Six in - depth interviews were conducted for each of the five participants, and 60 to 120 minutes were required for one meeting. Results: The researchers gathered stories of married middle-aged women who had undergone doctoral studies and divided them into three categories: 'motivation for entry, difficulty during doctoral study, and rewarding during doctoral study'. • As divorce and singlehood have been on the rise over the last decades, marital statuses are more diverse than the past for middle-aged men and women in South Korea. While marital status is crucial for health behaviors and statuses, but few studies examine the associations between health differentials and marital status for the middle-aged in South Korea. Using the 2010 Social Survey collected by the Statistics Korea, this study analyzes how health behaviors and statuses vary by the marital status. In particular, this paper examines whether marital statuses and gender interact to influence health behaviors and statuses. I find that married middle-aged people are healthier than divorced, single, and widowed middle-aged people. But this the negative influence of the non-married status are much greater for men than women. Some female non-married groups do not differ from married middle-aged people in some indicators of health behaviors. Single female middle-aged people are better in general satisfaction levels than married middle-aged people.

First, the life stress showed a significant positive correlation with rumination and depression, and meaningful negative correlation wiith distress tolerance. Also, it showed negative correlation with distress tolerance and rumination. Second, each distress tolerance and rumination showed meaningful mediating effects in the relations of life stress and depression. Third, dual mediating effect of distress tolerance and rumination is showed meaningful in the relations of life stress and depression. Based on the results above, we verified that three variables, life stress, distress tolerance and rumination, affect depression significantly in married middle-aged women and discussed the significance of this result, limitations and suggestions for future studies.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for reducing daily stress and depression and improving happiness in middle-aged women by verifying the effect of daily stress on happiness and the mediating effect of depression. For the analysis, the 8th survey of the Women's Family Panel surveyed by the Korea Women's Policy Institute was used. For the sample, SPSS WIN 25.0 was used for 1,673 married middle-aged women aged 55 to 64. As for the analysis method, frequency, technical statistics, and correlation analysis were performed, and the mediating effect of depression was verified through Baron & Kenny's analysis method. The main analysis results are as follows. First, the stress daily of middle-aged women had a negative (-) effect on happiness. Second, Depression was partially mediated in the relationship between daily stress and happiness in middle-aged women. Based on these results, it is significant in that it presents practical and policy measures and programs that can improve middle-aged women's happiness and lead to old age.
