Folk paintings influence the lifestyle of the general public, and is visible practical communication presenting emotion, feelings and phenomenon through various functions and aesthetic molding specificity. Illustration as a medium for conveying information in modern society is time communication forming time circumstance based on a creative image, becoming an importance in the means of molding an active information society. Folk paintings and illustration express the subject of various kinds of stories of surroundings of daily lives ironically, humorously and symbolically, convey it in an accurate and detailed way in the various use of color and shape representation, and have a similar specificity as the general public's art influencing the society, culture, and environment, the general public's emotion and feelings of that time. The current research is to suggest the possibility and direction of Korean image representation in illustration by analyzing folk painting and illustration characters based on social, cultural function and role and molding specificity.

The purposes of this study is to analyze the formative relationship between artistic eye-makeup and clothes design by focusing on the period from 2000 to 2010 and to find out the development direction of the next makeup design. This study considered formative theory to analyze the formative relationship between artistic eye-makeup and clothes design of $Marian$ $L.$ $Davis$ and $Marilyn$ $R.$ $Delong's$ theory, and analyzed the formative relationship between artistic eye-makeup and clothes design in an aspect of line and form, color and material, The results are as follows: First, the shapes of the artistic eye-makeup such as tear drops, and rectangular paisleys were similar with the form of clothes such as the hourglass, cylinders and mix-types. Second, monotonic color coordination mainly appeared and sometimes contrast color coordination that induced complex contrast coordination were apparent as well. Third, the objects of the artistic eye-makeup such as glitter papers, spangles and beads had similar features as the material of clothes such as silk and spangle, and contrast was partially used like colors. The results suggest that artistic eye-makeup and clothes have an organic relationship, and artistic eye-makeup is changed with formative elements of clothes.

In the every genre of arts we can find the oriental Yin-Yang idea which has been descended from olden time in the Orient. It arouses our big interest especially in the domain of design and plastic arts as well as in the every field of human culture, and its study and application will enrich the qualities of design and plastic arts. I think it is with the Yin-Yang idea that we have to chase to our own cultural activities to make differance from the others. Without it, we cannot advance any more the traditional heritage into better and higher state of level than the West, and our philosophy and spiritual activities be stagnant in the same cultural categories as oter countris have in common. The countries which have no distinguishing feature of their own are very easy to place themselves in the border of world culture, not in center of it only to give an immitatin of others. I would like to put great emphasis on Yin-Yang idea in the field of design and plastic arts because it will give newness and novelty to all the p대ple who are not familiar with the oriental Yin-Yang idea.

Product designers sketch various ideas of foreground figures(detail design) onto background figures(basic form) and evaluate numerous combinations of them in the late stages of design process. Designers have to test their ideas elaborately with a high-fidelity physical model that looks like a real product. However, due to the requirements of time and expense in making high-fidelity design models, it is impossible to evaluate such a number of combinatorial solutions of background and foreground figures. Contrary to digital models, physical design models are not easily modifiable and so designers cannot easily develope ideas through iterative design-evaluation process. To address these problems, we proposed a new concept 'Augmented Plasticity' that gives morphological editability to a rigid physical object using Augmented Reality technology and implemented the idea as Digital Skin system. Digital Skin system figures out the position and orientation of object surface with ARToolKit visual marker and superimposes a deformed surface image seamlessly using differential rendering method. We tried to apply Digital Skin system to detail design, redesign of product, and material exploration task. In consequence, it was found that Digital Skin system has potential to allow designers to implement and test their ideas very efficiently in the late stages of design process.

새로운 탄생을 위해 과거의 것을 재조합하는 역사적 절충주의는 오늘날 과거로 회귀하고픈 현대인들의 요구에 부합하며 환영받고 있다. 본 연구는 복식에 표현된 역사적 절충주의 양식을 파악하기 위해 건축을 통해 그 특성을 규명하고 이를 복식에 적용시켜 19세기 복식은 복식사 문헌을 바탕으로 20세기를 대표하는 1990년대의 복식은 $\ulcorner$콜렉션$\lrcorner$지를 중심으로 복식의 역사적 절충주의 양식을 살펴보았다. 연구 결과, 서로 다른 두 장르에서 펼쳐진 역사적 절충주의는 비슷한 시기가운데 1)형태 참고를 특징으로 하는 조형성, 2)장식적인 아름다움을 특징으로 하는 장식성, 3)새로운 재질과 발전된 기술을 기반으로 하는 기술성, 4)불투명한 시대 경향을 지시하는 모호성이라는 조형적 특성을 나타내었고, 이로 인해 건축과 복식의 문화적 공유성은 재확인되었다. 이처럼 복식의 역사적 절충주의를 통해, 과거의 힘이 무엇이며 현재에 어떠한 의미를 지니는가를 상기한다면 복식사의 중요성은 더욱 부각될 것이다.

When it comes to art, the two conflicting themes of 'scientific progress' and the 'nature' have often motivated the advent of the new mode of arts. By the late 20th century, uniform and simplified mode of arts, inspired by scientific and technological progress of that time, was gradually disillusioned by the contemporaries due to the adverse effect of science on human life. In this context, naturalism pursuing for harmony of human and the nature came up as an alternative to those living in the 21st century. The pendulum has swung from minimalism to naturalism. Though the quantitative improvement of human life cannot be denied, the uprise of such problems as environmental pollution and exhaustion of natural resources degraded the quality of human life, which, eventually, shifted the attention to the theme - 'revival of naturality.' Therefore, this thesis intends to represent the modem interpretation of the 'revival of naturality' by applying the major expressions of Art Nouveau that also emphasized naturalism. Art Nouveau found its motifs from organic figures of natural beings and put them to designs of decorative arts. This carries a historical significance in that Art Nouveau boldly revolutionized historicism, which only repeated adoption and modification of the existing modes of arts, and opened it to the modem design with new attempts to practical applications of the arts. Art Nouveau, which means 'new art', prospered from the late 19th century to the early 20th century, and even after one century, it is highly appreciated, reviving as novel and vivid forms in this contemporary art. Art Nouveau based on naturalism has revisited our contemporary period when naturalism and feminized romanticism came into fashion and its common motifs revive in different jenre of arts such as fashion, furniture, glass works, and jewelry works. This study illustrates and analyzes the works of four major artists who gave a specific attention to botanical motifs of Art Nouveau and applies decorative beauty of highly sophisticated and organic curved lines and the expressional forms of botanical figures to design. Art Nouveau proved this; the nature herself is as beautiful as she can be. Within Art Nouveau, the true humanism can be revitalized with the 'revival of naturality'. This study rediscovered the boundless potential of modern interpretation and application of Art Nouveau in decorative art and design.

This is the deconstruction of functionism and means the complex phenomenon of disharmony such as the reputation of purity, search for history, irony and so on. The perceptional system of post modernist and deconstructionist philosopy, that allow us to have the critical angle of view such as the deconstruction of the existing foundation and the absence of the meaning of the reasoncentered thinking of the west, is shown to be grafted into design, fashion and so forth. These elements are taking root as the style of the end of the 20th century. The deconstructional fashion revolting against the existing regime has been reconstructed and created a innovative aesthetic sense by going so far as to address the way that doffing is formed, the way to handle materials and physiological and psychological elements. The deconstructional fashion depicted on new interpretation of the body proportion with planeness and specificity while ignoring three-dimensionality , structuristic rationality

Just as various religions of the world have multiple systems based on their own belief system respectively, religious costumes, which are the expression of religion, are varied in forms according to different religions. Nonetheless, this research attempts to examine the universal features of the variety of religious costumes. Since the range of this research is broad and the limit of study is clear, this research confines the study objects into world's four high religions. The purposes of this research are as followings; first, the investigation of the world's high religions, second, the study of the figurative attributes of religious costume to study and discuss the universality of figurative beauty and aesthetic value. Figurative attributes are distinct in religious costume. First, the non structural feature of composition, and the manner in which the costume is worn. Second, the rich silhouette covering the body. Third, the restraint and inhibition of decoration, and fourth, the preference of achromatic color and monotones. 'The beauty of concealing', derived from the religious absolute and chastity, 'The beauty of chastity' influenced by the restraint of decoration and design, and 'The beauty of nature' as the drapery and non structural feature are the universal aesthetic values. Human beings tend to contact the divine beings by pursuing the essential thing and concealing the body through religion. The forms of concealment and chastity, mentioned above are reflected in the usual costumes, affected by religion as well as religious costume.

In this paper, semi-fragile watermarking algorithm was proposed for the application to RP(Rapid Prototyping) system. In the case of the perceptual change or distortion of the original one, the prototype product will be affected from the process because the RP system requires the high precision measure. Therefore, the geometrical transformations like translation, rotation and scaling, the mesh order change and the file format change are used in the RP system because they do not change the basic shapes of the 3D models, but, the decimation and the smoothing are not used because they change the models. The proposed algorithm which is called semi-fragile watermarking is robust against to these kinds of manipulations which preserve the original shapes because it considers the limitations of the RP system, but fragile against to the other manipulations which change the original shapes. This algorithm does not change the model shapes after embedding the watermark information, that is, there is no shape difference between the original model and the watermarked model. so, it will be useful to authenticate the data integrity and hide the information in the field of mechanical engineering which requires the high precision measure.

Recently, there is a tendency of consumer's participation gradually increasing in the design shaping process. Consumers make evaluation or suggestion about the shape of the product, and the industries lay out schemes to elicit consumers' participation. However, when it comes to dealing with the shape of the product, consumer and designer has a fundamental difference in their point of view, and it works as interruption to the efficient communication between the consumer and designer. Therefore, this study will examine the difference of consumer's and designer's view of products' shape, and the guidelines of effective molding which elicit the consumers' affective responses. First, I established the sensible image vocabulary based on the shape of the product. And based on the vocabulary, I carried out the same experiments to the consumers and designers. As a result, the affective responses of the two groups toward the shape have similar characteristics and designers' reactions found out to be more dramatic than consumers.
