This study focused on the traits of variables related to parenthood, family strengths and perceptions of future parent's roles. The subjects were the 409 middle school students in Gwangju. Using structured questionnaire surveyed between 2007. 6. 20 and 2007. 6. 26. Data were analyzed with Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Std, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, T-test, Chi-Square, ANOVA, and Duncan's test using SPSS/PC WIN 14.0 program. The major findings were as follows: 1. When asked if you married, most students replied "yes", and childbirth plan replied "yes". The 78.2 percent of schoolgirls and 74.6 percent of schoolboys responded that responsibility of bringing up children was man and wife. The most important Parental meaning was 'fosterer'. The middle school students' family strengths scores were higher than median(3.00). Over all, the perceptions of future parent's roles were high. 2. Perceptions of future parent's roles showed partially significant difference according to the most important Parental meaning, responsibility of bringing up children, intimacy with parent, dual-income family, and family strengths.

The purpose of this study is to present the need of developing reading education programs for preventing school violence that reading education program has on teenagers' attitude, awareness and empathy of school violence. According to the analysis results is as follows. First, Reading education program influenced on the attitude of the school violence. They had a meaningful effect about the sub-factor of the school violence permissive, attitude for the victim and attacker. Second, Reading education program had an influence on empathy ability. They had a meaningful effect about the sub-factor of the empathy ability take view point, empathic concern, individual anguish and imaging.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate satisfaction with and perception of the school meal service according to middle school students and dieticians/dietetic teachers in Gwangju area who experienced change to the free meal service and the main contents were as follows. Methods: The research subjects were 197 students (99 boys and 98 girls) and 42 dieticians/dietetic teachers were recruited. Results: Compared to the free meal service before, satisfaction of students was high (53.8%), and 69.9% of students said there was no change in the school meals, however a significant difference was observed between gender. Overall 80.2% of middle school students said that there was no change in menu, 70.6% were no change in the frequency of food with high preference, and 64.0% were no change in leftover of meals. 85.7% of dieticians/dietetic teachers said that there was no change in the student's satisfaction according to the conversion of free meal services; 59.5% of dieticians/dietetic teachers said that there was no change in the frequency of foods with high preference, the variety of vegetables was increased in the qualitative change item of food materials, and 95% of them were not aware of change in the amount of students' leftover foods. Dieticians/dietetic teachers had limitations in selecting menus with purchase and costs of food materials (26.2%) by conversion of the free meal service and their priority considered was the food cost (45.2%) when they selected menus. Change in feeding affairs was office work management (26.2%) and recipe research and development (19.0%). Conclusion: With the results of this study, the satisfaction with the school meal service was not changed in the awareness of students and dieticians/dietetic teachers. Therefore further study is needed to determine the middle school's satisfaction with school meals based on a variety of factors including the environmental food meal services.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate factors associated with sexual debut among Korean middle school students. Methods: From the database of the Eighth Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey (KYRBS), the researchers selected 37,297 middle school students aged 12-15 years. Data were analyzed using $x^2$ test and multiple logistic regression with the SPSS WIN 18.0 program. Results: The proportion of middle school students who had a sexual debut was 2.1% of boys and 1.5% of girls. In multiple regression analysis, economic status, experience of part time work, smoking, drug use and depression were associated with an increased proportion of sexual intercourse for both boys and girls. Living with parents, drinking alcohol and suicidal ideation were associated with sexual debut for boys only. By contrast, formal sexual education was associated with a reduced risk of sexual debut. Conclusion: The results of this study show the factors associated with sexual debut among Korean middle school students. Gender-related interventions should be taken into consideration in school sexual education programmes, because of differences in related factors according to gender.

Objectives: This study was designed to understand the oral health knowledge & conduct of middle-school students, search for the learning objective and the educational method in line with the subjects and of utilizing as the basic data for an effective oral health-care program. Methods: The samples to achieve the purpose of this research are composed of 139 students in middle-school, OO county. Chungcheongbuk-do, the number of male students 64, and female students 75. Data were statistically analyzed by frequency analysis, $x^2$-test or Fisher's exact test by using SPSS WIN Ver. 12.0. Results: Among items on oral-health knowledge in middle-school students. the awareness ratio on a cause and preventive method for oral disease was surveyed to be lower than the awareness ratio on symptoms of oral disease. As a result of examining by comparing knowledge and behavior on the time of tooth brush. both awareness and behavior were the level of 50% or less than it. In particular, 46.2% perceived after lunch. but practice just accounted for 33.0%. The frequency of tooth brush a day was the largest in a case(47.5%) of doing twice a day. However. there was also the response (5.8%) with saying of brushing once or not brushing even once. Thus, the practice of tooth brush was surveyed to be very low even if being a minority of students. The frequency of taking a light meal was 68.8% in less than twice a day. However, even students of taking more than five times were surveyed to be 9.8%. Out of the whole-body health in over 50%-59.9%. the oral health was surveyed to be perceived to be very important. Compared to the awareness level on importance of a tooth, the ratio of visiting a dentistry was analyzed to be very low. Conclusions: The study results suggest that the school oral-health project was examined to have the necessity of being expanded and carried out even in middle-and-high schools, by which the specific oral-health promotion program including oral-health education in this period is developed.
The purpose of this study was to explore middle school students' perceptions about earth systems in order to implement the 2009 revised national science curriculum effectively. A total of 1219 students participated in the survey and asked to determine their basic understandings about earth systems, self-reported knowledge level, and perceived significance level of the 23 earth systems concepts (contents). In relation to students' basic understandings about earth system, approximately 67% students reported that they didn't know about the term of the earth system. Atmosphere and hydrosphere were highly perceived as major component of earth system. However, cryoshere was perceived to be least familiar by the subjects. The findings also showed that students' self-reported knowledge level and significance level about major ESU#4, #5, #6 related concepts (contents) were significantly different by gender. Most of male students were more knowledgeable and perceived more significant than female students. Regarding the difference of the perceived significance level by grade, 10 out of 23 concepts were significantly different. Some implications for implementing the revised curriculum and school fields were discussed.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the secondary school students' reasoning types in regards to measurement and to get implications for science education. The subjects were 197 middle school students and 200 high school students. The PMQ1 written instrument was used to explore students' ideas. Students' ideas about measurement were classified in two types of point and set reasoning. The reasoning types distribution were analyzed by grade and measurement step such as data collection, data processing, and data comparison. Reasoning types distribution by measurement step indicated that set reasoning type showed high figures in data processing, but point reasoning type appeared in data collection, and data comparison. Set reasoning type increased significantly by grade in data comparison. The majority of students recognized that the true value of the measurand can not be determined.
The purpose of this study is to examine and better understand student's perception of territory in the deterritorialized world. Students' sketch maps were analyzed to investigate the way of which they recognized the form of national territory, border, geographic location, and neighboring countries. In addition, students' values, attitudes, and affection for their homeland and other countries were observed through the awareness of North Korea, DMZ, and Dok-do island. Scrutinizing students' sketch maps and follow-up interviews provided much more in-depth context for understanding students' narratives about territorial identity than did the analysis of structured surveys since they can freely draw and sketch their cognition. A qualitative data analysis builded a code list with 67 codes generated from 626 quotations. These data were exported to CSV format to elicit and evaluate differential variances of territorial identity along with student's Social Studies score and Grade Point Average for inferential statistics and quantitative data analysis using SPSS. Based on the results of data analysis and discussion, some suggestions to build a model of territorial education and to develop teaching and learning materials in the domain of geography education were provided.

This study explored the types of conceptual change of 'force' within middle school students' conceptual ecologies. This qualitative study was implemented with the use of classroom observations and two interviews with the participants. 11 middle school students (7 females and 4 males) joined in this study. The interviews with the participants were conducted individually before and after the 'force' unit. The collected data were all transcribed and analyzed interpretively. The results of this study consisted of two parts. First, the participants' conceptual ecologies of 'force' were categorized into 4: epistemological commitments (fixed or interactional explanatory consistency), analogy (attribute, working), metaphysical beliefs (people-oriented ontology, animism, causationism, mixed), and past experiences. Second, two representative cases including 'stable' and 'transitional' states were explained based on the interactions within their own conceptual ecologies. We can see students' conceptions with the integrated perspective in the sense that this results tried to get contextual and interactional understandings of the status of the conception and the possibilities of conceptual change. In addition, it implied that conceptual change research should have the perspective of conceptual ecology evolution in the future.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the middle school students' allowance managing behaviors and consumer education by the educational subject in order to explore a desirable direction of consumer education for allowance management. Questionnaire survey was conducted with 468 middle school students in Gyeongnam. The major findings are as follows: First, as for recognition of consumer education, the consumer education from home was the highest, and then the from school and mass media followed in that order. Second, the average score of the students' allowance managing behavior was low. The fulfillment ability was relatively high compared to planning and evaluative ability. Third, as for overall allowance managing behaviors, the more promoted a students' level of consumer education from school and mass media, the more cultivated his/her allowance managing behaviors. As for allowance managing behaviors in accordance with sub-factors, students' planning and fulfillment abilities were more cultivated, the more promoted his/her level of consumer education from school and mass media. Students' evaluative ability was more cultivated, the more promoted his/her level of consumer education from school and mass media. Fourth, there were differences in educational contents the students wanted in accordance with the educational subjects of consumer education. The consumer education can be more practical when it is connected with home, school, and mass media, development of an educational program with such connection is necessary.
