Loss of permanent molar by multiple dental caries traumatic influence or hereditable disease can cause loss of the vertical dimension in children. However traditionally reconstructive treatment to restore vertical dimension in children has been provided by using simple methods such as celluloid crown form and stainless steel crown. The presented case report describes an alternative treatment modality of vertical dimension by using removalbe appliance This appliance is made with average of facial height and maximal clenching force by using T-scan.
The author compared and analysed the roentgenocephalograms of one hundred Korean adults with the normal occlusion (50 males and 50 females), which were taken on the centric occlusion and the rest position of the mandible respectively for every subject, and then researched the relations among the relaxed muscle of the mandible, lightly touched of the lips, and the position just after the swallowing of saliva, of which 38 among 50 males had the rest position of the mandible. The results are as followings: 1. The anterior facial height increases more at the rest position of the mandible than at the centric occlusion, while the posterior facial height decreases. 2. The mandible moves more backward and downward at the rest position of the mandible than at the centric occlusion. 3. The facial procumbency and the incisor tooth inclination increases more at the rest position of the mandible than the centric occlusion in terms of the facial plane. 4. There are no differences between males and females at the rest position of the mandible and the centric occlusion in the meaning of variation. 5. There are no differences among the three methods from the view of lines and angles of the roentgenocephalogram.

To rehabilitate a patient with inappropriate occlusion due to posterior support loss, it is necessary to achieve an appropriate occlusal vertical dimension and create prostheses that demonstrate stable occlusion at the centric relation for full mouth restoration. This case shows full mouth rehabilitation in a patient with missing posterior teeth and tooth wear, achieved through implant-supported prostheses and zirconia full-veneer crowns. To assess adaptation to the increased occlusal vertical dimension, an occlusal splint and temporary restorations were secured. By fabricating the definitive restorations based on the anterior guidance of the temporary restorations, stable occlusal rehabilitation was successfully achieved.
Several authors have proposed techniques and devices by which the correct position of the proximal segment can be maintained both during fixation and postoperatively. Schendel, Epker, Lake, Worms, Ive and Poulton have been discussed the problem of condylar distration in mandibular orthognathic surgery. This study described have showed the some advantages forward repositioning of the condyle head in vertical ramus osteotomy which used with the Mini-Hoffmann sets in external skeletal pin fixation extraorally in 19 cases.
Clinical remounting of complete denture is performed to refine occlusal harmony in maxillo-mandibular relation. It has been reported that patients who used adjusted dentures with clinical remounting felt less complications such as pain and discomfort in mastication. The purpose of this study was to assess effects of clinical remounting with case series. Seven patients with existing complete prosthesis were included. Clinical remounting procedure was done through interocclusal relation recording. In addition, occlusal force was measured with pressure indicating sensor and occlusal contact areas were evaluated with photo occlusion analysis. Occlusal contact areas of prosthesis were enlarged, while bite pressure was not increased. Hit and slide phenomenon of prosthesis was reduced concurrently. Clinical remounting procedure improved denture stability and increased occlusal contact area. Therefore, clinical remounting should be considered.

When the patient with class III malocclusion needs extensive oral rehabilitation due to multiple missing teeth, accurate diagnosis, and careful analysis, such as the patient's occlusal relationship, facial changes, and evaluation of the temporomandibular joint are essential. Orthognathic surgery is often performed for aesthetic improvement, depending on the patient's chief complaint. If it is not possible due to certain circumstances, partial aesthetic improvement can be achieved through minimal elevation of the vertical dimension. As this patient may have unexpected issues, such as temporomandibular joint disorder, oral habits like bruxism, and masticatory muscle tension, it was determined whether the patient could adjust to a reversible temporary removable partial denture. After this, the maxillary implant-supported fixed prostheses and the mandibular fixed prostheses were used to achieve stable posterior support and to partially improve the maxillary anterior esthetics. The patient was satisfied with the results both aesthetically and functionally. The prognosis is expected to be good if regular check-ups are conducted.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the normal range of condylar displacement of normal adults. The author has observed two roentgenographic images of condylar head taken by transcranial projection. Two roentgenographic images are centric occlusion and centric relation. The results were obtained as follow: 1. Total subjects are 72 condyles. The condylar displacement from centric relation to centric occlusion was shown in 65 condyles (90%) anteriorly. 59 condyles (82%) inferiorly. Two condyles (3%) showed neither anterior displacement nor inferior displacement. 2. The average displacement of right condyles was 0.54±0.06㎜ anteriorly, 0.34±0.05㎜ inferiorly. The average displacement of left condyles was 0.74±0.09㎜ anteriorly, 0.45±0.05㎜ inferiorly. 3. The subjects of synmetrical displacement are 7 cases (20%) anteriorly, 2 cases (6%) inferiorly.
Objective: This study was carried out to evaluate the distribution and clinical features of patients with degenerative change of the mandibular condyle. Methods: Six thousand and seventy patients with TMD (temporomandibular cisorder) were selected for this study, who had complete initial clinical records and radiographs. Panorama and TMJ panorama radiographs were used to screen the degenerative change in the condyle, and the patients were divided into DJD (degenerative joint disease) and non-DJD groups. Results: The distribution. and clinical features of the two groups were compared. Out of the total number of patients, 31.7% were in the DJD group, and 68.3% were in the non-DJD group. The portion of females was larger in the DJD group (80.8%) than in the non-DJD group (67.5%), and the DJD group had high prevalence in the second and third decades. Lack of incisal contact, retrusive chin, facial asymmetry, and mouth opening limitation were the chief complaints of the patients who had positive relation to DJD. Conclusion: Patients with an orthodontic treatment history, CO-CR discrepancy and crepitation were at possible risk of having DJD.
Full-mouth rehabilitation with increasing vertical dimension can be used for patients with severely worn teeth. In severely worn teeth also, the alveolar process can be elongated to compensate for the reduced vertical dimension, and the patient's vertical dimension of occlusion can be kept constant. However, full-mouth rehabilitation with increasing vertical dimension must be carefully chosen, because the vertical dimension can be reduced by tooth wear. It is important to establish a treatment plan with the systematic diagnosis of the change in the vertical dimension and gain space for the prosthesis. It is necessary to change the vertical dimension to secure the restoration space and select the minimum vertical dimension elevation for the esthetic and functional goal. In this case report, the patient complained of difficulty during chewing due to a worn dentition and wanted esthetic improvement of the short mandibular anterior teeth. After systematic evaluation and diagnosis, we performed full-mouth rehabilitation with minimum vertical dimension elevation to obtain the space for restoration. This resulted in a stable and harmonious occlusion, and the functional and esthetic problems of the patient were solved after treatment. The patient was satisfied with the results of the treatment and maintained stable occlusion during the follow-up period.
The number of occlusal contact points and he occlusal relation were investigated in dental students who were selected on the basis of normal occlusion and normal function of stomatognathic system. Silicone-Black Bites obtained from fifty subjects were analyzed on their white models and occlusal contacts were traced on models directly. The results were as follows; 1. There was no evident difference in the number of occlusal contact points between right and left sides 2. In the retruded position the numbers of occlusal contact points were $5.96{\pm}3.35$ in the upper jaws and $6.12{\pm}3.52$ in the lower jaws. 3. In the retruded position no occlusal contact point was found on the central and lateral incisors of upper and lower jaws. 4. Occlusal contact points were found almost on second molars of upper and lower jaws in the retruded position.
