  • Using the meteorological data, surface weather map, and oceanographic data for 5 years(1984-1988). I investigated the characteristics of the fog occurrence and the role of the inshore in Pusan about the fog occurrence. And the meteorological data and sea surface temperature(SST), which were observed in July, 1989 in Suyoung Bay, were compared with those in Pusan. The fogs in Pusan concentrate in May, June and July. And at fog occurrence time the principal wind directions are Southwest(SW) winds, which easily supply with water vapor, and a series of Northeast(NE) wind. At the fog days pressure patterns are pattern 7 in spring time (March, April, and May) and pattern 10 and pattern 13 in summer time (June, July, and August). Also the advection fog(sea fog) is closely related with the relationship between warm and cold advection in 850~700mb and cold and warm SST rather than the increase of the instability of atmosphere in 850~500mb. The fogs in Taegu, which is the inland region, mainly occur at dawn in fall time due to the strong night radiation fog. On the other hand in Pusan the coastal region, the fogs occur from late spring time to summer time (May, June, and July). Because there is the abundant supply of the water vapor from the ocean owing to a series of South(S) wind at this time. Then the atmosphere, which has high relative humidity, reaches easily the supersaturation by the radiation cooling. In Suyoung Bay and Pusan the meteorological observation data, SST and fog days are almost similar. And I think that the mechanism of the fog occurrence nearly accords with both regions.

  • This study examined the effects of children's perceived stress of economic strain, resulting family conflict, and stress coping strategies on their adjustment. Dimensions of children's adjustment studied in this research were problem behaviors (aggression, delinquency, withdrawal and anxiety depression) and school adjustment. Interaction effects between children's stress variables and coping strategies on the adjustment were also explored. 1,115 fifth to eighth graders from Chungbuk regions participated in self-administered structured questionnaires. Data were processed with SPSS PC 10.0 statistical package. Results were: First, the level of children's problem behaviors and school adjustment indicated differences according to their academic achievement, gender, and their age. Middle schoolers with rather low grade average reported higher level of aggression, delinquency, withdrawal and that of depression/anxiety. Boys tended to be more prone to external problems while girls to internal problems. Second, stresses originated from children's perceived economic strain and family conflicts showed consistent meaningful explanatory power on adjustment. Boys' adjustment was influenced by stress from economic strain and family conflict while girls by family conflict and academic achievements. The support seeking coping strategy among others was the most popularly employed coping strategy of children followed by aggressive coping strategy. In boys' cases, interaction effects of stress and coping strategies were significant in all of the adjustment variables, the more frequent the use of support seeking coping strategies, the lower the problem behavior, while interaction effect of family conflict stress and support seeking coping strategies played the opposite significant role in girls' cases. Further research efforts are required. Research results suggest; when developing a program facilitating children's adjustment, training on stress coping strategies should be considered as a potent new arena of interest.

  • Purpose: We investigated the natural history of acute, isolated posterior cruciate ligament injuries treated conservatively. Materials and Methods: Between February 1999 and October 2006, we evaluated retrospectively the results of acute, isolated posterior cruciate ligament injuries treated conservatively. The subjects consisted of 21 patients. At initial and follow up visits physical examination, $KT-2000^{TM}$ arthrometer and MRI were performed to assess improvement on the knee stability and continuity of the posterior cruciate ligament. IKDC (International Knee Documentation Committee) knee scoring and quadriceps muscle strength were also checked in all population. Comparing the results of initial and follow up examinations we assessed the natural history of acute, isolated posterior cruciate ligament injuries treated conservatively. The mean follow up period was 22.7 months. Results: The posterior drawer test showed 14 cases of Grade I, 6 cases of Grade II and 1 case of Grade III progressing 18 cases of Grade I and 3 cases of Grade II. The mean difference of 5.7mm by $KT-2000^{TM}$ arthrometer was changed Into 2.7mm and the continuity of posterior cruciate ligament initially checked by 48.1% on MRI increased to 69.7%. The mean quadriceps muscle strength was grade 'Good' and mean IKDC knee score was nearly grade 'A'. Conclusion: Our study suggests that patients with acute, isolated posterior cruciate ligament injuries treated conservatively may get good clinical outcomes on clinical situation and MRI.

  • Global competition and unstable economic situation in recent years have brought in adverse working conditions such as proliferation of temporary or part-time workers and new shift system. In this study we use exploratory data analysis method to find the relationship between some of the important variables which are related to working hours in KWCS (Korean Working Conditions Survey) and EWCS (European Working Conditions Survey). Next, working hours are explored in terms of sex, employment type, occupation and industry using 2006, 2010, 2011, 2014 KWCS data as well as 2010 EWCS data. Lastly, respondents are divided into two groups of healthy and nonhealthy workers and their working hours are explored in terms of the same categories as above. Finally, simple regression analysis is used to find the effect of health on weekly working hours and adjustment of the effect of health on weekly working hours is made using multiple regression analysis with some other independent variable such as sex, age and employment type included in the model.

  • This study aimed to present cosmetic countermeasures for preventing fast aging process in the middle age and accepting healthy aging both physically and mentally by investigating the perception of aging according to the health condition, lifestyle and psychological condition targeting mid-aged women in 40s to 50s residing in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do Province. The data collection period was from July 25 to Sept 1, 2015. The data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. It was shown that as the age was higher, the menopause ratio was higher, drinking, exercise volume and hours of sleep were reduced and the stress and psychological pressure were higher. According to the menopausal status, the status of facial aging showed a significant difference (${\chi}^2=39.692^{***}$, p<.001), and it also showed a difference according to the status of leisure (hobby) activity (${\chi}^2=22.470^{***}$, p<.01). Also, as higher the age and closer to the menopause in items including the progress of aging, anxiety about aging and improvement efforts, more negative perception was shown, indicating that it is necessary to prepare cosmetic countermeasures for mid-aged women in like a second puberty 40s to 50s although aging and menopause around 50s are very natural. If a beauty alternative is provided, it will help them to have a successful retirement.

  • This study is a descriptive research to analyze psychosocial factors affecting health behavior adherence among community-dwelling older adults undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention. Data were collected with structured questionnaires from 126 patients discharged after hospitalization from a university hospital in J city, Gyeongnam, from July 15 to October 2 in 2018, and analyzed using SPSS/WIN 21.0. The result shows that the general characteristics, such as existence of spouse, education level, subjective health status, and subjective life satisfaction, have a significant influence on health behavior adherence. The research also identifies that medical support and resilience are positively correlated with health behavior adherence. In contrast, perceived stress, 3 sub-categories from perceived stress such as, family relations, anxiety and withdrawal, poverty and finance, and depression are negatively correlated. In the multiple regression analysis, resilience, perceived stress from poverty and finance, education level, and subjective life satisfaction explained 27.9% of health behavior adherence among older adults undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop and apply a nursing intervention program to improve the health behavior adherence of local older adults who had Percutaneous Coronary Intervention.

  • This study was conducted to explore the characteristics of learner who showed free riding behavior in online collaborative learning. For this, 290 students from three universities in the metropolitan area were studied. The collected data are as follows. Learner characteristics are learning strategy, learning motivation, academic retardation behavior, and learning disposition. Interaction distinguished between frequency and type of message. Interaction levels were collected with frequency. The subjects with less than 5 interaction frequencies were defined as free-riding students. 43 students were classified as free riders. Learner characteristics were analyzed by cluster analysis. As a result, the learner characteristics were divided into five groups. All the free riding students belonged to 4 groups. The learner characteristics of 4 groups are as follows. First, the level of the learning strategy is very low. Second, learning motivation has a high tendency toward performance - oriented approach and high tendency to avoid performance. This tends to deliberately avoid learning. Third, the level of delayed behavior is high. This is deliberately putting off student activities. Fourth, learning tendency is high in academic anxiety, task value, self efficacy and learning belief are very low. This is a lack of confidence in learning.

  • In this paper, we experimentally investigate the fiber fuse in single-mode 2-kW-class high-power fiber amplifiers, depending on the cooling method at the splicing point. We measured the temperature of the splicing point between the pump-signal combiner and gain fiber as a function of laser output power. The temperature of the splicing point increased from 20 to 32℃ with a slope of 0.01℃/W, up to 1.2 kW of laser output power. At higher powers the temperature of the splicing point increased dramatically, with a slope of 0.08℃/W. After that, the fiber amplifier was destroyed during operation at 1.96 kW of output power by fiber fuse. The bullet shape, a common feature of fiber fuse, was observed in the damaged passive fiber core of the pump-signal combiner. Later, we adopted an improved water-cooled cold plate to increase the cooling efficiency at the splicing point, and investigated the laser output power. The temperature at the splicing point was 35.8℃ with a temperature-rise slope of 0.007℃/W at the maximum output power of 2.05 kW. The beam quality M2 was measured to be less than 1.3, and the output beam's profile was a stable Gaussian shape. Finally, neither fiber fuse nor mode instability was observed in the fiber amplifier at the maximum output power of 2.05 kW.

  • The standards for heavy metal levels in crustaceans are 0.5 mg/kg and 1.0 mg/kg or lower for lead and cadmium, respectively. Further, the contamination levels of arsenic, mercury, methyl mercury, and tin are being continuously investigated, considering their current exposure levels. Shrimps are potentially exposed to heavy metals because they inhabit areas with abundant organic matter, such as sandy or muddy shores, places with a lot of seaweed, and estuaries. This study measured the monetary value of reducing consumer anxiety and increasing consumer confidence if the government prohibits the sale of shrimp species that exceed the threshold for specific heavy metals and of the top shrimp species for which no threshold for heavy metals is specified. We derived consumer willingness-to-pay (WTP). Combining the estimated WTP with the number of households in the country, the total value of benefits was estimated to be 363.9 billion won. The results of this study will provide an important empirical finding, showing to what extent specific policies regarding heavy metals in seafood can alleviate consumer anxiety and provide psychological reassurance.
