  • Our study aims to assess life satisfaction and evaluate its relationship with depression, nutritional status and cognitive function among the elderly. This study is a pathway analysis study using 9089 elderly people and was conducted as a supplemental analysis using the data from the 2017 Korean Elderly Examination Survey. As a result, depression, nutritional status, cognitive function and life satisfaction showed significant correlation. Nutritional status(.46, p=.007), and cognitive function(-.27, p=.014) were directly affected by depression. Both nutritional status(.08, p=.009) and cognitive function(-.03, p=.010) had effect on life satisfaction but life satisfaction was mediated by nutritional status and cognitive function in affecting to life satisfaction. It suggests that nursing intervention is needed for nutritional status and cognitive function for life satisfaction of the elderly.

  • The purpose of this study was to the effects of the Sling Neurac stabilization exercise(SNSE) on pain, cervical lordosis angle(CLA), and cervical gravity line(CGL) in young adults with a forward head posture. The subjects of the study were selected as SNSEG(n=10) and control group(n=10), they were conducted for 70 minutes three times a week for 8 weeks. Study results showed that pain(p<.001), CGLe(p<.01) were significantly decreased and CLA(p<.001) were also significantly increased in the SNSEG. In conclusion, SNSE is effective in improving the proprioceptive sense of the LM group and activating the muscle. Co-activation with the GM group was found to be effective in improving the CLA and CGL. Therefore, reactivation of the deep neck flexors and suboccipital muscles is an important factor in pain control and postural alignment, and is suggested as an effective intervention method to improve forward head posture.

  • In this paper, an improved User Parameter Control (UPC) algorithm is proposed for controlling traffic in ATM networks. The present algorithm consists of Cell Buffer, Red Token Pool, Green Token Pool, and Spacer. A token is generated at a certain time period, and the tokens are consumed one each time a cell arrives. At this time, if the delay element, named Spacer, is empty, the cell comes into the network. On the other hand, if Spacer is not empty, the cell cannot come into the network. In addition, in the case that tokens do not exist in Token Pool, the corresponding cell is thrown away The arbitrary function of the token used in this paper is removed. Instead, the token is used only to control network traffic. This research proposes new UPC Algorithm to improve the current cell delay rate and cell loss rate by dynamically adopting the delay element, named Spacer, with respect to the traffic condition, which is different from controlling that the cell comes into the network after a certain delay time period.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of metabolic syndrome(MS) on quality of life(QoL) using the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey of 2013. We analyzed data for 4,890 adults, aged 19 year or older and provided the correct data about MS and QoL. MS was defined by the National Cholesterol Education Program-Adult Treatment Panel III with Korea-specific waist circumference cutoffs and QoL was measured by the EuroQol 5-dimension(EQ-5D). The prevalence of MS was 22.1% and high density lipoprotein(HDL)-cholesterol was the highest prevalence in MS components. The mean of EQ-5D index was significantly lower in subject with MS compared to subjects without MS. Among MS components, only higher waist circumference led to EQ-5D index decreasing and the regression coefficient was -0.018. In conclusion, we suggest the attention to QoL and intervention program for improving the QoL in subjects with MS.
