  • The suspension device that connects the prosthetic leg and the residual limb allows lower limb amputees to wear prosthetic limbs, and is the most sensitive part when using prosthetic limbs as it is always in contact with the residual limb not only while walking but also in everyday life. In this paper, using the principles of attraction and repulsion of permanent magnets, we developed a magnetic lock suspension device that can fix the amputees and prosthetic legs of lower limb amputees by changing the polarity of the magnet. The operation method of the magnetic lock is that when neodymium magnets are placed on the left and right as NNSS based on a non-magnetic brass core, the magnetic force flows outward beyond the brass core using the adsorption member as a medium to generate bonding force. When rotated 90 degrees, the magnet moves to NSNS. The principle is that as the position moves, the magnetic force flows inward and cancels out.Based on this, we conducted a bonding test using tensile strength and a short-term comparative evaluation of the prosthesis with the shuttle lock suspension system, which was a comparison group, to verify reliability and evaluate satisfaction with the prototype. As a result, the tensile strength exceeding the appropriate bonding strength was confirmed, and the magnetic lock showed higher satisfaction than the shuttle lock. In the future, we plan to conduct long-term ADL clinical trials for commercialization and develop a product that can be distributed to actual amputees.

  • In this paper, we propose a Line-of-Sight (LoS)/Non-Line-of-Sight (NLoS) identification- based Human Activity Recognition (HAR) system using Channel State Information (CSI) to improve the accuracy of HAR, which dynamically changes depending on the reception environment. to consider the reception environment of HAR system, the proposed system includes three operational phases: Preprocessing phase, Classification phase, and Activity recognition phase. In the preprocessing phase, amplitude is extracted from CSI raw data, and noise in the extracted amplitude is removed. In the Classification phase, the reception environment is categorized into LoS and NLoS. Then, based on the categorized reception environment, the HAR model is determined based on the result of the reception environment categorization. Finally, in the activity recognition phase, human actions are classified into sitting, walking, standing, and absent using the determined HAR model. To demonstrate the superiority of the proposed system, an experimental implementation was performed and the accuracy of the proposed system was compared with that of the existing HAR system. The results showed that the proposed system achieved 16.25% higher accuracy than the existing system.

  • Digital advertising, both indoors and outdoors, is evolving from traditional 2D formats to more immersive 3D forms. 3D advertising involves creating 3D content and displaying it through large LED installations on two sides of a building's corner, or using 3D hologram projectors indoors. This study examines the production process of 3D hologram projectors used indoors and LED-based 3D content used outdoors, analyzing potential issues and considerations when creating 3D digital advertising content. The findings reveal that while indoor hologram projector content provides 3D effects, the low resolution of the devices makes it challenging to implement complex content. However, they are cost-effective and easy to operate. On the other hand, LED-based 3D advertising content, produced in high resolution, requires more time for content creation and incurs higher hardware installation costs. Despite this, it effectively represents complex content and maximizes visibility due to its enhanced 3D effects. In conclusion, it is crucial to create tailored content that matches the resolution of the display device to maximize 3D effects in advertising. Specifically, when producing 3D billboard-style outdoor advertising content, the structure of the building on which it will be installed must be carefully considered.

  • The paddy environment is classified as a wetland and occupies a very large proportion of the freshwater environment. It is also ecologically important as a habitat and spawning ground for many aquatic insects and amphibian larvae. However, due to climate change and indiscriminate spraying of pesticides, the rice field ecosystem is continuously threatened. In order to restore ecologically damaged rice paddies in the future, information on organisms living in the rice paddy ecosystem, which can serve as a restoration standard, is needed. The eDNA metabarcoding analysis method is a very effective means of accumulating information on many organisms living in the rice field ecosystem because it can indirectly identify the existence of taxa that are no longer found in the target ecosystem due to different adult life periods or metamorphosis. In this study, genes of four species of frogs and nine species of aquatic insects were also discovered, and some taxa were directly discovered in the field. A large number of taxa have been discovered only by DNA searches, and traditional survey methods have only been able to identify very limited taxa. This eDNA-based paddy field biosearch is expected to be very useful in the investigation of biodiversity in agricultural ecosystems due to its strong analytical resolution.
