  • Torsional oscillations of a system incorporating a Hooke's joint are investigated by studying a simple similar nonlinear 2-degree-of-freedom model, which has linear and quadratic nonlinear parametric excitations. The simple system is identified to have the possibilities of primary, sub harmonic and combination resonances. The case of simultaneous primary and combination resonances is selected for perturbation analysis to have the reduced amplitude-equations of motion. The same procedure is applied to the system incorporating a Hooke's joint.

  • The existing analog controllers for typical fermentation variables such as rpm and temperature were properly modified in order to be interiaced with microcomputers. Other necessary corrections like the impedance matching, the ground isolation, and the signal range adjustment were done for the successful interfacing between fermentor detectors and computers and for the eventual on-line feedback control of temperature and DO and the induction of the fermentation process with recombinant cells.

  • 동영상에서 얼굴의 움직임을 이해하는 것은 인간과 컴퓨터간의 상호작용을 이루는 분야에서 중요한 문제이다. 본 논문에서는 2차원 동영상에서 얼굴요소 및 얼굴의 움직임을 측정하기 위해 optical flow를 통해 매개변수화된 움직임 벡터를 추출한다. 그리고 나서, 이를 소수의 매개변수들의 조합으로 만들어 얼굴의 움직임에 대한 정보를 묘사할 수 있게 하였다. 매개변수화된 움직임 벡터는 얼굴 및 얼굴 요소의 특징에 따라 다른 벡터 모델을 사용한다. 2차원 동영상에서 매개변수화된 움직임 벡터는 매 프레임마다 갱신되어 각 프레임에서 얼굴 및 얼굴 요소의 위치를 파악한다. 또한, 갱신된 벡터의 매개변수 조합으로 만들어 확인된 움직임에 대한 정보가 3차원 얼굴모델에 전달되며 3차원 얼굴 모델의 단위행위(Action Unit)와 연결되어 2차원 동영상에서의 얼굴 움직임을 합성할 수 있게 하였다.

  • 본 논문은 개방형 IPTV 서비스를 위한 서비스 생성도구에 대한 것으로, 웹 서비스 기반의 컴포넌트를 기본단위로 GUI(Graphic User Interface) 상에서 각각의 컴포넌트를 조합하여 IPTV 융합 서비스를 생성하는 서비스 생성환경 제공방법에 대해 소개한다. 개방형 IPTV 플랫폼에서는 방송제어, 통신제어, 웹 콘텐츠 제어, 정보 제어 기능 등을 웹 서비스 기반의 Open API 로 제공하고 있으며, 서비스 생성도구는 개방형 IPTV 플랫폼에서 제공하는 Open API 를 컴포넌트로 하여 컴포넌트들을 조합하고 연결하기 위한 GUI 환경인 그래픽 에디터, 그래픽 에디터에서 완성한 서비스 로직에 대한 서비스 프로그램 코드를 생성하기 위한 코드 생성기, 서비스 프로그램을 컴파일하고, 컴파일이 완료된 서비스 프로그램을 디플로이하는 서비스 디플로이어로 구성된다.

Transfer and Expression of the Recombinant hFSH Gene in CHO Cells and Transgenic Chickens using Retrovirus Vector System (CHO 세포와 형질전환 닭에 있어서 Retrovirus Vector System에 의한 hFSH 재조합 유전자의 전이와 발현)

  • hFSH (human follicle stimulating hormone) is heterodimer consisting of $\alpha$ and $\beta$ subunits. Since assembly of the both subunits in the cell is often the rate-limiting step in production of functional hormone, single-chain hormones have been engineered by genetically linking two different cDNA fragments with a linker sequence. Using retrovirus vector system, the resulting recombinant hFSH gene was transferred in CHO cells and chicken embryos, and the expression of the gene was investigated. In CHO cells, protein synthesis from the single-chain FSH gene was 17 fold higher than that from the heterodimeric counterpart. In the study of transgenic chickens, ten of the eleven chicks hatched from 62 embryos manupulated with recombinant retrovirus stock was determined to carry transgenic genes. RT-PCR analyses confirmed transcription of the single-chain FSH gene, however, no recombinant FSH was detected from the blood samples.

  • Cognitive science attempts to explain human intelligence on the basis of success of artificial neural network, which is called connectionism. The neural network, e.g., deep learning, seemingly promises connectionism to go beyond what it is. But those(Fodor & Pylyshyn, Fodor, & McLaughlin) who advocate classical computationalism, or symbolism claim that connectionism must fail since it cannot represent the relation between human thoughts and human language. The neural network lacks systematicity, so any output of neural network is at best association or accidental combination of data plugged in input units. In this paper, I first introduce structure of artificial neural network and what connectionism amounts to. Second, I shed light on the problem of systematicity the classical computationalists pose for the connectionists. Third, I briefly introduce how those who advocate connectionism respond to the criticism while noticing Smolensky's theory of vector product. Finally, I examine the debate of computationalism and connectionism on systematicity, and show how the problem of systematicity contributes to the development of connectionism and computationalism both.

Traffic Grooming Algorithm for Minimizing the Number of SONET ADMs in WDM Ring Networks (WDM 링에서 SONET ADM 수를 최소화하기 위한 트래픽 그루밍 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient traffic grooming algorithm to minimize to number of SONET ADMs which is the dominant cost of system in high speed optical ring networks. It is an optimal traffic grooming algorithm to be applied to both unidirectional ring and bi-directional ring under both uniform traffic and nonuniform traffic. The proposed traffic grooming algorithm consists of two subalgorithms : one is the algorithm to construct full connection-rings as many as possible to minimize gaps by cutting the connections and using redirection method, and the other is the algorithm to groom connection-rings into a wavelength to maximize the number of shared nodes. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm is superior to conventional algorithm under various network conditions.

  • The $4^{th}$ industrial revolution is a super connection society. It connects all things between things and things, PC and mobile phone, human and human and human and things. In Jeju island, 'Batdam' and 'Sandam' are conneted like 'black dragon ten thousand Li', and stone walls are connected to each other as the stone network, which is called as the 'Goendam' (and conventionally is told as the 'Goendang') and is related to the Family network. Also, IoT(Internet of Things) makes the connection between the stone network and people. The Jeju's fourth industrial revolution is a its testbed. 'Goendang' connection in 4G industrial revolution is shown to be important Node and Link in socially and mathematically. In this paper, we review the historical background of the Goendang and find combinations of stones on the various types of stone field using the algebraic geometry.

Normalized Mean Field Annealing Algorithm for Module Orientation Problem (모듈 방향 결정 문제 해결을 위한 정규화된 평균장 어닐링 알고리즘)

  • 각 모듈들의 위치가 배치 알고리즘에 의해 결정된 후에도 모듈들을 종축 또는 횡축을 중심으로 뒤집거나 회전시킴으로써 회로의 효율성과 연결성을 향상시킬 수 있다. 고집적 회로설계의 한 단계인 모듈방향 결정 문제는 모듈간에 연결된 선의 길이의 합이 최소가 되도록 각 모듈의 방향을 결정하는 문제이다. 최근에 평균장 어닐링 방법이 조합적 최적화 문제에 사용되어 좋은 결과를 보여 주고 있다. 평균장 어닐링은 신경회로망의 따른 수렴 특성과 시뮬레이티드 어닐링의 우수한 해를 생성하는 특성이 결합된 방법이다. 본 논문에서는 정규화된 평균장 어닐링을 사용해서 모듈 방향 결정 문제를 해결하였고 실험을 통해 기존의 Hopfield 네트워크 방법과 시뮬레이티드 어닐링과 그 결과를 비교하였다. 시뮬레이티드 어닐링, 정규화된 평균장 어닐링과 Hopfield 네트워크의 총 길이 감소율은 각각 19.86%, 19.85%, 19.03%였으며, 정규화된 평균장 어닐링의 실행 시간은 Hopfield 네트워크보다는 1.1배, 시뮬레이티드 어닐링보다는 11.4배 정도 빨랐다.

Identification of joint dynamics of mechanical structures using condensed F.E.M. model and experimental modal analysis (축약된 유한요소 모델과 실험적 모우드 해석을 이용한 기계구조물의 연결부 동특성 규명)

  • Dynamic properties such as stiffness and damping of mechanical joints are essential for the accurate prediction of the dynamic behaviors of the system and subsequent improvement of the design. So far several techniques, analytical, experimental, or both have been developed. A technique using condensed F.E.M. model and Experimental Modal Analysis is presented to identify the joint structural parameters. First, modal parameters of structure are measured by certain complex frequency obtained from experiment to match with the order of the Experimental Modal Analysis model. Finally by equating the modal parameters obtained from experiment with those of the condensed system, the unknown joint structural parameters can be identified. A simulation study is conducted to investigate the accuracy of technique. The experiments are performed with ball bearings in a rotor bearing system.
