Pile load tests were carried out to investigate the contribution of the pile cap to the carrying capacity of a pile group and load transfer characteristics of piles in the group. A group of 24 piles$(4 \times6 array)$ of 92.5mm diameter steel pipe were installed to the depth of 3m fron the ground surface, the top of weathered rock. A maximum load of 320ton was applied to the pile cap, $1.5\times2.3m$, in contact with the ground surface. At the maximum load of 320ton, the pile cap has carried 22% of the total load. Average ultimate capacity of pile in the pile group was estimated to be 16.4ton, substantially higher than that of single pile, installed at the corner and tested before pile cap construction. For the same magnitude of settlement, the pile in the center carried less load than the pile at the perimeter due to strain superposition effect. Piles in the group showed almost constant contribution(approx. 60%) of side friction to the total capacity for all of the loading stages, while that of single pile decreased from 82% to 65%.

Characteristics of ground-penetrating radar(GPR) signals for detecting buried pipes are investigated numerically. Transmitting and receiving parts of a GPR system, a subsurface soil and a plastic pipe filled with a dielectric material are modeled by using the finite-difference time-domain(FDTD) method. FDTD simulations for observing aspects of GPR signals are performed as a function of the diameter of the pipe and the permittivity of the filling material in the pipe. GPR signals scattered by a dielectric filled pipe appear as a superposition of two waves, such as the specular wave from the front convex surface of the pipe and the axial wave from the rear concave surface of the pipe. We show that the amplitude, the polarity, the delay time of two waves depend on the size of the pipe and the permittivity of the filling material in the pipe.
Glutathione(L-$\gamma$ -glutamyl-L-cysteinylglycine, GSH) produced by microbial enzymes was separated by a liquid chromatography. In order to select a resin which would bind GSH efficiently, a batch adsorption experiment was carried out with GSH solution and various resins at pH 8.0 GSH bound to Q-sepharose and QAE-sephadex among anion exchange resins, but the latter was found not to be suitable because of the reduction of resin volume at high salt concentration. Preliminary experiments using a standard solution were carried out to separate GSH. GSH and $\gamma$ -glutamylcysteine were separated from the other constituents by applying step gradient of salt(NaCl) concentration. GSH was successfully separated from $\gamma$ -glutamylcysteine by applying Tris buffer containing 35mM NaCl. Chromatographic separation behaviors for the enzymatic product was similar to that for the standard solution. Separation yields of GSH from the standard solution and enzymatic product solution were 72.6% and 84.4%, respectively.
Development of an optimal water supply system considering water quantity, quality, and economical efficiency is needed to decide optimal available area by combine water supply systems in overlapped area where are more than 2 water sources. The EPAnet and the KModSim were coupled to develop optimal network model. The developed network model was calibrated by measured data from water supply system in Geoje City, Korea in 2007 which have three water sources such as Sadeong booster pumping station, Guchun dam reservoir and Yoncho dam reservoir. The optimum network model was validated by operating results of 2011 to assess the economically optimized service area and optimal pump combination under the given hydraulic operating rules developed in this study. The developed model can be applied into designing water supply systems and operating rules for the conjunctive operation since the model can give the optimal solution satisfied with water quantity, economical efficiency and quality.
With the object of developing a non-gap choke core, effects of annealing in oxygen atmosphere on magnetic properties for Fe$_{78}$Si$_{9}$B$_{13}$ amorphous alloy were investigated. After annealing for 2 hrs at 440 $^{\circ}C$, optimum magnetic properties for choke core were obtained, where the effective permeability was 180 and was almost constant up to several MHz, and the decrease in permeability upon large DC bias current of 12 A or DC bias magnetic field of 8,000 A/m was very little. Moreover the AC magnetic loss was very low as compared to the conventional choke cores. Upon the optimum annealing, the magnetic hysteresis loop was inclined accompanying the increase of coercive force and the appearance of fine crystallites of $\alpha$-Fe phase. The good choke core properties was considered to be due to the suppression of domain boundary motion and domain refinement by the crystallites.
The protecting-chamber for a standing Buddha of Mireuk-ri temple site at Jungwon is composed of granite of Cretaceous age which mainly consists of quartz, perthite, plagioclase, and biotite with minor amounts of muscovite, apatite, chlorite, sericite and opaque mineral. There are abundant cracks which may be developed by strong weathering and differential loading by structural unbalances of the whole protecting-chamber. Cracks can be divided into three types based on genesis as those formed by exfoliation, intrinsic, and pressure. The exfoliation occurred along the onion structure of the granite. The pressure cracks are generally superimposed on the exfoliation ones, which might be developed by structural unbalance of the protecting-chamber resulted from differential loading in places. The structural unbalance may be due to change in physical properties of the rocks according to strong weathering, differential settling of basement soil by difference in loading in places of protecting-chamber, westward creep of the basement soil below the West wall and related different resistance of the basement soil against the loading, and partial depression of the West wall. For the conservation of the protecting-chamber, it must be considered the method of stabilizing the basement and treatment of the cracks.
Purpose: To find an empirical fitting curve to represent the relationship between the luminous transmittance and tinted time in tinted lenses using exponential decay curves. Methods: Total ninety tinted lenses were prepared with CR-39 lenses and six different colored dyes. Single, double and triple exponential decay curves were used as trial curves in order to find the empirical fitting curve. Result: The results showed that the best empirical fitting curve was triple exponential decay curves. Conclusions: We propose triple exponential decay curves as proper empirical fitting curves to represent the tinted-time dependence of the luminous transmittance in tinted lenses.

PHC-W retaining wall method is one of the economical retaining wall methods. PHC-W pile used in PHC-W retaining wall method has special shape with flat surfaces so that the PHW-C retaining wall, with overlapped piles, shows outstanding vertical control and impermeability. In order to evaluate two types of retaining walls, numerical analysis were performed. The selection of cases depended on N values of the ground and ground properties, and two types of PHC-W retaining walls (defined as type A and B) were constructed. For a case that consists of inorganic clay and sand with less than 30 of N value, the maximum excavation depths for type A and B were respectively 10.5 m and 11.0 m. At the other case of which N value is above 30, the depths were 17.0 m and 19.5 m. From the results, it was found that maximum excavation depth, horizontal displacement, and safety factor for flexural strength of the wall were influenced by ground properties.
Present study notes that youth poverty is not only an income deficit, but also a deficit in various dimensions of life such as housing, work and health deficit. Multidimensional poverty is measured by four dimensions: income, work, housing and health. The sample is a 2630 one-person household female youth pooled from the Korea Welfare Panel 10-Year Data. The analysis tool used SPSS statistical program, and the analysis framework was the deficiency rate by dimension, the correlation analysis between deficiency dimension, and the overlapping rate of N dimension poverty. As a result, women's youth in Korea had higher deficit rate in terms of work and housing than other dimensions, and the proportion of women youth who were both poor in work and housing at the same time was also relatively higher than in other cases. Based on these results, this study proposes the construction of customized job services, job matching with small and medium-sized enterprises and allocation of one young woman's household among the targets of long-term chartered housing. Female youth's sharing-economy association should be considered as alternatives.

This study furnishes basis data for plan foundation and proper valuation of view by presenting objective and concrete selection standards and ways of Landscape Control Point(LCP) on valuation of development projects. To sum up the results of study, it establishes the prospect, publicity and direction of view as a selection standard LCP on precedent studies. The prospect, which includes visual range, direction of view, geographical features, and visibility, sets up as a valuation basis picking out the available places which have alterations according to direction and distance in practice. In the case of publicity, to select the place as there presentative area where public activities often happen than others, thirteen evaluation indexes including administration facilities, educational facilities, commercial facilities and so on. And variation of landscape is set up as an assessment index to know how much the land has changed from the beginning to the end of development. To apply the selection standards to sample places, the preliminary LCP is founded by analyzing both the prospect and published; a series of courses for selecting the final LCP is founded by analyzing the preliminary LCP and variableness of landscape on a basic of placed which have many alterations of view. At last, in the case of a selection system for LCP, the preliminary LCP is founded by analyzing both the prospect and publicity; a series of courses for selecting the final LCP is found by analyzing the preliminary LCP and variableness of landscape. Applying selection standards and the assessment index to the Sam-deok 3 residence improvement area, in the case of prospect, the southern distant view area has the largest extent. Next, the results of the assessment using the system of publicity show that a five-lane road is taking up the largest area. Hence, a total of 48 preliminary LCPs are set up by analyzing both the prospect and publicity. The results of analyzing landscape variation, one of the valuation indexes, show that Sam-deok dong around the post office has the highest rate of variation at 28.07%. Finally, three LCPs in each part, which are close range, middle range and distance view, are selected; thus, a total of nine LCPs are selected. The selected LCPs that go through a series of practical courses like a GIS program have a lot of professional opinions and are expected to secure objectivity of landscape assessment.
