A Study on Fashion Design Using Geometric Pattern (기하학적 패턴을 활용한 패션디자인 연구)

  • 자연을 분석함으로써, 얻어진 기하학적 패턴은 이미 자연의 질서를 포함하고 있는 논리적이고 합리적인 기본형이기 때문에 간결하며 시각적으로 명쾌감을 준다. 이러한 기하학적 패턴은 복식 디자인에 있어서 20 세기 이후 여러 디자이너의 작품을 통해 재구성되어 현대적 이미지를 나타내는 중요한 모티브가 되고 있으며, 다양한 기법과 재료로 형성화하여 도입되고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 복식의 문양, 실루엣, 디테일에 사용되고 있는 기하학적 패턴을 연구함으로써 기하학적 패턴의 새로운 조형가치를 고찰하였다. 먼저 기하학의 용어 정의를 하였고 기하학적 패턴의 유형과 표현 기법을 분석하고 정리하여 현대 패션에 나타난 기하학적 패턴의 조형미와 그것을 바탕으로 패션 이미지를 추론해 보았다. 현대 패션에 나타난 기하학 패턴을 분석해 보면 유형으로는 첫째, 기하하적 문양으로 복식디자인에 있어서 주로 평면적인 형태로 많이 나타나지만, 크기가 다르고 동일한 기하학적 패턴을 조합시킴으로서 평면적인 형태에 공간감을 부여하기도 하며, 같은 기하학적 패턴의 표면이라도 배치구조에 의해 직선 혹은 사선으로 지각되므로 전혀 다른 이미지를 주었다. 또한 현대 패션에 나타난 기하학적 패턴이 종류는 세로 스트라이프, 가로 스트라이프, 격자 문양, 원, 사선 스트라이프, 마름모, 사각형, 삼각형 등의 순서로 많이 나타났다. 둘째, 색채는 단색의 복식에 강한 대비가 이루어지는 색상으로 표현되어 역동감과 유연한 운동감을 나타났다. 셋째, 기하학적 실루엣으로 단순한 라인의 형태를 나타내거나 입체적이고 부조적인 형태로 구성되어 전체적인 실루엣으로 사용되어 강한 조형감각을 보여주는데 원형을 이용한 실루엣이 가장 많았으며 사각형을 이용한 실루엣, 삼각형을 이용한 실루엣 순서로 나타났다. 넷째, 기하학적인 디테일로 복식의 어느 한 부분에 장식적으로 사용되거나 입체적 형태로 부출 되어 부조적인 느낌을 주는데 소매에 가장 많이 나타났으며 앞여밈, 칼라, 밑단, 주머니 순서로 장식되었다. 다섯째, 현대 패션에 표현된 기하학적 패턴의 표현기법으로는 프린팅, 퀼팅, piece기법, 패치워크, 엮기, 꼴라쥬, 아플리케 순서로 많이 나타났다. 위의 분석을 토대로 기하학 패턴을 활용한 디자인에 내재된 조형의지는 다음과 같이 정리되었다. 첫째, 기하학적 패턴이 지닌 단순성과 경직성을 완화하기 위하여 여러 가지 패브릭을 조합시켜 입체적인 표면효과로 시각적인 착시효과를 극대화하였다. 둘째, 표현기법은 입체파적 표현주의의 특성의 하나로 복시에 사용되는 소재의 왜곡으로 설명할 수 있으며, 새롭고 실험적인 소재의 도입으로 인해 의외성과 부조화를 유발시키는 통시에 유희직인 일면도 지니는 일종의 그로테스크를 나타냈다. 이상에서 정립된 조형의지를 바탕으로 현대 패션에 나타란 기하학 패턴은 절제된 단순함과 명확성으로 단순미가 유추되었고 강한 색상대비로 인한 시각적 집중효과로 주목성을 가지며 재현이 가능하므로 반복성이 유추되었다. 그리고 표준영역이 없는 창의적 표현으로 풍부한 독창성을 보여주고 있다. 또한 내재된 패션 이미지를 분석해 보면 정확함과 차가움의 의미를 지닌 이지적 이미지와 우주의 질서를 반영하는 상징적 이미지, 복잡한 자연으로부터 간결한 형태로의 경향성이 이루어낸 인공적 이미지를 느낄 수 있었으며, 미래적 이미지와 전통적 이미지의 상반된 개념의 이미지를 같이 내포하고 있음을 추론할 수 있었다. 이와 같이 현대 패션에 표현된 기하학적 패턴은 복식을 조형예술 분야로 확실히 인식시키고 발전시키는 데 중요한 촉매제 역할을 담당하고 있으며 또한 많은 디자이너들에게 창조적 욕구를 불러일으키고 영감을 주는데 중요한 모티브를 제공하고 있다.

A study on evaluation framework of environmental formative works in urban space (도시 환경조형물 심의현황에 관한 고찰 - 대도시 건축물 미술장식제도를 중심으로 -)

  • This research aims to investigate evaluation framework of environmental formative works that are regulated by law in urban space, and to suggest the directions of improving the framework for better city environments. The concept of environmental formative works in urban space was identified and social situations and factors including visitors and the cognitive process of urban environments, were analyzed. This research suggests a new method based on the analysis of existing regulations and problems of environmental art or formative works. The public regulations and evaluation methods of the Korean major cities including Seoul, Daejeon, Busan and Gwangju, were examined on environmental formative works. The objective was to suggest an evaluation framework for creating human values of urban culture environment instead of focusing on the matters between the owner of the architecture and the artist of formative works. By identifying socio-cultural value of art decoration related regulations and improving the level of the public formative art evaluation scheme, this study helps addressing the administrative problems and constructing a conceptual framework of evaluation to improve urban culture environment for both human and environment.

  • Customers who visit nail shops need creative and unique designs, but at present nail artists remain at the level of design imitation, new nail art designs should be developed to satisfy customers. Therefore, this study presented convergent nail art designs using formative art principles which are the basis of all design with the aim of contributing to creative nail art designs. For this purpose, this study investigated specialized books, Internet data and previous studies on the subject, analysed concepts and cases of formative art principles, and the concept of nail art and related expressive techniques to create six convergent nail art designs. As nail art techniques, this study used hand painting, marbling, see-through, etching, embossing, patching and objet. As a result, this study presented unique and creative nail art designs using formative art principles and found the possibility of creating new nail art designs. This study has meaning in that the results of this study are significant as basic data to enhance the design capabilities of nail artists.

  • Everybody recognizes importance of characters in theater animation that directly influence audiences through narrative structure. However, it is very difficult to make one. This study is about this process that creates characters. This study derived what common points were involved in analysis data of major/supporting characters' formative characteristics in various studies related to animation characters. Then, based on the data, this study analyzed how major/supporting characters were transformed to animation characters in the scenes that were animated at the beginning and end of film that were released in 2007. Finally, this study investigated the process of character creation using portrait based on the analyzed data. Although this study tried to approach to character creation objectively using objective data rather than subjective judgment of the researcher, the researcher recognizes that subjective thoughts could not be completely excluded since it is done by man's hands. However, this author sincerely hopes that this research can be a great help in producing animation characters through understanding form factors of images that makes character for short film producers who suffered from slow work process due to difficulty in creating characters or authors who failed to complete satisfactory work as they could not find slight difference in character modification.

An Analysis on the Formative Requirements for Hybrid Characters and Influencing Relationship with Consumer Preference (하이브리드 캐릭터의 조형 요건과 소비자 선호도와의 영향관계 분석)

  • Hybrid is explained based on the logic of combination such as cross, melding, permeation, fusion, convergence etc. Such combination shows that it is more creative and effective in case of heterogeneity as compared to homogeneity and the same kind, and hybrid character has its meaning as a mean to produce a new creative image. In the context, this study aims to analyze influencing relationship through a practical analysis on how formative requirements for hybrid characters affects consumer preference. For the foregoing, this study conducted multiple regression analysis having familiarity, originality, meaningfulness, diversity as independent variables for formative requirements for characters, and consumer preference as a dependent variable. Analysis results show that familiarity, originality, diversity have a positive effect on consumers, whereas, meaningfulness has no significant impact on the consumer preference.

  • In this study, there is main purpose to provide useful data in order to use the Hangul as a design factor. Also, there are two subordinate goals. First, to analyze standards as people estimate Hangul characters. Second, to understand people's preferences about Hangul characters and then, to catch formal features about that characters. In first result, It is known that people estimate Hangul characters based on four standards. They are neat, soft, cyber and plain standards. As second consequence, preferential Hangul characters have pretty, intimate, refined, soil, elaborate, forthright, tidy image. And they are square shape as a whole, less decorative, round edge style.

  • In the every genre of arts we can find the oriental Yin-Yang idea which has been descended from olden time in the Orient. It arouses our big interest especially in the domain of design and plastic arts as well as in the every field of human culture, and its study and application will enrich the qualities of design and plastic arts. I think it is with the Yin-Yang idea that we have to chase to our own cultural activities to make differance from the others. Without it, we cannot advance any more the traditional heritage into better and higher state of level than the West, and our philosophy and spiritual activities be stagnant in the same cultural categories as oter countris have in common. The countries which have no distinguishing feature of their own are very easy to place themselves in the border of world culture, not in center of it only to give an immitatin of others. I would like to put great emphasis on Yin-Yang idea in the field of design and plastic arts because it will give newness and novelty to all the p대ple who are not familiar with the oriental Yin-Yang idea.

Shape Analysis for the Activation of a Traditional Zzaim (전통짜임의 활성화를 위한 조형적 분석)

  • This study aims to analyze the formativeness of zzaim (traditional craft techniques to combine two or more materials to make an angle or to weave them to make a slope side) and systematically classified these techniques to help furniture manufacturers effectively utilize them in the design of contemporary furniture. From this data, furniture manufacturers can have benefits to understand which type of zzaim techniques will be appropriate to their plan of building furniture, and practically use relevant techniques in the field. This study classified four different applications of zzaim techniques depending on sites, such as (1) the top, (2) middle body, (3) lower body, and (4) legs of furniture. In summary, zzaim techniques are differently applied depending on the application sites and formative types of furniture. This feature makes general furniture manufacturers who want to apply zzaim techniques for the first time have hard time to understand which kind of technique should be applied to which part. Recognizing this problem, this study expects general manufacturers as well as master artisans to more effectively utilize zzaim techniques by providing the systematic data on the formative analysis of types of furniture and application sites.

  • This study is about the class model that can demonstrate the modeling ability using the spatial perception capability on basic modeling required for jewelry design majors and the most important perspective method in jewelry design. The outputs were obtained by presenting the topics for creative activities to students after theoretical explaining how to present a spatial sense and presenting practical classes on basic shapes, stereoscopic shapes and perspective methods. While the existing basic molding classes were only practical classes, this study presented students with a class model that allows them to use creativity, basic perspective, and spatial sense together. And it was found out evaluation method that both students and professors can relate to each other through the intensive education effects and clear evaluation standards. I hope that this paper will continue to study more diverse materials and convergent class models.

A Study on the Aesthetic Characteristics of the digital silhouette animation, (미셀 오슬로의 <밤의 이야기>를 통해 본 디지털 실루엣 애니메이션의 미학적 특성 연구)

  • Silhouette Animation has been recognized as a genre of animation since the very beginning of the animation history, and also Its segmental movement and Aesthetic expression has led a variety of semantic interpretations. Especially the French animation director, Michel Ocelot, recently integrated 3-dimensional digital to the silhouettes animation, and it extended the possibility of the silhouettes animation in many aspects. In his latest animation feature, , he showed how he made changes in 3-dimension by creating and evolving his own way and style of silhouette animation. Although mainstream digital animations preferably to show realistic images and motion, Michel Ocelot used very selective movement, subjective digital colors and extended space which couldn't be expressed in the way of creating traditional style of silhouette animation. This alternative slow movement and the unique aesthetics in 3-dimension emphasize the unconscious elements of color, composition, patterns, and it provides digitally enhanced images and pictorial impression. In addition, the acquisition of digital three-dimensional use of space made possible to provides the wider formative imagination to the audience. In this paper, we analyzed aesthetic characteristics of the digital silhouette animation, (2011), specially focusing on the aspects of Movement, Image, Space, which could not be found in the traditional silhouette animation. It is significant to obtain diversity of the future digital animation and its positive development. In addition, this provides opportunity to explore Michel Ocelot's new experiments and animation philosophy.
