Fault Detection and Diagnosis of Induction Motors using LPC and DTW Methods (LPC와 DTW 기법을 이용한 유도전동기의 고장검출 및 진단)

  • This paper proposes an efficient two-stage fault prediction algorithm for fault detection and diagnosis of induction motors. In the first phase, we use a linear predictive coding (LPC) method to extract fault patterns. In the second phase, we use a dynamic time warping (DTW) method to match fault patterns. Experiment results using eight vibration data, which were collected from an induction motor of normal fault states with sampling frequency of 8 kHz and sampling time of 2.2 second, showed that our proposed fault prediction algorithm provides about 45% better accuracy than a conventional fault diagnosis algorithm. In addition, we implemented and tested the proposed fault prediction algorithm on a testbed system including TI's TMS320F2812 DSP that we developed.

Surface crack growth behaviors of 304 stainless steel at elevated temperatures (304 스테인리스 鋼의 高溫에서의 表面균열 成長特性에 관한 硏究)

  • Creep and fatigue tests were carried out on crack growth properties of small surface cracks in 304 stainless steel at 538.deg.C, 593.deg. C and 650.deg. C in air, by using small plate specimens with a small artificial pit. All the data of the crack growth rate per hour obtained in the present tests were correlated with the maximum stress intensity factor, so that the applicability of linear fracture mechanics to the crack growth of surface cracks at elevated temperature was investigated. In the creep test, relatiion of .sigma.$\^$n/.t$\_$f/=C is obtained between failure time and nominal stress at each temperature level, where n has the value of 11-14 depending on the temperature level. In the creep and fatigue crack growth properties of surface cracks at the elevated temperatures, the maximum stress intensity factor, $_{4}$$\_$max/, is some extent applicable parameter to describe the surface crack growth rate under the present experimental conditions. The crack growth rate per hour increases when the holding time decreases, and creep crack growth rate per hour becomes the lowest limit of crack growth rate per hour in this tests.

Neighbor Node Discovery and Load Balancing Schemes for Energy-Efficient Clustering in Wireless Sensor Networks (주변 노드 발견을 통한 무선 센서 네트워크에서의 에너지 효율적인 클러스터링 및 전력 균형 분산 기법)

  • Clustering algorithm is an essential element to implement a hierarchical routing protocol, especially for a large-scale wireless sensor network. In this paper, we propose a new type of energy-efficient clustering algorithm, which maximizes the physical distance between cluster head and gateway by a neighbor node discovery mechanism. Furthermore, a slave/master patching scheme is introduced as a useful means of further improving the energy-efficiency. It has been shown that the number of cluster heads can be reduced by as many as 21% as compared with the existing clustering algorithms.

  • The Internet of Things (IoT), which has recently attracted attention as next-generation IT industry, is based on a wired and wireless network platform that can connect various Things. However, it is challenging to implement the IoT platform because of the heterogeneity of the network. Particularly, the ZigBee transmission may be significantly harmed due to Wi-Fi with the relatively much higher power, and this is one of the reason making the platform implementation difficult. In this paper, the ZigBee transmission is measured and analyzed by the BEB algorithm for finding the slot time when ZigBee can transmit, and an actual transmission happens stochastically depending on the network environment. The simulation results show that it guarantees high success rate of the ZigBee transmission by overcoming Wi-Fi interference in the 2.4 GHz frequency band.

Link Scheduling Method Based on CAZAC Sequence for Device-to-Device Communication (D2D 통신 시스템을 위한 CAZAC 시퀀스 기반 링크 스케줄링 기법)

  • FlashLinQ, one of the typical D2D communication systems developed by Qualcomm, considers a single-tone communication based distributed channel-aware link scheduling method to realize the link scheduling process with low control overheads. However, considering the frequency selective fading effect of practical multi-path channel, the single-tone based SIR estimation causes a critical scheduling error problem because the received single-tone signal has quite different channel gain at each sub-carrier location. In order to overcome this problem, we propose a novel link scheduling method based on CAZAC (Constant Amplitude Zero Auto-Correlation) sequence for D2D communication system. In the proposed method, each link has a unique offset value set for the generation of CAZAC sequences. CAZAC sequences with the cyclic offsets are transmitted using multiple sub-blocks in the entire bandwidth, and then each device can obtain nearly full-band SIR using a good cyclic cross-correlation property of CAZAC sequence.

  • This paper introduces a pre-compensation filter for compensating dispersive and resonant properties experienced along the usage of non-ideal wideband antennas in impulse communication systems. It has been well blown that the transmitted impulse signal becomes deformed because of dispersive and resonant characteristics. Accordingly, in spite of using ideal template signal at the correlator in coherent receiver, these impairments degrade overall performance attributed to low level of coherence. To overcome this problem this paper exploits a realization technique of pre-compensation filter purposely installed at transmitter whose stability is automatically guaranteed because it has an inversion form of minimum-phase ARMA (Auto-Regressive Moving Average) system. The performance of proposed scheme will be shown in results from computer simulations to verify its affirmative impact on impulse communication system with regarding several distinctively shaped antennas.

Design of a Dual-Frequency Microstrip Patch Antenna (이중 공진형 마이크로스트립 패치 안테나 설계)

  • In this paper, a novel design method of an apertured coupled microstrip patch antenna with the single feeding structure is proposed for dual resonance frequencies with mutually perpendicular polarizations. The characteristics of this antenna are experimentally investigated. In order to achieve this goal, a new type of square patch with double notches is used as a radiator and the crossed slot and the bended mictrostrip feeder are adopted for the dual polarizations in the aperture-coupled structure. For the application of the proposed antenna, a Ku-band Tx/Rx $2\times$ subarray antenna is designed and manufactured. Also, the applicability of the antenna as a ground terminal is examined through performance analysis. According to the measurement, the gain of the antenna is 10dBi at the center frequencies of Tx and Rx, the side lobe level is lower than -13dB, and the cross polarization lebel is below 17 dB.

Design of Singly Fed Microstrip Antennas Having Circular Polarization (단일 급전 원형 편파 마이크로스트립 안테나 설계)

  • In this paper, a microstrip aperture-patch antenna and a microstrip ring antenna, which have single microstrip line feeding systems for the circular polarization, are designed, and experimental results are presented at X-band. The microstrip aperture-patch antenna is characterized by its wide operating frequency range, and the microstrip ring antenna is suitable for a basic radiator in the large array antenna due to its small size. Several design parameters for these antennas are considered and analyzed to improve antenna characteristics such as VSWR bandwidth and axial ratio. Initially, the sizes of the aperture and ring radiator are determined on a basis of the cavity model, then shapes of the patch within the aperture and the inner stub of the ring are optimized using Ensemble software. Measurement results show that the aperture-patch antenna has 25% of VSWR bandwidth and 1.2dB of axial ratio at the boresight, and the ring antenna has 6.7% of VSWR bandwidth and 1.6dB of axial ratio at the boresight.

  • The interaction of magnetic field in the frequency range of 9~150 kHz radiating from a railway system with wireless systems has been the cause of radio frequency interference. In this paper, the equivalent circuit model of the RFI noise is proposed through source and transfer path analysis, and it is confirmed that the switching noise of several kHz that occurs a vehicle traction drive system and a substation is radiated by forming the loop circuit with a feeder line by a rolling stock. And the validity of the proposed equivalent circuit model is verified by analyzing the effects of RC banks installed in the real railway between Guri and Guksu stations, the RFI noise can be effectively mitigated by loading suitable capacitance between rail and feeding line.

  • In this paper, we analyze the telecom services and their socio-economic effect of using open spectrum, which is to access sharing spectrum. For this, we suggest a concept and a classification of open spectrum as spectrum access model and make a survey for analyzing the socio-economic effect of spectrum, 2,605 MHz which is candidated for sharing between 2.9~5.925 Hz in Korea. From survey results, we propose Mobile Telecommunications Assist Service and WiFi as the most effective services and Smart Car Service and M2M, IoT, and RFID/USN Service as the effective services to open spectrum.
