Optimal Design of Friction Dampers based on the Story Shear Force Distribution of a Building Structure (경주지역에서 발생한 3개 지진의 지진원 및 지진파전파 매질특성에 관한 연구)

  • Parameters including the seismic sources and the elastic wave propagation characteristics were analysed using the observed ground motions from 3 Kyoungju region earthquakes. The Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm was applied to invert all the variables non-linearly and simultaneously with S wave energy In frequency domain. Average stress drop of 3 events and local attenuation parameter ${\kappa}$ were estimated to about 48-bar and 0.0312 respectively. Regional attenuation parameter, Qo and ${\eta}$, were also estimated to be about 417 and 0.83. ${\kappa}$ values are much higher than that of EUS, even though smaller than that of WUS. All these values resultant from this study show that there are differences in some parameters of other studios due to differences in the governing equation. of acceleration motions

Earthquake Engineering Bedrock Based on the Shear Wave Velocities of Rock Strata in Korea (국내 암반지층의 전단파속도에 근거한 지진공학적 기반암 결정)

  • In most current seismic design codes, design earthquake ground motions are defined by a reference spectrum, based on bedrock and site amplification factors that quantify the geotechnical dynamic conditions. Earthquake engineering bedrock is the fundamental geotechnical formation where the seismic waves are attenuated without amplification. To better define bedrock in an earthquake engineering context, shear wave velocity ($V_S$ ) data obtained from in-situ seismic tests were examined for several rock strata in Korea; these data were categorized by borehole drilling investigations. The $V_S$ values for most soft rock data in Korea are > 750 m/s, which is the threshold $V_S$ value for identifying engineering bedrock from a strong motion station. Conversely, VS values are < 750 m/s for 60% of $V_S$ data in weathered rock in Korea. Thus, the soft (or harder) rock strata below the weathered rock layer in Korea can be regarded as earthquake engineering bedrock.

  • We present the Low Power Broadband Low noise amplifier(LNA) that can be applied a whole bandwidth from 3G to 4G LTE. This multi input LNA was designed to steadily amplify through a multi input method regardless the size of the input signal and operate on a wide range of frequency band from a standard 3G CDMA band 1.2GHz to LTE band 2.5GHz. The designed LNA consumes an average of 6mA on a 1.2V power supply and this was affirmed using computer simulation tests. The amplification which was corresponded to the lowest input signal is at a maximum of 20dB and was able to obtain the minimum value of the gain of -10dB. The Noise figure is less than 3dB at a High-gain mode and is less than 15dB at a Low-gain mode.

A Numerical Analysis of Acoustic-Pressure Response of H2-Air Diffusion Flames with Application of Time-Lag Model (시간지연 모델의 적용을 통한 수소/공기 확산화염의 음향파 응답 분석)

  • Acoustic-pressure response of diluted hydrogen-air diffusion flames is investigated numerically by adopting a fully unsteady analysis of flame structures in low and high pressure regimes. As acoustic frequency increases, finite-rate chemistry is enhanced through a nonlinear accumulation of heat release rate for any pressure regime, leading to a high amplification index. Same numerical results are analyzed with application of a pressure-sensitive time lag model, and thereby, interaction index and time lag are calculated for each pressure regime. The interaction index has the largest value in each pressure regime at an acoustic frequency near 1000 Hz. In a high-pressure regime, flames are more unstable than in a low-pressure regime. The interaction index shows a good agreement with the amplification index.

  • In this paper, planar duplexer module combined with power amplifier is described. This new scheme is to enhance power efficiency as well as to minimize the size of RF circuit in CDMA phone. Each filter which was a part of duplexer, was realized with planar type and rearranged into the power amplifier module on the multilayer board. Each electrical specifications of existing power amplifier and duplexer were satisfied. Especially, ACPR performances measured at output power of 24dBm which is 2dB lower than that of a conventional one, meet IS-95 for a power amplifier of CDMA phone. Overall current about 80mA has been successfully saved as a result of new scheme. In addition, the module size has been reduced to be as small as 1.08CC.

  • In this paper, we introduce our smart phone application for hearing impaired people. Unlike previous hearing aids application, our application has both functions of self hearing tests and sound amplification. We provide user with two types of self hearing test, those are standard hearing test and detail hearing test. Each test has different advantages like short test time and accurate test result, however both tests provide reliable result. Our hearing test allows that user can measure their hearing loss level according to the frequency. Sound amplification function provide proper fitting formula by using NAL-NL1, and it guarantees high speech intelligibility. Our application can also memorize user's fitting data at specific test condition. Therefore those who using our hearing aids application can easily reset their hearing aids / earphone properties periodically. Our application is advanced at the aspect of self fitting function that no other previous application did. So we are expecting these comfortable processes about fitting lead the number of hearing aids user to be increased.

A Low Complexity Subcarrier Pairing Scheme for OFDM Based Multiple AF Relay Systems (OFDM 기반 다중 증폭 후 전달 릴레이 시스템에서 낮은 복잡도를 가지는 부반송파 페어링 기법)

  • We consider an OFDM based multiple AF relaying systems. Since the channel between first hop (source station-relay station) and second hop (relay station -destination station) varies independently, the subcarrier in the first hop can be paired to another subcarrier in the second hop for the increase of the system capacity. The conventional pairing which uses the brute force searching requires large complexity while giving optimal pairing for maximum system capacity. In this paper, we present sub-optimal subcarrier pairing scheme with low complexity. Every RS firstly pairs the subcarrier with the highest channel gain in the first hop to the subcarrier with highest channel gain in the second hop. The pair with the highest SNR among all the pairs is determined as final selected pair and the corresponding subcarriers are not selected at other RSs in the next paring iteration. This process is repeated until all the subcarriers are paired. Simulation results show the proposed pairing scheme achieves near optimal performance with low complexity.

  • Natural frequency variations in a vehicle-bridge interaction system is examined. The interaction system is designed for a simple beam subject to a moving vehicle. The equation of motion for the system is derived under the quarter-car condition, and numerical simulation is performed. Frequency amplification ratio (FAR) is defined as a ratio between the initial and the varying natural frequency of the system; a discontinuity in the FAR implies a resonance condition. Analysis is mainly focused on patterns, frequency variation characteristics, and discontinuity points of the FAR under the vehicle mass and tire stiffness variations. The result reveals that the interactions between the system affects the natural frequency of both the vehicle and the bridge in similar frequency regions that can be visually identified at the middle of the span using the FAR.

  • A new Modem technique - 8SQAM(8-state Superposed Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) - for use in power and bandwidth limited digital communication system is proposed. 8SQAM is free of inter-symbol interference(ISI) and generates output signals which have a smooth and continuous phase transition and a reduced envelope fluctuation by keeping correlation between amplitudes and phases of two subsequent symbols. Accordingly, 8SQAM, as compared with a conventional 8PSK, is influenced a little by ISI and inter-modulation(IM) caused by nonlinear distortions. In this paper, the performance of the 8SQAM system, in a nonlinearly amplified channel impaired by additive white Gaussian noise(AWGN), ISI and IM, is analyzed via computer simulation. The simulation result shows that 8SQAM outperforms 8PSK with roll-off value of $\alpha$=0.25 by 2.5dB in CNR to maintain BER=1$\times$10$^{-4}$ when input back-off(IBO) of HPA is 3dB.

고에너지 입자 검출기 STEIN의 아날로그회로 설계

  • 경희대학교 우주탐사학과에서는 우주공간 탐사를 위해 Trio(TRiplet Ionospheric Observatory)-CINEMA(Cubesat for Ions, Neutrals, Electrons and MAgnetic fields)로 명명된 초소형 위성을 개발하고 있다. 과학임무는 지구 저궤도에서 고에너지 입자를 관측하는 것이며, 이를 위해 고에너지 (2~300keV) 입자 검출기와 자기장 측정기가 탑재된다. 저에너지 입자 검출기 시스템인 STEIN(SupraThermal Electrons, Ions, Neutrals)은 $1\times4$ Array의 개선된 실리콘 검출기와 이온, 전자, 중성입자를 분리할 수 있는 정전장 편향기, 그리고 신호를 처리하는 전자회로로 구성되어있다. 설계된 전자회로는 매우 작은 검출기 기판, 아날로그 기판과 디지털 기판으로 이루어져 있고, 475mW 이하의 저 전력으로 동작한다. 또한 2~100keV의 에너지를 1keV이하의 해상도로 30,000event/sec/pixel 까지 관측 할 수 있도록 회로를 설계하였다. 센서로 들어온 입자로 인해 발생한 펄스의 신호는 4개의 아날로그 회로가 담당하게 되는데, Folded cascode amplifier를 배치하여 증폭률을 높인 Charge sensitive amplifier를 통해 신호를 증폭하고, $2{\mu}s$ unipolar gaussian shaping amplifier를 통해 읽기 쉽게 처리된 신호를 상한파고선별기와 하한파고 선별기를 통해 유효 값 여부를 판단하고, 피크 검출기를 통해 피크의 타이밍을 측정한 뒤 신호를 아날로그-디지털 변환 회로를 통하여 8bit의 값으로 나타내어, 입자들의 Spectrum을 측정하게 된다. 크기와 소비전력이 적음에도 검출성능이 우수하기 때문에 이 시스템은 향후 우주탐사 시스템에 있어 매우 중요한 역할을 수행 할 것으로 생각한다.
