  • Nerve compression is caused by external force or internal pathology, which symptom develops along nerve distribution. There are median, ulnar and radial nerve compression neuropathies below elbow. Carpal tunnel syndrome at the flexor retinaculum is most common among all the entrapment neuropathies. Other causes of median nerve neuropathy include Struther's ligament, biceps aponeurosis, pronator teres, FDS aponeurosis and aberrant muscles, which induce pronator syndrome or anterior interosseous nerve syndrome. Ulnar nerve can be compressed at the elbow by arcade of Struther, medial epicondylar groove, FCU two heads, which develops cubital tunnel syndrome, at the wrist by ganglion, fracture of hamate hook and vascular problem, which develops Guyon's canal syndrome. Radial tunnel syndrome is caused by supinator muscle, which compresses its deep branch. Treatment is conservative at initial stage like NSAID, night splint or steroid injection. If symptom persists, operative treatment should be considered after electrodiagnostic or imaging studies.

  • This study examined the relationships between health behavior, premenstrual coping, premenstrual syndrome symptoms, and subjective happiness of female college students. The data were collected through self-report questionnaires between March 7 and April 20, 2016. Participants were comprised of a convenience sample of 122 female college students. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed subjective health status (${\beta}=.23$, p<.011), premenstrual syndrome symptoms (${\beta}=-.22$, p<.012), and average length of menstrual period (${\beta}=-.17$, p<.044) to be significant predictors of subjective happiness in female college students. These variables accounted for 14.0% of subjective happiness scores. It is meaningful that premenstrual syndrome symptoms and average length of menstrual period affected the subjective happiness in female college students. Therefore, to facilitate subjective happiness in female college students, efficient management and intervention regarding premenstrual syndrome symptoms and general health are required.

  • Purposes: This study aimed to investigate the differences in the prevalence of obesity according to sex and age and self-rated health in adults with metabolic syndrome according to sex, age, and the presence or absence of metabolic syndrome. Methods: The study subjects were 5,674 adults, who completed all three components of the KNHANES VI-2. The subjects were categorized, using life transition periods, into young adults, middle-aged adults, and older adults. Research methods were selected based on the research objectives of the KNHANES VI-2. IBM SPSS 23.0 was used for complex samples cross-tabulation and a complex samples general linear model analysis. Results: Obesity was prevalent in 77.2% of young male adults, 66.2% of middle-aged male, and 52.3% of older male adults with metabolic syndrome, whereas it was prevalent in 72.4% of young female adults, 73.9% of middle-aged female adults, and 64.6% of older female adults with metabolic syndrome. Men had higher self-rated health than women. As age increased, self-rated health status decreased. Those with metabolic syndrome had lower self-rated health status than those without metabolic syndrome. Conclusion: The prevalence of obesity was found to be high in those with metabolic syndrome. This study found that based on sex, men had the highest self-rated health status, and based on age, young adults had the highest self-rated health status, whereas those with metabolic syndrome had low self-rated health status.

  • Purpose: Snapping triceps syndrome is dynamic condition in which medial head of triceps snaps (dislocates) over the medial epicondyle as the elbow is flexed. Materials and Methods: The symptoms are pain or snapping at the medial aspect of the elbow and/or symptoms from coexisting ulnar nerve irritation. The diagnosis can be made by dynamic ultrasonography. Results and Conclusion: And successful outcome can be archived by operative treatment, which are ulnar nerve anterior transposition and tenotomy of medial head of triceps.
