Steering Performance Test of Autonomous Guided Vehicle(AGV) Based on Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS) (위성항법 기반 AGV(Autonomous Guided Vehicle)의 조향 성능 시험)

  • In this paper, a GNSS-based AGV system was designed, and steering tested on a golf cart using electric wires in order to confirm the control efficiency of the low speed vehicle which used only position information of GNSS. After analyzed the existing AGVs system, we developed controller and steering algorithm using GNSS based position information. To analyze the performance of the developed controller and steering algorithm, straight-type and circle-type trajectory test are executed. The results show that steering performance of GNSS-based AGV system is ${\pm}\;0.2m$ for a reference trajectory.

  • On-center handling feel indices are the important numerical factors that meaning performance of manuability and stability felt by drivers. They should be considered to suspension design. The major factor that affect to these indices is the shape of assist torque curve. This paper presents the variables that meaning the shape of the assist torque curve and analyze the effect of each variables. And using interaction formulas, it is proposed that the method to extract the variables that satisfy the goal indices. The result of simulation that applied assist torque curve extracted by the method demonstrate the capability of this method with error under 8%.

Design of beam steering dipole phased array antenna systems for IMT-2000 base station (IMT-2000 기지국용 빔 조향 다이폴 위상배열 안테나 시스템 설계)

  • In this paper, the beam steering dipole phased array antenna systems for IMT-2000 base station have been designed. The designed beam steering dipole phased array antenna systems are constituted by the antenna part and the beam steering control system part. The antenna part is designed by the proposed flat dipole for the broadband characteristics, and the 8${\times}$8 dipole array antenna is constructed by the proposed flat dipole for the directional radiation pattern. Besides the vertical power divider is designed for the vertical power distribution. The beam steering control system part is designed the horizontal power divider for the horizontal power distribution, the 4-bit phase shifters and the driving circuit of phase shifters for the horizontal beam tilting. In order to evaluate a performance of the designed antenna systems, they were fabricated and the radiation characteristics were measured. From the measured results, we found that the horizontal beams were tilted by the each control signals, and the measured radiation characteristics showed good agreement with the design goals.

Co-Simulation Technology Development with Electric Power Steering System and Full Vehicle (전동 조향 장치와 차량의 동시 시뮬레이션 기술 개발)

  • Most power steering systems obtain the power by a hydraulic mechanism. Therefore, it consumes more energy because the oil power should be sustained all the times. Recently, to solve this problem the electric power system has been developed and become widely equipped in passenger vehicles. In this research the simulation integration technique for an electric power steering system with MATLAB/SIMULINK and a full vehicle model with ADAMS has been developed. A full vehicle model interacted with electronic control unit algorithm is concurrently simulated with an impulsive steering wheel torque input. The dynamic responses of vehicle chassis and steering system are evaluated. This integrated method allows engineers to reduce the prototype testing cost and to shorten the developing period.

  • In this paper, an electro hydraulic power steering system based on electro hydrostatic actuator (EHA) is proposed. A detailed steering model for the proposed electro hydraulic power steering system including mechanical and hydraulic subsystems is established. A conventional electro hydraulic power steering system is also modeled to evaluate the performance of the proposed power steering system such as responsiveness, assist force, command tracking and steering feel by computer simulation. From the computer simulation results, it is found that the proposed power steering system based on EHA has desirable performance.

  • An effective drowsy driver detection system is needed, because the probability of accident is high for drowsy driving and its severity is high at the time of accident. However, the drowsy driver detection system that uses bio-signals or vision is difficult to be utilized due to high cost. Thus, this paper proposes a drowsy driver detection algorithm by using steering angle sensor, which is attached to the most of vehicles at no additional cost, and vehicle information such as brake switch, throttle position signal, and vehicle speed. The proposed algorithm is based on jerk criterion, which is one of drowsy driver's steering patterns. In this paper, threshold value of each variable is presented and the proposed algorithm is evaluated by using acquired vehicle data from hardware in the loop simulation (HILS) through CAN communication and MATLAB program.

  • Complete novel software for MDPS for the simulation and analysis is proposed for steering engineers. The software, MSAS, which can provide the functionality for MDPS Simulation, Analysis & Synthesis, is based on the steering system model, vehicle model and control logic. As the suppliers provide the control logic as a black box, this software is capable of using any type of black box logic or white box control logic that can be developed by logic designers. In addition, this software will be synthesized with the suppliers' s-function control logic and RMDPS together.

  • This paper describes a fuzzy steering controller for an outdoor autonomous mobile robot using MR(magneto-resistive) sensor. Using the magnetic field difference values(dBy, dBz) obtained from the MR sensor, we designed fuzzy logic controller for driving the robot on the road center and proposed a method to eliminate the Earth magnetic field. To develop an autonomous mobile robot simulation program, we have done modeling MR sensor, mobile robot and coordinate transformation. A computer simulation of the robot including mobile robot dynamics and steering was used to verify the driving performance of the mobile robot controller using the fuzzy logic. So, we confirmed the robustness of the proposed fuzzy controller by computer simulation.
