This study was carried out to analysis the landform characteristics of land creep areas in south Korea. Aspect ratio in 17 areas (approximately 46.0 %) among total land creep areas (37 areas) was ranged from 0.37 to 0.92. Also, aspect ratio in 36 areas (approximately 97.0 %) was less than 2. Longitudinal section form ratio of 15 areas (approximately 41.0 %) was less than 1.0, whereas 22 areas (approximately 59.0 %) were more than 1.0. Horseshoe hoof form in land creep areas were mostly appeared to flat land types, whereas convex terrain ground form was prevailed to micro-topography. Mean contour intervals were higher in micro-topography (mean 29.4 m, range 9.5 m ~ 83.2 m) than in except micro-topography (mean 24.3 m, range: 14.4 m ~ 59.4 m) in land creep areas. The contour intervals were slightly wider in micro-topography (mean 5.1 m, range: 4.9 m ~ 23.8 m) than in except micro-topography in land creep areas. The results indicate that contour intervals were significantly different (P < 0.05) between micro-topography and except micro-topography in land creep areas.
This study performed a longitudinal research on the causal relationship between multidimensionality of problem drinking and poverty, and multidimensional deprivation meaning the inequality, focusing on gender difference. For this, this study examined the latent group of problem drinking change trajectory through the latent class growth analysis targeting total 3,770 men and 5,632 women by using the 6th-year Korea Welfare Panel Study data from 2013 to 2018, and then conducted the multinominal logistic regression analysis to verify the influence of multidimensional deprivation factors on this latent group. The main results of this study are as follows. First, the latent group of problem drinking change trajectory according to gender was classified into three latent groups in both men and women while the development aspect was different from each other. The male latent group with 'moderate level' or higher showed higher level of problem drinking than women. However, in case of 'drinking group with high level' according to gender, as time passed, the men tended to maintain it while the women tended to increase it. Second, in the results of examining the effects of multidimensional deprivation on the latent group of problem drinking change trajectory, the men with more experiences of social deprivation and the women with more experiences of social security deprivation showed the higher possibility to belong to the 'drinking group with high level' compared to the 'drinking group with low level'. Based on such results above, this study discussed the preventive/intervention measures for problem drinking according to gender.
The purpose of this study is to examine the social gerontology studies in the Journal of the Korean Gerontological Society during 1980-2008 in terms of research topics, research methods, and theoretical trends. A total of 161 studies were analyzed; 27 studies in 1980's, 52 studies in 1990's, and 82 studies in 2000's. The major findings were as follows. First, the research topics were classified into five categories; 1) social change and social system (34 studies), 2) actual socio-condition (62 studies), 3) social problem and deviation (34 studies), 4) social culture (25 studies), and 5) gerontology study and gerontological theory (6 studies), and the major research trends and research results were examined. Second, in research methods, most of studies in 1980's were literature reviews and studies tended to be gradually expanded to quantitative research, but there were only eight quantitative researches. In statistical methods applied to the quantitative researches, thirty-six percent of the researches used basic statistical techniques, sixty-four percent advanced statistical techniques, and the basic ones were gradually replaced by the advanced ones. Third, most of the studies examined the social facts through relevant documents and statistics, or introduced the theories. So, only 12 studies (7.5%) were based on theories. Finally, the studies on various sociological research topics, qualitative studies, longitudinal studies, studies based on theories, and international cooperative studies, inter-disciplinary or multi-disciplinary studies were suggested for the future.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the trends and to achieve in-depth understanding about the research on families in later life. The journal articles related to the elderly and family studies published between 1980 and 2008 were analyzed for theories, research subjects and methodology. A total of 181 research articles were published focused on the elderly and families during this period of time. The results are as follows; there has been a steady increase in the number of research articles analyzing the elderly and families since 1980. However, there was little effort to integrate empirical findings with theories. With regards to the methodology, the majority of the studies used quantitative methods, although the number of the qualitative studies increased after 1990. The size of samples in most of the quantitative studies was large enough to test inferential statistic techniques. The research subjects such as family relations(parent-adult child, grandparent-grandchildren), family conflict, support system were studied in depth; however, the practical use of these research findings in welfare policies and service programs was not so effective. In future, researchers should be expected to play important roles in the practical fields and the policy implementation process utilizing their research findings.
The purpose of this study was to measure repeated the process of non-suicidal self-injury individuals change in everyday life through the Ecological Momentary Assessment(EMA) daily diary. The study subjects of were 17 adults aged 19 to 29, accessed a link sent by text message on a cell phone and recorded a diary of the day's affects, interpersonal conflicts, self-injury thoughts, and behaviors once a day for two weeks. Using a total of 238 reported entries, the contextual factors of NSSI were examined, and the effects of affects and interpersonal conflicts on NSSI analyzed through a multi-level model. As a result, the negative affects of that day have a significant relation with within subject NSSI behavior and positive affects have a significant relation between subject NSSI behavior. These findings means that overall individuals with low positive affects have a higher risk of self-injury behavior compared to those with higher levles of positive emotions, and an increase in negative emotions on that day within an individual increases the risk of self-injury behavior on that day. In other words, it implies that it is important to manage negative emotions and strengthen overall positive affects for that day in the intervention of emotion-regulation of experienced self-injury individuals. It is meaningful that this study explored NSSI risk factors experienced in daily life through the short-term longitudinal study.
This study was conducted with the aim of developing a mobile app so that parents and children can provide questions and conversation-based Home Humanity Education. App development was developed in four stages: analysis, design, development, and evaluation by modifying the ADDIE model. In the analysis stage, education goals were set and seven core competencies were extracted for the app. In the design stage, 15 menus, including character to implement seven core competencies, were selected for learning contents. In the development stage, questions were asked based on 1,000 photos, and parents and children naturally talked to strengthen their core competencies. In the evaluation stage, the user's evaluation interview was followed by a reflux process that produced and reflected improvements. Based on research results, it is going to suggest follow-up research on developing apps for home humanity education. First, it is necessary to verify the learning experiences and changes that occur when parents and children use apps for a long time through longitudinal research. Second, a follow-up study is needed on how to use the home humanity education app by age and how to improve it accordingly. Third, as the number of cases in which grandparents raise their grandchildren increases, it is necessary to study the process and learning effects of grandparents and grandchildren using the app.
The study was conducted to develop an implementation model for digital transformation (DX) of manufacturing companies. To this end, previous studies on the process of management innovation and digital transformation were reviewed. The DX process model was derived based on the NEBIC theory and innovation theory applied in the innovation process of the Internet business. In addition, a research model including the factors of the will of the top management class (TMT) was constructed and confirmed through empirical data. The research hypothesis were verified based on data collected from members of mid-sized manufacturing companies promoting digital transformation. Through regression analysis, the influence relationship of each stage of the research model (technical knowledge, TK → opportunity perception, OR → performace expectation, PE and → Intention to execute, IE) was confirmed. Hierarchical regression analysis was conducted to understand the mediating effect of the members' perception of the top management's willingness to promote DX in the process. As a result of checking the Sobel test, it was confirmed that the management's perception of DX promotion partially mediated the relationship at each stage. This study is meaningful in that it presented a model applicable to the digital transformation of the mid-sized manufacturing industry. It is also valuable in providing an empirical basis for innovative research and NEBIC expansion. Longitudinal studies are required to overcome the limitations of empirical data for process models with dynamic characteristics whereas extended empirical studies are required in various fields other than manufacturing to generalize research results.
This study aims to examine the effects of learner-centered mathematical instruction perceived by middle school students such as discussion learning, self-directed learning, and cooperative learning on their math self-efficacy and engagement in mathematics class. Moreover, it attempts to verify if there are differences in the mean of latent variables and effect among groups divided based on achievement level. Research results are as follows. First, discussion learning did not have a direct effect on students' engagement in mathematics class, but still created an indirect effect on it through math self-efficacy. Self-directed learning and cooperative learning created a direct effect on engagement in mathematics class as well as an indirect effect through self-efficacy on mathematics. Second, high-achievement group had a higher perception of discussion learning, self-directed learning, and cooperative learning than a low-achievement group, and showed a higher level of math self-efficacy and engagement in mathematics class. Third, there were significant differences among groups, in the effect of discussion learning on self-efficacy in mathematics, effect of self-directed learning on self-efficacy in mathematics, and effect of math self-efficacy on engagement in mathematics class. Thus, this study offers meaningful implications for the role of math teachers as assistants in learning for learner-centered math classes.
This study examined the relationship between physical education and externalizing(aggression) and internalizing(depression, social withdrawal) problem behaviors among adolescents. The moderating role of gender and time in the association between physical education and problem behavior was also identified. This study used data from the second, third, and fourth waves of the middle school student cohort (N=2,133, N=2,151, N=1,979) of the Korean Children-Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS). Main analyses involved multilevel growth model with interaction terms. The dependent variables were aggression, depression, and social withdrawal. The independent variables were gender and physical education (exercise hours) at school. The control variables were abuse, school-adjustment, annual household income and parents' highest level of education. The major longitudinal findings of this study are as follows: First, there was significant change according to the passage of time only in aggression among externalizing and internalizing problems. Second, gender differences exist in aggression and depression. Third, exercise hours of physical education had a negative relationship with internalizing problems. Fourth, there were no gender differences over time in both externalizing and internalizing problems. Fifth, the interaction between exercise hours of physical education and time was statistically significant for social withdrawal. Sixth, the interaction between exercise hours of physical education and gender was statistically significant for depression. The results of this study may become an academic basis for suggesting policy directions that promote increased exercise hours in physical education classes at school.
It is well known that health and psychosocial factors are closely associated with depressive symptoms. Due to limitations in available data and analysis methods, however, little is known about the effects of health and psychosocial factors on depression trajectory. In order to address the limitations, this study examines the predictors of depression trajectory using latent growth curve modeling involving individuals aged 60 and over who participated in the Korean Welfare Panel Study (N=4,919). Controlling for socioeconomic variables, health and psychosocial variables were cross-sectionally associated with depressive symptoms, which is consistent with previous findings. However, the effects of health and psychosocial variables on the rate of depressive symptom change varied. Health variables were significantly associated with the levels of depressive symptoms at wave 1, but these were not significantly associated with the rate of depressive symptoms change. By contrast, although psychosocial variables were significantly associated with depressive symptoms at wave 1, the effects of psychosocial variables on the rate of depressive symptom change varied. Specifically, while self-esteem and family relationship were positively associated with the rate of depressive symptom change, social relationship was negatively associated with the rate of depressive symptom change. Based on the findings, this study discussed implications for intervention and future research.
