyzed and encoded, producing the desired 4-digit decimal numbers. One does not need to touch something like keypad or perform an exaggerated action, which can become a very important clue for intruders to predict the password.

Car-sharing services have been settled on as a new type of public transportation owing to their enhanced convenience, expanded awareness of practical consumption patterns, the inspiration for environmental conscientiousness, and the diffusion of smart phones following the economic crisis. With development of the market, many people have started using such services. However, security is still an issue. Damage is expected since IDs and passwords are required for log-in when renting and controlling the vehicles. The protocol suggested in this study uses bio-information, providing an optimized service, and convenient (but strong) authentication with various service-provider clouds registering car big data about users through brokers. If using the techniques suggested here, it is feasible to reduce the exposure of the bio-information, and to receive service from multiple service-provider clouds through one particular broker. In addition, the proposed protocol reduces public key operations and session key storage by 20% on mobile devices, compared to existing car-sharing platforms, and because it provides convenient, but strong, authentication (and therefore constitutes a secure channel), it is possible to proceed with secure communications. It is anticipated that the techniques suggested in this study will enhance secure communications and user convenience in the future car-sharing-service cloud environment.
The purpose of this study is to verify the relationship between expectancy confirmation and continuance usage intention in biometric technology. We extend the continuance usage intention model, TAM and expectation confirmation theory by adding perceived privacy, perceived security and trust. Results was analyzed by using structural equations model. The results show that satisfaction and perceived usefulness have positive effect on continuance usage intention in the bright scenario. Perceived privacy and perceived security are positive factors on perceived usefulness, and perceived privacy is positive effect on perceived security. On the other hand, the respondents who are exposed to the dark scenario have negative effects on the perceived privacy, perceived security and trust. And finally, trust has no significant effect on the perceived usefulness.
In Korea, a resident registration card has various personal information such as a present address, a resident registration number, a face picture and a fingerprint. A plastic-type resident card currently used is easy to forge or alter and tricks of forgery grow to be high-degree as time goes on. So, whether a resident card is forged or not is difficult to judge by only an examination with the naked eye. This paper proposed an automatic recognition method of a resident card which recognizes a resident registration number by using a refined ART2-based RBF network newly proposed and authenticates a face picture by a template image matching method. The proposed method, first, extracts areas including a resident registration number and the date of issue from a resident card image by applying Sobel masking, median filtering and horizontal smearing operations to the image in turn. To improve the extraction of individual codes from extracted areas, the original image is binarized by using a high-frequency passing filter and CDM masking is applied to the binaried image fur making image information of individual codes better. Lastly, individual codes, which are targets of recognition, are extracted by applying 4-directional contour tracking algorithm to extracted areas in the binarized image. And this paper proposed a refined ART2-based RBF network to recognize individual codes, which applies ART2 as the loaming structure of the middle layer and dynamicaly adjusts a teaming rate in the teaming of the middle and the output layers by using a fuzzy control method to improve the performance of teaming. Also, for the precise judgement of forgey of a resident card, the proposed method supports a face authentication by using a face template database and a template image matching method. For performance evaluation of the proposed method, this paper maked metamorphoses of an original image of resident card such as a forgey of face picture, an addition of noise, variations of contrast variations of intensity and image blurring, and applied these images with original images to experiments. The results of experiment showed that the proposed method is excellent in the recognition of individual codes and the face authentication fur the automatic recognition of a resident card.
