Asynchronous Ranging Method using Estimated Frequency Differences in Wireless Sensor Networks (무선 센서망에서의 주파수 차이 추정 비동기 Ranging 방식)

  • The clock frequency difference of sensor nodes is one of main parameters in TOF estimation and affect to degrade ranging algorithms to estimate positions of mobile nodes in wireless sensor networks. The specification of IEEE802.15.4a describes asynchronous TWR and SDS-TWR insensitive to frequency difference without any additional network synchronization. But the TWR and SDS-TWR can not eliminate sufficiently the effect of frequency difference of node pair, packet processing delay and its difference. Especially use of low cost oscillator with wide range offset, sensor node with different hardware and software can make the positioning errors worse. We propose an estimation method of frequency differences, and apply the measured frequency differences to TWR and SDS-TWR. We evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm with simulation, and make certain that the proposed method enhances the performance of existing algorithms with positioning errors less than 25 cm.

Algorithm for Synchronization and Joint Operation of DVB-T Receiver Modems (유럽형 디지털 지상파 방송 수신기 모뎀의 동기화 및 시스템 연동 알고리듬)

  • 본 논문에서는 DVB-T (digital video broadcasting-terrestrial) 수신기의 동기화 알고리듬과 각 동기단 사이의 연동 알고리듬을 제안한다. OFDM( orthohonal frequency division multiplexing) 수신단에서는 프레임 동기, 반송파 동기, 심볼 타이밍 동기가 요구되어진다. 기존의 반송파 동기 방법은 부반송파 간격의 정수배 주파수 옵셋 보상 후 잔존해 있는 주파수 옵셋이 -0.5×(부반송파 간격) 혹은 +0.5×(부반송파 간격)에 가까운 값을 가질 때 많은 시간이 소요되는 문제점을 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 시스템의 복잡도를 그대로 유지 하면서 초기 동기화 시간을 줄일 수 있는 반송파 동기 알고리듬을 제안한다. 그리고 DVB-T모드를 추정하는 알고리듬을 제안하고 반송파 동기 추적루프와 심볼 타이밍 동기 추적루프를 동시에 동작시킴으로써 초기 동기화 시간을 추가적으로 줄일 수 있는 심볼 타이ALD 동기 알고리듬을 제안한다. 그리고 전체 수신기 모델의 연동 방안을 제시한다.

A Study on Technique for Synchronization Error Calibration of Standard frequency & Time Signal Dissemination System via KoreaSAT (무궁화 위성을 이용한 표준 시각/주파수 전송 시스템의 동기오차 보정 기술)

  • In this paper we analyze the main resources of error in GEO-satellite STFS(Standard Time & frequency Signal) dissemination system. For the case of small countries like Korea, we compare GEO-satellite STFS dissemination technique with the terrestrial network or with the GPS using LEO-satellites, and analyze its advantages over the forementioned systems. We also introduce the GEO-satellite STFS dissemination systems which are being developed or in service. Particularly, we put much efforts to develop the synchronization error calibration technique required to provide a highly accurate STFS service via KoreaSAT. We then propose the differential mode technique as the most effective and efficient calibration technique for mitigating errors in GEO-satellite STFS dissemination systems, and analyze its performance via computer simulation. We also analyze the relation between time accuracy and frequency accuracy. Our experimental results show that the time accuracy is better than 100 ns and the frequency accuracy is better than 10-13 over 7 days all around Korea peninsula. Finally, we propose methods to improve the performance of STFS dissemination system, and demonstrate that the proposed methods result in more accurate synchronization of GEO-satellite STFS.

  • Carrier frequency offset (CFO) is one of the most important problems in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system, which seriously degrades the performance of the systems due to its time-variant behavior. In this paper, the performance of a pilot-assisted fine CFO estimator in OFDM-based mobile WiMAX systems is analyzed. Analytical closed-form expression of the mean square error (MSE) of the post-FFT based CFO synchronization scheme is reported for time-variant fading channels. Taking into account the frame structure of the IEEE802.16e standard, simulation results are used to verify the theoretical analysis developed in this paper.

Ranging Enhancement using Frequency Offset Compensation in High Rate UWB (고속 UWB에서 주파수 편이 보상을 사용한 거리추정 성능향상)

  • UWB signal with high resolution capability can be used to estimate ranging and positioning in wireless personal area networks. The clock frequency differences of nodes have serious affects on asynchronous ranging methods to estimate locations of mobile nodes. The specification of high rate UWB describes successive TWR method with the estimation of a relative clock frequency offset. In this paper, we complete the ranging equations using relative frequency offset and time information, and propose a method to estimate the exact frequency offsets. We evaluate the ranging algorithms with simulation. The results show that the performances of the algorithms using frequency offsets are very close without noise. But, at noise environment, the method of exact frequency offsets shows better performance than that of relative frequency offsets.

  • 본 논문은 단상 line-start permanent- magnet (LSPM) 전동기가 가지는 비동기 운전영역에서 나타나는 다양한 토크성분을 해석적 방법으로 분석한다. 비 동기속도에서의 정상상태 전류를 DQ 등가회로를 이용하여 유도하였으며, 이를 이용하여 유도전류와 제동전류의 주파수를 확인하였다. 마지막으로 시간차분 해석을 이용하여 비동기 운전영역의 특정 속도에 대한 토크와 전류를 분석하였으며, 주파수 변환을 이용하여 각 전류의 주파수 성분을 확인하였다.

  • 지상파 디지털 TV 방식 중의 하나인 ATSC 8-VSB방식은 전송된 데이터 중 유효 데이터의 비율이 높고 채널이 좋은 경우 동기 및 등화 과정이 간단한 장점이 있지만, 실내수신이나 이동수신 환경에서는 동기 및 등차 과정이 어려운 단점이 있다. 현재 주파수 동기에는 FPLL 알고리즘을 이용하고 있는데, 파일롯의 위치에서의 좌우 스펙트럼의 비대칭 및 채널 환경에 따른 파일롯 신호의 감쇄가 발생하여 양의 주파수 옵셋이 발생했을 때에 비해 음의 주파수 옵셋이 발생했을 때의 동기획득이 어려운 단점이 있다. 본 논문은 파일롯 추출필터와 인접된 필터를 통과한 신호의 파워비율을 이용하여 얻은 제어신호를 이용하여, 기존 FPLL의 동작 범위를 넓힘과 동시에 수렴속도를 빠르게 할 수 있는 방법을 제안하였다.

  • In uplink cable modem link operated in time-division multiple access mode, it is crucial to employ a suitable preamble pattern enabling frame detection, coarse timing/carrier recovery. Preamble pattern based on the constant envelope zero autocorrelation sequence is proposed for the uplink cable modem compliant to the data over cable service interface specification. Frame detection, coarse/fine timing and carrier recovery algorithms suitable for the proposed preamble pattern are also proposed. We check up the performances using numerical results.

  • In this paper, we propose a coarse and fine frequency synchronization method which is suitable for the 3GPP(3rd Generation Partnership Project) LTE(Long Term Evolution) FDD(Frequency Division Duplexing) / TDD(Time Division Duplexing) dual mode system. In general, PSS(Primary Synchronization Signal) correlation based estimation method and CP(Cyclic Prefix) correlation based tracking loop are applied for coarse and fine frequency synchronization in 3GPP LTE OFDMA(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) system, respectively. However, the conventional coarse frequency synchronization method has performance degradation caused by fading channel and squaring loss. Also, the conventional fine frequency synchronization method cannot guarantee stable operation in TDD mode because of signal power difference between uplink and downlink subframe. Therefore, in this paper, we propose enhanced coarse and fine frequency synchronization methods which can estimate more accurately in multi-path fading channel and high speed channel environments and has stable operation for TDD frame structure, respectively. By computer simulation, we show that the proposed methods outperform the conventional methods, and verify that the proposed frequency synchronization method can guarantee stable operation in 3GPP LTE FDD/TDD dual mode downlink receiver.

A Distributed Frequency Synchronization Technique for OFDMA-Based Mesh Networks Using Bio-Inspired Algorithm (Bio-inspired 알고리즘을 이용한 OFDMA 기반 메쉬 네트워크의 분산 주파수 동기화 기법)

  • In OFDMA-based wireless mesh networks, synchronization of carrier frequencies among adjacent nodes is known to be difficult. In this paper, a distributed synchronization technique is proposed to solve the synchronization problem in OFDMA-based wireless mesh networks by using the bio-inspired algorithm. In the proposed approach, carrier frequencies of all nodes in a mesh network are converged into one frequency by locally synchronizing the frequencies of adjacent nodes. It may take a long time to be converged in some topologies since the convergence characteristic of carrier frequencies in a mesh network may vary depending on the size of the network and deployment of nodes. It is shown that fast frequency synchronization, not heavily depending on the topology, can be achieved through the proposed algorithm with an adjustable weight.
