In this thesis we propose a two-stage periodic inspection model for maintaining the reliability of a system in long-term storage. There are two types of tests available; a fallible test and an error-free test. The system is overhauled at detection of failure or when the storage reliability after inspection becomes less than or equal to the prespecified value. The expected cost per unit time until overhaul is derived and a procedure for minimizing the expected cost is suggested. The two-stage periodic inspection model is compared with the one-stage periodic inspection model for various parameters of the cost function when the failure time follows exponential and Weibull distributions. The proposed model is then applied to an existing missile system for comparison with the current inspection policy.

Purpose: Typical cross finger flap is still a good method for reconstruction of fingertip injuries. However, it is necessarily followed by great loss and aesthetically unpreferable result of donor finger. Hereby, we introduce a modification of cross finger flap with reduction pulp plasty and full thickness skin graft, with which we could reduce the defect size of injured fingertip and donor site morbidity at the same time, without any need for harvesting additional skin from other part of hand. Method: This method was performed in the patients with fingertip injuries of complete amputation or in case of loss of fingertip due to necrosis after replantation. Firstly, reduction pulp plasty was performed on the injured finger to reduce the size of defect of fingertip. Additional skin flap was obtained from the pulp plasty. Secondly, cross finger flap was elevated from the adjacent finger to cover the defect on the injured finger. At the same time, defect on the donor finger produced by the flap elevation was covered by full thickness skin graft with the skin obtained from the pulp plasty of injured finger. Results: Flap and graft survived without any necrosis after surgical delay and flap detachment. All of them were healed well and did not present any severe adversary symptoms. Conclusion: Cross finger flap with reduction pulp plasty and full thickness skin graft is an effective method that we can easily apply in reconstruction of fingertip injury. We think that it is more helpful than the usual manner, especially in cases of children with less soft tissue on their fingers for preservation and reduction of the morbidity of donor finger.

Purpose: Radial and ulnar arteries are two major arteries responsible for the blood supply of the hand. We experienced early recurrent thrombosis of ulnar artery after arteriorrhaphy in a patient with rupture of ulnar and radial arteries due to glass injury. Thus, we thought this would require reviews. Method: 41 - year - old female patient was presented for the laceration of right wrist due to glass injury. Operative findings revealed the rupture of radial artery, ulnar artery, ulnar nerve and most of the flexor tendons. We performed three consecutive operations because of the recurrent arterial thrombosis in ulnar artery. Arteriorrhaphy was performed in each operation and the interpositional vein graft was performed in the final operation. Result: Consequently, doppler ultrasonography was performed on twentieth postoperative day and fair flow in the ulnar artery was visualized. Pathologic examination of the artery revealed no histopathologic abnormalities. Conclusion: It is not a matter of ease to follow up the patients with rupture of radial or ulnar arteries. Obstruction of the repaired artery is also not easy to detect because it usually presents no definite symptoms. We could detect the obstruction of the artery following arteriorrhaphy with the doppler ultrasonography in less than a week postoperatively, and repeated operations were followed. We reviewed the causes and factors affecting the thrombosis and hereby report with literature review.

This study was performed to investigate species diversity of understory in Mt. Biryong. The quadrat size was installed based on the result of analysis of Species-Area Curve. The vascular plants were enlisted 107 taxa: 47 families, 80 genera, 91 species, 11 varieties, 2 subspecies, and 3 forms. The three taxa such as Carex okamotoi, Philadelphus schrenkii var. schrenkii, and Weigela subsessilis were enlisted from the surveyed sites as the Korean endemic plants. Due to the list from the Korea Forestry Administration, Rhododendron micranthum was enlisted as the rare plant. The growth from was categorized followed by forbs, shrubs and trees, respectively.
There are many eutrophic lakes by point and non-point pollution sources such as in dustrial waste water, domestic raw sewage, and mucks. The eutrophic lakes not only cause algal blooms but also destroy the ecosystem in the lakes due to high nutrient concentrations. The purpose of this study was to improve water quality in eutrophic lakes by cultivating microalgae using photobioreactors (PBRs) with selectively permeable mesh (SPM), supplying nutrients in the lake and inhibiting cell leakage by diffusion and water permeability. Chlorella vulgaris, was cultivated using PBRs with SPM installed in Inkyung Lake located in Inha university, Incheon, Korea. When cultivating C. vulgaris, $8.3g/m^2/day$ of average biomass productivity was obtained at 3 days. Furthermore, concentrations of total nitrogen and phosphorus were reduced by 35.7% and 84.2%, respectively, compared to initial condition and water quality in eutrophic lake was improved to oligotrophic environment. These results suggest that microalgal cultivation using PBRs with SPM in the lake could produce microalgal biomass as well as improve water quality by decreasing nutrient concentrations.

This paper presents a low-power 0.6-V 10-bit 200-kS/s double rail-to-rail successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converter (ADC). The proposed scheme allows input signal with 4 times power which is compared with conventional one by applying proposed rail-to-rail scheme, and that improves signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) of NTV SAR ADCs. The prototype was designed using 65-nm CMOS technology. At a 0.6-V supply and $2.4-V_{pp}$ (differential) and 200-kS/s, the ADC achieves an SNDR of 59.87 dB and consumes 364.5-nW. The ADC core occupies an active area of only $84{\times}100{\mu}m^2$.

Objectives: This study aimed to provide temporal Acute Exposure Guideline Levels (AEGL) for a hazardous substance as a pilot study. Methods: As one of the substances designated by the Korea Ministry of Environment as requiring preparations for potential accidents, formaldehyde was selected to estimate the AEGLs. The calculation was based on Haber's formula (Cn×t=k) using valid toxicity data (for humans/animals). A total of 96 points of AEGL levels were provided using an interval of five minutes over eight hours. Results: The AEGL-1 and 2 values were constant for the entire exposure duration at 0.9 ppm and 14 ppm, respectively. The values were obtained from clinical/animal tests, and the adaptation effect after a given exposure duration was also considered. AEGL-3 was based on animal toxicity data, and it was estimated from 127 ppm for the initial five minutes to 35 ppm for eight hours. Conclusions: More specific AEGL levels for formaldehyde could be obtained in this study using toxicity data with Haber's formula. Based on this methodology, it would be also possible to estimate AEGL levels that can be used at the scene of a chemical accident for other substances requiring preparation for potential accidents.

본 논문은 무선 센서 네트워크의 대표적 클러스터링 기반 라우팅 기법인 LEACH(Low - Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy)프로토콜에 SVM(Support Vector Machine)을 적용하여 센서노드의 균형적인 베터리 소비로 망을 효율적으로 관리하고 망의 수명을 개선 할 수 있는 방법을 제안 한다.
