Policy Directions to Build on Nature-Friendly Park Facilities - Based on an Evaluation on the Nature-Friendliness of Park Facilities in National Parks - (자연친화적인 공원시설 설치를 위한 정책방향 - 국립공원 공원시설의 자연친화성 평가를 근거로 -)

  • The purpose of this research was to propose policy directions for the design and construction of nature-friendly park facilities (PF) in national parks. In order to do that, nature-friendliness evaluation indicators(NEIs) used in green building rating systems and related articles were reviewed. After the initial literature review was complete, NEIs for park facilities based on location, design, construction, operation, and management sectors were developed. Data was obtained through a questionnaire completed by 79 managers at 19 national parks in Korea in 2008. The answers were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods, a t-test, a multi-dimensional analysis, and a factor analysis. This research found that: 1) The results indicated that based on relative weight calculation, the location condition was evaluated as the most important; 2) The evaluation results regarding the degree of nature-friendliness of park facilities showed that location condition was ranked higher than design and construction--in addition, the evaluated values of indicators related to energy efficiency were ranked the lowest; 3) the level of nature-friendliness of shelter was given the highest level, but resting facility was the lowest level; 4) Overall, park facilities at Mt. Seorak, Mt. Odae, and Taean Coast national parks showed high levels of nature-friendliness. But park facilities at Mt. Gyeongju and Mt. Songni national parks showed low levels of nature-friendliness. The results of this research shall contribute to the establishment of tailor-made management policies, the development of detailed guidelines for increased energy efficiency and visitor satisfaction, and the preservation of ecosystems and natural resources in Korea's national parks.

Application of QUAL2K Model for Daejeon Tandongcheon, A Small Urban Stream and Evaluation of Terrace Land Constructed Wetland (도시 소하천, 대전 탄동천, 수질개선 대안 수립을 위한 QUAL2K 수질모델 구축과 제외지 인공습지공법 적용 효율 평가)

  • The Tandong-cheon stream is a 7.4 km long small urban stream that passes through Daeduk Science Town in Daejeon Korea. Despite the stream has great potential as an educational and recreational site due to its central location in the science town and science museums nearby, environmental aspect especially for water quality has not been evaluated properly. Through field survey, major pollution sources of the stream were identified and effect of water quality improvement alternatives were evaluated using a QUAL2K water quality model for the stream. The study indicated that controlling major pollution sources of the stream alone may not be sufficient for reaching the water quality target. Therefore, additional pollution control methods are necessary. We applied the developed model to evaluate the effects of a constructed wetland on the terrace land, and analyzed whether the water quality target can be met at the outlet of the stream. It is expected that this study would provide a good reference for environmentally sound management of small urban streams in Korea.

A Study on the Idea of Forest Park in Kyongsungbu Namsan Park Design Proposal in 1917 (1917년 경성부 남산공원설계안의 삼림공원 개념에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze features and meanings on Kyonsungbu Namsan Park Design Proposal established in 1917, and to discuss the significance of the idea of Forest Park on Namsan Park. This Namsan Park Design Proposal has been the first attempt to apply modern park concept to broaden Namsan area by a professional park planner. The professional park planner to conduct Namsan Park Design Proposal is Dr. Seiroku Honda who is a pioneer of modern Japanese park planning. He clarified the concept of Namsan Park into Forest Park. With his idea we can imagine the position of Namsan at that time as a meaningful green space in Kyonsung city. In the proposal, the planning boundary of Namsan Park was considered widely as Namsan area into one big park, including the north with existing Wesungdae Park, Hanyang Park, Noinjeong and Jangchungdan, and the south with connecting park to Yongsan area beyond the walls of Hangyang castle. In a wide range of park space of the plan, parkways and park facilities were introduced. How to manage new parkways and facilities were also considered together. The significance of this plan is that it is the first trial of modern park planning with Namsan. In addition to the analysis of Kyonsungbu Namsan Park Design Proposal, the modern meaning and implications were also discussed.

Design and Implementation of a Cloud-based Linux Software Practice Platform (클라우드 기반 리눅스 SW 실습 플랫폼의 설계 및 구현 )

  • Recently, there are increasing cases of managing software labs by assigning virtual PCs in the cloud instead of physical PCs to each student. In this paper, we design and implement a Linux-based software practice platform that allows students to efficiently build their environments in the cloud. In our platform, instructors can create and control virtual machine templates for all students at once, and students practice on their own machines as administrators. Instructors can also troubleshoot each machine and restore its state. Meanwhile, the biggest obstacle to implementing this approach is the difficulty of predicting the costs of cloud services instantly. To cope with this situation, we propose a model that can estimate the cost of cloud resources used. By using daemons in each user's virtual machine, we instantly estimate resource usage and costs. Although our model has very low overhead, the predicted results are very close to the actual resource usage measured by cloud service providers. To further validate our model, we used the proposed platform in a Linux practice lecture for a semester and confirmed that the proposed model is very accurate.

  • This paper pertains to the embodiment of the CATV network devices, and Automatically Centralized device was embodied in order to solve the inefficiency of the existing passive device. The frequency bandwidth, which don't use the part of CATV on signal of video, using frequency bandwidth of the control and systemize in automatic distributive system, the communication which depends on two way of forward/backward communication and backward communication/materialize in the system of unification management of 9600bps using RS-232.

  • Very various infusion by development of systems that is based on network is spread. Therefore, Evaluation Tool has been an active research area to reduce the risk from intrusion. On this thesis, during threat assesment, we have planned possible an equal-weight applied assesment and considering the characteristics of the organization an assesment which security factor's weight is variably applied to, and respective organizations to examine its security by itself in order to support the easy findings of the vulnerabilities on the management point of view, and to show the advices to practice.

Improvement Plan for Planting Large Trees in Artificial Ground of the Apartment Complex (공동주택 인공지반 대형교목 식재 개선방안)

  • Large trees in the apartment complex are playing an important role to decide the quality of external environment. They are planted with the object of utilizing themselves as a landmark of the complex and enhancing space symbolism. Since planting large trees would require high maintenance costs and generate defect, it would cause decline in quality of external environment. This study researches on large trees in artificial ground of the apartment complex. This study analyzes actual condition of planting and tries to provide improvement direction of planting. In order to conduct this research, three target areas (over R30) and 265 trees are selected. Based on the drawings and specifications this study researches on the plan of landscape design, changes of field design, actual condition of completion, present condition of planting, minimum soil depth of growth and development and types of extra action for soil depth. The result shows that 85% of drawings and specifications for large trees in the apartment complex are deep-rooted tree species. On average large trees with R 35 are planted in artificial ground and there is lack of on average 65cm minimum soil depth of growth and development. Reviewing changes of field design is conducted in such limited size as mainly R30 and R40 and there is no extra plan for lack of soil depth. The plan for securing additional soil depth is done by 85% of mounding. However, since there is only 10% of satisfaction, the inappropriateness in securing additional soil is pointed out. This research also points out that the size of large trees, root characteristics and location-allocation for planting are pivotal factors for securing minimum soil depth of growth and development. This research also provides improvement direction in case of planning planting.

Effect of moisture content on terminal velocities of domestic wheat and foreign materials (함수율에 따른 우리밀과 이물의 종말속도에 미치는 영향)

  • This research was carried out to identify aerodynamic property as a function of moisture content for designing equipment such as for post-harvest management. Terminal velocity of two wheat varieties {Backjjung (B) and Jogyeong (J)} with selected sound, damaged kernel and foreign materials (Wheat stick, Wheat husks) were measured with a designed vertical wind column at different moisture contents from about 9 to 30% wet basis. The results showed that terminal velocity of wheat and foreign materials except of Jogyeong's husks (p<0.05) had a significant difference at p<0.001. With increasing moisture content, the aerodynamic property values of the kernels and foreign materials of the two wheat varieties increased linearly. In detail, terminal velocity of sound and damaged kernel increased from 5.46 to 7.13 m/sec (B) and 7.48 to 8.60 m/sec (J), damaged kernel from 5.91 to 7.00 m/sec (B) and 6.48 to 7.75 m/sec (J). For foreign materials the terminal velocity of wheat stick increased from 2.92 to 4.07 m/sec (B) and 3.74 to 5.22 m/sec (J) whereas that of husks from 1.07 to 1.85 m/sec (B) and 2.02 to 2.33 m/sec (J) each. For air separation of wheat and foreign materials, the air flow should be less than 5.22 m/sec due to the range (1.07~5.22 m/sec) of foreign materials in wheat.

MIPv6 Binding Update scheme to improve performance and security (성능과 보안성을 함께 개선한 MIPv6 바인딩 갱신)

  • Binding update for the routing optimization in MIPv6 can make the involved nodes vulnerable to various attacks. Therefore, secure binding update becomes an important research issue in MIPv6, and several protocols have been proposed for this purpose. In this paper, we compare several existing binding update protocols such as RR, SUCV and OMIPv6 and analyze the vulnerability of nodes to the possible attacks and drawbacks of address management and scalability and overhead of encryption operations. Then, we suggest the design requirements for the secure binding update and propose an advanced protocol based on the design principle. Through the analysis, we show that our protocol can achieve a higher level of security against the various attacks and enable better management of address, provide the location privacy and reduce the computational overhead of mobile nodes with constraint computational power.

  • 스마트아이 기술은 기존의 재난 감시 및 관리 서비스가 사람에 의한 단순 모니터링 기반의 대응을 제공하는 데 비해, 무인기를 활용해 사람의 사각에서 발생하는 재난 상황을 촬영하여 감시 및 분석을 하며, 무인기에 탑재된 다중 복합 센서 데이터의 실시간 처리 분석을 통해 국지적 산불 재난의 감지 예측 및 상황대응을 지원하고, 통합경보 시스템과 연동하여 대국민 재난 정보 전달 서비스 제공하는 서비스이다. 현재 본 서비스를 제공할 수 있는 Front to End 시스템이 개발 완료되어 실험실 테스트를 진행하였으며, 이와 더불어 실제 필드에서의 재난 감시 및 예측 성능을 검증하기 위한 필드 테스트를 준비 중에 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 현재 구축하고 있는 스마트아이 재난 관리 플랫폼 실험실 테스트의 진행상황을 간단히 소개하고, 재난 영상의 획득, 분석, 및 예측을 수행하는 통합 플랫폼의 주요 기능들에 대해서 논한다.
