An Analysis of Elementary School Teachers' Identification Criteria and Nominations of Gifted Students (관찰추천 과정에서 초등학교 교사가 인식하는 영재학생 판별기준과 추천요인 분석)

  • What are the identification criteria elementary school teachers prefer? What are the characteristics of students that teachers consider when nominating them to gifted programs? Will those criteria of identification/nomination differ as to teacher experiences related to gifted education or teacher involvement in the professional development? This study aims to find the answer to these questions. For this purpose, a total of 511 elementary school teachers with a varying degree of experiences with gifted education were recruited from 23 schools in 11 school districts in Seoul. The results show that teachers generally preferred task commitment, creativity, curiosity, and domain specific talents as criteria for identifying gifted students, while perceiving achievement records, total grades, leadership, and general intelligence as less important. Teachers experienced in gifted education or having been involved in professional development perceived curiosity, task commitment, and creativity as more important than teachers without such experiences. The importance-performance analysis of identification criteria indicates that teachers reported high importance on task commitment, curiosity, and creativity, but those factors were less considered in actual nomination. On the contrary, teachers reported low importance on quick learning and achievement(total grades, subject grades), but those were highly considered in nomination. A similar pattern was found in both experienced and nonexperienced teachers although the importance-performance gap was higher for the latter. Implications for teacher nominations and professional development were discussed.

The Impact of the Library Tour for Pre-librarians on the Importance Perception of the Librarian Core Competency in South Korea (도서관 견학이 예비사서의 사서 핵심능력 중요도 인식에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to practice the library tour program for pre-librarians, to analyze the impact of the library tour program for pre-librarians on librarian job's perception, and to present the educational meaning of library tour program for pre-librarians to the library & information science academies, the librarians in charge of the library tour, and pre-librarians. For doing this, the 29 pre-librarians participated in a library tour are surveyed by the questionnaires before and after library tour program. As a result, it's revealed that the library tour program for pre-librarians is proved to be the educational effects that it establishes the per-librarians' attitudes for librarian job performance. It's meaningful that this study presents the education effects of library tour program to the librarians in charge of library tour program and the pre-librarians.

  • This study analyzed the effect of university students' perception of job competence on job-seeking attitude. The study results showed that certificate and job-related experience significantly affected will of getting a job and self-efficiency. It is suggested that emphasizing the importance of getting a certificate and doing job-related practice is more effective rather than getting higher level of education or good grade to improve university students' job-seeking attitude. Also, if students took job-realated education in university job support center, their importance perception of job-related experience, will of getting a job, degree of self-development were higher. This study provided implications for verifying the importance and effectiveness of job competence in enhancing university students' job-seeking attitude.

The Effect of Investigators' Perception of the Importance of Investigative Elements on Their Intention to Use Profiling: Mediating Effect of Attitude toward Profiling (수사관의 수사요소 중요도 인식이 프로파일링 활용 의도에 미치는 영향: 프로파일링에 대한 태도의 매개효과)

  • Profiling is recognized as a representative application area of domestic criminal psychology, and the National Police Agency profiler is firmly established as a profession. However, compared to the social awareness, the recognition and utilization within the police is not high. In this study, we tried to identify factors affecting the intention to use profiling by identifying the perception of investigators who request and use profiling from a profiler when a violent incident occurs. To this end, the relationship between the perception of the importance of factors considered by investigators in the criminal investigation process and the attitude toward profiling on the intention to use profiling was verified through the path model. As a result of a survey of 340 police investigators, the investigator's perception of the importance of investigation elements was divided into two factors: the importance of normative investigative elements (evidence collection and legal judgment, etc.) and factual investigative elements (criminal analysis, criminal information system analysis, etc.). Among them, the importance of factual investigative elements were found to have a positive effect on the intention to use it by mediating the attitude toward profiling. On the other hand, in the case of the importance of normative investigative elements, it was found to have a negative effect on the attitude toward profiling. These results suggest that the perception that investigators have about investigation, which is their main work area, plays a role in determining whether to request profiling as well as attitude towards profiling. Based on the research results, strategies necessary to activate the use of profiling were discussed.

The Survey of Perception, Performance and Importance in Nursing Practice of Comprehensive Nursing Care Service (간호·간병통합서비스의 간호업무 인식, 수행도, 중요도에 대한 조사연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify a survey on total care services, to verify the perception, performance and importance of nursing practices between nursing students and nurses. The sample of the study were 93 nursing students and 38 nurses, A structured questionnaire used in this study composed of 235 items. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS WIN 20.0 to calculate frequencies, percentage, mean, standard deviation and t-test. The Major findings of this study were as follows: The amount and responsibility of nursing practices in total service showed that 'very much increase'was the most. There were statistically significant differences in performance of total care service by nutritional care and elimination care. There were statistically significant differences in importance of total care service by respiratory Care.

  • 본 논문은 최근 연구가 고조되고 있는 지적 인터페이스에 대한 연구로서, 장애인 복지와 공학적인 일반성을 고려하여 수화를 인식하였다. 장애인의 수화를 인식한다는 입장에서 심리적 부담을주지 않고 최소한의 제한조건만을 설정하여 수화의 흑백동영상을 입력으로 하였다. 수화인식에서 손의 형상과 움직임 방향정보가 제일 중요함을 감안하여 각각 그 정보를 추출하고 인식에 적용하는 방법을 개발하여 그 유효성을 보였다. 즉 형상정보의 추출 및 인식에 대해서는 형상정보만이 중요한 수화 지문자 자음 14자를 대상으로 하여 인식하는 과저을 보였다. 또한 손의 움직임 정보에 대해서는 움직임 방향마이 중요한 정보가되는 간단한 수화 단어 9개를 대상으로 인식하여 그 과정과 방법을 보였다.

Faculties' Perceptions on the Importance and Performance of Effective Teaching Behaviors (대학교수의 효과적인 교수행동에 대한 중요도 인식과 실천 역량 분석)

  • This study analyzed faculties' perceptions on the importance and performance of effective teaching behaviors. The effective teaching behaviors scale consisted of 40 items belonging to 8 factors. A survey was conducted with 86 faculties from 2 universities. It was found that the differences between the importance and performance levels of all items except for 'applying emphasis on important contents' were statistically significant. The scores of importance were higher than those of performance. The results of the IPA showed that 'keep up the good work' area included 19 items that those were high the scores of importance and performance. The 'concentrate here' area included 5 items that need to be improved for effective teaching. The first priority items needing to be improved were 1) Establishing instructional methods and strategies suitable for the objectives, 2) establishing clear objectives, appropriate examples and systematic classes, 3) providing questions, opportunities and appropriate feedback. We suggested that a faculty development program needs to be developed for effective teaching.

An Exploratory Study on Human Right of Social Workers Who Works at the Disabled Residential Facilities - Focused on Busan Area - (IPA를 적용한 장애인거주시설 종사자의 인권에 대한 탐색적 연구 -부산지역 장애인거주시설 종사자를 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the difference of importance-performance about human right of social worker who works in the Disabled Residential Facilities. And based on this result, we wanted suggest strategies to implement human rights for the disabled. We collected data from 539 social worker who works in the Disabled Residential Facilities in Busan. We tried analysis descriptive statistics, T-Test and Importance-Performance Analysis. The Result is first, the importance level(total mean 6.27) was higher than the performance level(total mean 6.07) to human rights of the disabled. Second, in items of human rights of the disabled, there was the difference of the importance and the degree of performance. Third, with the exception of political right, the difference between the importance and performance of liberty, the right to survival, and the social right was statistically significant. Based on these results, I suggest practical implications and future tasks.

Importance of objectives of Housing unit in Home Economics by three systems of action of Home Economics teachers in middle school (중학교 가정과 교사가 인식하는 주생활 영역의 세 행동체계별 목표 중요도)

  • The purpose of this research was to develop objectives of Housing contents in Technology$\cdot$Home Economics by three systems of action and to find out the importance of the objectives of the teachers have taught the class. The 303 teachers from 183 middle schools replied the mail questionnaire during September, 2003. The data were analyzed by SPSS/win. The 21 objectives for each system of action were developed based on the textbooks, teachers guides, and other related references. The importance of the objectives related to communicative system of action was the highest, respectively followed by the ones related to technical and emancipatory systems of action. Indoor Environment & Equipment was more likely to be important than Maintenance & Repairs as the objectives related to communicative system of action, while Usage of Living Space was less likely to be important than the other two sub-units. The importance of the objectives was somewhat differed by the general characteristics of the teachers. The older are the more important the objectives related to technical system of action. Female, Home Economics teachers, who learned philosophy of Home Economics were more likely to think than others objectives related to communicative and emancipatory systems of action to be important. This research showed the teachers' perspectives of the objectives of Housing contents were not the same among respondents and generally supported the previous results from other contents of Home Economics.

사회적 돌봄 지출 결정의 논리와 현실 - 기초자치단체 복지 공무원의 인식을 중심으로 -

  • 이 연구는 사회적 돌봄정책의 결정에 영향을 미치는 요인들에 대한 서울시 공무원들의 인식조사를 통하여 결정요인의 타당성을 검증해 보았다. 검증결과에 의하면, 서울시 공직자들은 현재의 사회적 돌봄정책의 지출이 미흡하다고 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 금액의 부족에도 불구하고 정책의 우선순위에 있어서는 긍정적으로 인식하고 있었다. 이는 사회적 돌봄정책이 긍정적으로 성장하였을 뿐만 아니라, 향후에도 중요한 정책분야가 될 것임을 시사하고 있다. 또한 정책결정요인에 대한 인식조사에서는 시민사회요인과 인구사회요인이 중요하게 나타나고 있어, 수요측면에 대한 정책적 관심이 요구된다. 한편, 지방 정부 공무원들은 정부의 정책적 방향이나 지방정부의 재정능력이 중요하다고 인식하고 있어, 정책수요와 정책공급에 대한 인지부조화 현상이 발생할 가능성을 확인할 수 있다.
