Methods : The systematic review methods were used. Papers published in the journal between January, 2000 and July, 2014 were searched through MEDLINE/PubMed, Sciencedirect, Ovid. The main terms searched were 'ADHD, Children, intervention, outcome measure', and 8 papers were analyzed. Results : 1. The subjects of ADHD were pure ADHD (75.8%), ADHD with dyslexia (9.1%), ADHD with conduct disorder (5.8%), ADHD with tic disorder (3.8%), ADHD with DCD (3.0%), ADHD with emotional disorder (2.5%). 2. The nonpharmacologic intervention of ADHD were functioning and disability (80%) and contextual factors (20%). Most frequently used intervention were body function and structure (60%). 3. The outcome measurement tools of ADHD were functioning and disability (80.5%) and contextual factors (19.5%). Most frequently used outcome measurement tools were body function and structure (70.8%). Conclusion : This study can provide information on the intervention and outcome measurement tools of ADHD.

Subjects were 22 children who were classified as ADHD. Eleven children among the 22 were placed randomly in the experimental group; the remaining 11 children were placed in the control group. The effectiveness of the program was analyzed by ANCOVA after controlling for effects of pre-tests on criterion variables. Results of the present study showed that the cognitive intervention program was significantly effective for improving attention span and decreasing impulsivity of children with ADHD.

  • ADHD is a neuro-developmental disorder that begins in childhood, yet may continue into adulthood. Although 3 to 4 percent of adults are affected by ADHD, but only a small proportion of adults ever receive a formal diagnosis and treatment. The core symptoms of ADHD frequently lead to significant academic difficulties that often result in the students' teacher being the first to suspect the disorder. In order for school teachers to effectively deal with ADHD students in school classrooms, they need to have positive attitude toward ADHD students. This study presents a list of ADHD-related web sites which provide educational contents and support for school teachers, and provides the discussions about the current status and the roles of those web sites.

  • Objective : The goal of this study was to investigate neurological mechanism of emotional regulation and to examine the relationship between the regulation and sensory processing. Subjective : Emotional regulations are mainly processed in limbic system, particularly the basal-lateral group of amygdala takes on a major role in the regulations. The basal-lateral group of amygdala links to thalamus directly and/or indirectly which processes sensory information together. This sensory information connects to orbital and medial prefrontal cortex. Inadequate sensory processing may cause difficulties in emotional regulations and behaviors because of a circuit linking the amygdala, the thalamus, and the orbital and medial prefrontal cortex. These difficulties and impairments has been reported in neurological studies for children with ASD and ADHD. Conclusion : Neurological states are different between the normal children and children with ASD and ADHD and these represent various aspects in sensory processing, emotional regulations and behaviors. Thus, therapists working with children with ASD and ADHD need to understand mechanisms of sensory processing and emotional regulations in order to provide adequate treatments.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of violin learning as to enhance the attention span and impulsiveness of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD). Three children with ADHD, grade 2, 3, 4 were selected to participate in the research. A total of 15 session were given during 8 week time span, including a final performance session. For measurement, Korean-Child Behavior Checklist(K-CBCL), Home Situation Questionnaire-Revised (HSQ-R), Conners Teacher Rating Scale-Revised (CTRS-R) were administered before and after the implementation. Other behavioral checklist were used to record inappropriate or interruptive behaviors. The results showed that violin learning has increased attention span and reduced impulsive behaviors of all three children with ADHD. Along with these changes, the identified inappropriate behaviors reduced as sessions progressed. Also the changes observed within the music environment were generalized to non-music environment, such as family and school. These results also indicate that violin can be a therapeutic medium used in music therapy setting to bring positive changes for children with ADHD problems.
