Study on reduction of power consumption in GPS embedded terminals with periodic position fix (GPS 단말기에서의 주기적 위치 측위에 따른 전력소모 최소화 방안 연구)

  • This thesis is about the reduction of the power consumption in GPS embedded terminals with periodic position fix to improve the time delay of position determination. In order to improve time delay of position determination during the wireless terminal is powered on, it needs to be set such that it can be periodically recalibrated by the GPS and those recalibrated values need to be saved in the terminal's memory so that it can reduce the time delay from the request of location. By using the trace of the information that's been saved in the terminal's memory, it can be set so that it'll be easier to determine whether the wireless terminal has gone into buildings and have the capability of checking if it has gone into a specific building. Likewise, while the terminal is turned on, in order calibrate the location, it needs to continuously work the GPS engine which leads to a rapid decrease in terminal's idle time. This thesis proposes some solutions regarding these issues - reducing 20 ~ 30% of the battery consumption for GPS visible situation that can occur when the wireless terminal periodically calibrates its location to determine the in-building status, and extending the idle time of the terminal by flexibly using the suggested GPS calibration time method according to wireless terminal's mobility.

Effect of Circulation Cycle of Nutrient Solution on the Dissolved Oxygen Concentration, and the Growth and Phytonutrient Contents of Leafy Vegetables Grown in DFT Systems (양액의 순환주기가 담액수경 엽채류의 용존산소 농도, 생육 및 식물영양소의 함량에 미치는 영향)

  • To determine the effects of circulation frequency of nutrient solution, three frequencies of 10min. on/10min. off; 10min. on/110min. off; and 10min. on/1,430min. off. treatments were applied to leafy vegetable production using deep flow technique (DFT) systems and their growth and phytonutrient content were investigated. In the 10min. on/I,430min. off treatment, dissolved oxygen concentration (DOC) 17 days after treatment decreased to 2.8mg. $L^{-1}$, known to be a low DOC that causes hypoxia, and thereafter decreased to 1.5mg. $L^{-1}$ 20 days after treatment. Fresh weight of 7 leafy vegetables in the 10min. on/1,430min. off treatment was lower by 0${\sim}$24% than those in the 10min. on/110min. off treatment, and those in the 10min. on/10min. off was higher by -2${\sim}$34% than those in the 10min. on/110min. off treatment as control. As the more frequent circulation was applied, the higher phosphorous content and the lower carbon to nitrogen ratio (C/N ratio) and total ascorbic acid contents were resulted. Results indicate that the circulation frequency of 110min, on/110min. off could be recommended for the production of the tested leafy vegetables in DFT systems.

G1 Arrest of the Cell Cycle by Gomisin N, a Dibenzocyclooctadiene Lignan, Isolated from Schizandra chinensis Baill in Human Leukemia U937 Cells (오미자에서 분리된 dibenzocyclooctadiene lignan의 일종인 gomisin N에 의한 인체혈구암세포의 세포주기 G1 arrest 유발)

  • We investigated the anti-cancer effects of two dibenzocyclooctadiene lignans, gomisin A and gomisin N, isolated from Schizandra chinensis Baill, in human promyelocytic U937 cells. Gomisin N, but not gomisin A, inhibited cell growth in a concentration-dependent manner, which was associated with the induction of G1 arrest of the cell cycle. G1 arrest induced by gomisin N was correlated with down-regulation of cyclin E, cyclin-dependent kinase (Cdk) 2 and Cdk4, and a concomitant up-regulation of Cdk inhibitors such as p16 (INK4A) and p21 (WAF1/CIP1). Furthermore, gomisin N inhibited phosphorylation of retinoblastoma protein (pRB) and p130, and expression of transcription factor E2Fs. The results indicated that growth inhibition by gomisin N is related to cell cycle arrest at G1 in U937 cells and these findings suggest that gomisin N may be a useful chemotherapeutic agent.

Persuasion Effects of Political Ad Message Types: The Moderating Role of Persuasion Knowledge (정치광고의 메시지 유형이 설득효과에 미치는 영향 - 설득지식의 조절효과 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine sidedness effects of political Ad message and moderating roles of consumers' persuasion knowledge. To test these research hypotheses, this study conducted experimental designs. 125 undergraduate students were assigned to one of the two experimental groups. The data demonstrate that message types have a significant effect on both reliability toward Ad message and acceptance intention. In addition, consumers' persuasion knowledge plays a significant moderating role between the message types and the dependent variables. The results of this study suggest various implications by indicating political Ad message as an important factor which can enhance customers' positive responses but has been passed over by the previous research. We also indicated the limitations of this study, and suggested the future research directions.

  • Filamentous Aspergillus spp. are the most common fungi in our environment and can be beneficial and/or pathogenic to humans. Many Aspergillus spp. reproduce by forming asexual spores and can synthesize various secondary metabolites. A series of studies has revealed that Velvet regulators are fungus-specific transcription factors coordinating fungal growth, development, and secondary metabolism in the model fungus Aspergillus nidulans. Proteins of the Velvet family form various complexes that play diverse roles in the life cycle of A. nidulans. In other Aspergillus spp., proteins of this family are highly conserved and coordinate asexual development and secondary metabolism. This review summarizes the functions of Velvet proteins in Aspergillus spp.

Modeling on Ratio-Dependent Three-Trophic Population Dynamics Responding to Environmental Impacts (외부 환경영향에 대한 밀도비 의존 3영양단계의 개체군 동태 모델)

  • The transient dynamics of three-trophic populations (prey, predator, and super predator) using ratio-dependent models responding to environmental impacts is analyzed. Environmental factors were divided into two parts: periodic factor (e.g., temperature) and general noise. Periodic factor was addressed as a frequency and bias, while general noise was expressed as a Gaussian distribution. Temperature bias ${\varepsilon}$, temperature frequency ${\Omega}$, and Gaussian noise amplitude ${\`{O}}$ accordingly revealed diverse status of population dynamics in three-trophic food chain, including extinction of species. The model showed stable limit cycles and strange attractors in the long-time behavior depending upon various values of the parameters. The dynamic behavior of the system appeared to be sensitive to changes in environmental input. The parameters of environmental input play an important role in determining extinction time of super predator and predator populations.

A Study to Develop an Active Control System of Ship Vibration Using a Mechanical Actuator (기계식 구동기를 이용한 선박진동의 능동제어장치 개발)

  • A mechanical actuator to generate adjustable force ants its active control algorithm to minimize ship structural vibration are developed. The algorithms comprise initial algorithm which determines optimal phase and force magnitude of the actuator using the variation of vibration response according to the phase difference between the main engine and the actuator, and regulating algorithm which performs continuous optimal control to track the change of the engine speed. This control system can be applied without any prior identification for the dynamic characteristics of the controlled structure. In the control experiments for the deckhouse structural vibration of a 300,000 DWT crude oil carrier and a 2,270 TEU container carrier, the developed system showed good performance to reduce the vibration levels to $1/2{\sim}1/6$ of the uncontrolled levels.

Group Based Two-Layer Mobility Management of MTC Devices in 5G Network (5G 네트워크에서 MTC 단말들의 그룹기반 2계층 이동성 관리 기술)

  • In 5G mobile communication, it is necessary to provide different mobility to user equipments(UE) that do not require mobility management or need limited mobility management. In this paper, we propose a two-layer mobility management system that classifies multiple MTC devices with similar mobility levels into c-MTC and m-MTC groups. In order to improve the energy efficiency and service life by reducing the number of control signals generated when TAU is performed, the group header typically performs a Tracking Area Update(TAU) request and adjusts the periodic TAU update period according to the mobility level. The TAU update period of the m-MTC is set to 54 minutes proposed by the 3GPP standard and the c-MTC is set to 12 minutes. Compared to when the UEs perform TAU individually, it is found that the number of control signals decreases by 33% when the MME is not changed and by 49% when the MME is not changed in the m-MTC or c-MTC group.

  • 댐의 조절방류가 하류 하천생태에 미는 영향은 매우 복잡하다. 하류생물상에 미치는 영향은 댐에서의 거리, 유황의 변화크기에 따라 달라진다. 흐르는 물에 서식하는 물고기는 좋아하는 수심, 유속 및 하상재질 등을 이용하여 살아간다. 다만 생물상은 주변환경에 적응하거나 변화하는 능력이 있어 댐의 조절방류에 의한 수생태계 변화구조를 명확히 해석하기는 불가능하다(Power et al., 1988). 댐에 의한 일정방류는 생물다양성을 감소시키며, 보다 변동성이 큰 방류하천은 하천, 연안 및 생물상 변화 유도에 긍정적인 것은 사실이다. 또한 큰 규모의 홍수파는 하천지형의 동적활동을 촉진시키며, 이는 하천을 터전으로 서식하는 동물상을 위한 생태학적 여건을 개선시켜 주게 된다. 이는 주변 식생의 생태적 조건 변화에 도움을 주기 때문에 적어도 1년에 2번 정도의 홍수파방류는 하천주변 서식처의 다양성 변화에 필요한 것으로 보고되고 있다(Kondolf and Wilcock, 1996). 최근들어 댐 하류하천의 생태복원을 위해 연속적인 홍수파 방류의 중요성이 강조되고 있는데(Stanford et al, 1996) 자연하도에서 댐과 같은 구조물에 의한 유량조절은 하중도나 사주 등을 발달시키고 사주에서는 두꺼운 식생층이 형성될 뿐만아니라 수목군의 현저한 출현을 보여준다. 이렇게 사주나 식생이 고착됨에 따라 이의 저항을 피해가는 수로가 형성되고 저수로 구간외에서는 식생의 발달이 더욱 왕성해져 그 면적이 확대되고 있다. 결국 사주와 사주가 식생으로 연결되고 여기에 수목이 자라면서 웬만한 홍수에도 파괴되지 않는 거대한 식생대가 출현하게 되는데 우리나라에서도 많은 하천에서 볼 수 있는 현상이다. 또한 댐에 의한 퇴사의 차단은 하천지형의 불균형을 초래하고 식생의 발달과 함께 저수도부는 좁아지고 세굴에 의해 깊어지는 현상을 보인다. 이와같은 현상들은 수문특성의 변화에 의하여 결국 댐의 조절방류에 의한 수문 변화는 하천지형의 변화를 유발하고 하천지형의 변화는 하천환경에 변화를 미치게 된다. 본 연구에서는 실제적으로 댐이 건설된 지역에서 조사된 몇몇의 자료를 분석하여 댐건설후에 나타나는 부정적 영향을 최소화하기 위한 바람직한 댐운영방안을 제시하고자 한다.
