The Distribution of phosphorus in the Gomso Bay Tidal Flat (곰소만 조간대에서 인의 시공간적 분포)

  • The temporal and spatial distributions of phosphorus have been investigated in the Gomso Bay, Korea. TP, PIP, TOP and DIP in sediment were found 548.8mg P kg$^{-1}$ , 426.1mg P kg$^{-1}$ , 122.6mg P kg$^{-1}$ , and 0.217mg P kg$^{-1}$ , respectively with a decreasing order of PIP>TOP>DIP. Any temporal or spatial trend has not been found on the distribution of TP in the sediment, except the high TP values near the mouth of Julpo-chun. We found seasonal patterns high TOP(28.90% of TP) and low TIP(71.10% of TP) in August, but low TOP(15.63% of TP) and high TIP(84.38% of TP) in November. There were three times higher DIP concentration in August than in November. Such case is probably not only due to the enhanced supply of DIP directly from the decomposition of organic matter from overlying water in summer, but also the released phosphate from the adsorbed particulate matter such as PIP under the low pH and Eh conditions at the subsurface layers of the sediment induced by the active microbial respiration of increased organic materials in summer. Primarily, the source of phosphorous from municipal sewage strongly influenced the early stage of the distribution of all the phosphorous in the Gomso tidal flat. Notwithstanding, through the processes of diagenesis in sediment, water temperature and organic contents probably functioned as the key parameters to control the temporal distributions of TOP, TIP and DIP in the Gomso tidal flat.

Suspended Sediment Transport Characteristics in the Estuary with Significant Shallow Water Tides and Tidal Flat (천해조 및 조간대가 발달된 하구에서의 부유사이동 특성)

  • The characteristics of suspended sediment transport are analyzed at the estuaries which show significant shallow water tides, following the previous research for bottom sediment transport at the same estuaries. Several theories which are related with the formation and transition of turbidity maximum are reconfirmed by the numerical experiments. The experiments suggest the necessity of modeling the shallow water tide as a boundary condition, as was also suggested for the bed sediment transport at the previous research. Both the differences of transport characteristics between bed and suspended sediment and the differences between flood/ebb dominances and high/low water dominances are also examined at the Keum River and Youngsan River estuaries. In addition, the transport of bed and suspended sediments are found to have the opposite directions at the Youngsan River estuary which has extensive tidal flat, and thus shows pronounced ebb dominance, which is considered to be a main reason of keeping present bathymetry.

Numerical Simulation of Surge - Wave Combined Inundation at Mokpo North Harbor (목포 북항에서 풍파에 의한 해수범람의 수치 모의)

  • Tidal amplification by construction of sea-dike and sea-walls had been detected not only near Mokpo North Harbor but also at Chungkye Bay which is connected with Mokpo North Harbor by a narrow channel. This brings about increase of tidal flat area and in particular increase of runup height and inundation area during storms. In this study, a simulation process is composed of wind wave generation model for large area and wave inundation model for small coastal zone. The nonlinear version of mild-slope equation is modified for simulating wind-driven surge and wave inundation at a small area. The models are applied to Chungkye Bay, and possible inundation features at Mokpo North Harbor are investigated.

  • 영산강하구언과 영암 및 금호방조제 건설에 의해 목포해역에서는 조석확폭현상이 발생하여 만조위가 상승함에 따라 저지대에 침수피해를 야기시킨 바 있다. 이는 목포구의 'tidal choking effect' 기능이 상실됨에 기인한다는 결론을 선행인구(강주환, 1996)에서 얻은 바 있다. 본 인구에서는 선행연구에 비해 전체 영역이 확대되었으며 격자크기가 작아졌을 뿐 아니라 관심영역에는 세부역을 도입하여 더욱 세밀한 격자체계를 구성하였다. 이에 따라 조간대 처리가 한층 정밀해졌으며, 천해조 경계조건 부여와 함계 낙조우세를 실제에 가깝게 재현시킬 수 있게 되었다. 또한 방조제 건설후 낙조우세가 심화되는 자정을 모의할 수 있게 됨에 따라 소류사 이동양상의 변화된 패턴 역시 파악할 수 있었으며, 만조위 상승에 따른 침식유발 효과와 더불어 인근 해역의 침식 원인을 부분적으로 규명할 수 있었다.

  • A depth-averaged X-Y numerical model with transformed coordinates is developed to analyze the salinity dispersion in estuaries. Simulation of intertidal zones, residual current and closed boundary condition are examined. Especially. the improvements in stability and accuracy of the numerical algorithm are made by adopting fractional step method for the dispersion term of the governing equation. The model being applied to the Keum River Esturary, velocity fields and salinity fields are reproduced satisfactorily and the estimation of the dispersion coefficient with respect to the flow fold is also studied.

  • The under developing estuarial port Bupsung is bounded by a river and the sea, and has several well developed tidal lands, where the littoral drift is strong due to the tide and the river discharge. The study area is located at the inner part of a concave bay and has a large tidal range due to the water discharge through the Watan-chun and Junnam-dike. In beginning stage of the ocean physical impact study, the tidal modeling is very important and difficult especially in this area. Moreover, we need a model experiment after the verification of the formulated model based on ocean survey. In this study, we constructed a numerical model to the Bupsung port coastal boundaries, which varies with the past and future development and made simulation with it. The result after development shows that there is a decrease of velocity on flood current and a increase on Ebb current and the minor variation of the tide level, compared with before development.

Species Composition and Vertical Distribution Pattern of Fish in Rock Tidal Pools at Mohang, Taeanhaean National Park (태안해안국립공원 모항 암반조간대 웅덩이의 어류 종조성과 수직분포)

  • Speceis composition and distribution by altitude of fish in the rock tide pools in Taean were determined using montly samples collected in the 9 tide pools from January to December 2010. Among 16 species collected, a forktongue goby Chaenogobius annularis was dominant accounting for 34.6% in the total number of individuals, and followed by Dictysoma burgeri (22.0%), Sebastes schlegelii (6.9%) and Tridentiger trigonocephalus (6.8%). A resident fish Dictyosoma burger occurred at all tide pools, and Chasmichthys dolichognathus was dominant in the upper tide pools and was collected throughout the study period. The resident fish is more abundant than the transient fish and occasional fish accounted for 61.4%, 14.2% and 24.4% in biomass, respectively.

  • 현재 곰소만에는 크고 작은 111개의 바지락 양식장 (98년 기준)이 허가되어 있는 곳으로 우리나라 바지락 총생산의 약 30%를 차지하는 대표적인 바지락 생산지이다. 그런데 곰소만의 경우, 바지락 양식장의 모든 위치는 만의 중앙부를 기준으로 모두 동쪽에 분포하고 있다. 이러한 사실은 바지락 양식장이 어떤 지형적 특징에 의존하고 있음을 시사한다 (이 등, 2001). 본 연구에서는 곰소만의 지형 특징을 토대로 그곳에서의 퇴적작용을 이해한 후, 지형적으로 구분되는 대표적인 곳에서 중형저서생물인 하르팍티쿠스 요각류의 분포를 조사하여 바지락형성 장소의 지형학적ㆍ생물학적 특성을 고찰하였다. Prediction of Tidal Changes and Contaminant Transport Due to the Development of Incheon Coastal Zone (인천해역 개발에 따른 조석변화 및 오염물질 운송 예측)

  • A horizontal 2-D model which includes the wetting-drying treatment technique in the intertidal zone is established for the prediction of tidal changes and contaminant transport due to the development of Incheon coastal zone. The flow model is verified by the measurement data at Jeong-Do, and then the computed values are closely matched to the observed water elevations and velocities of main-flow direction. And then, the tidal change patterns are simulated using this model before and after the construction of the Youngjongdo New Airport and Shihwa Seadike. In the spring tide condition, pollutants transport pattern is also simulated for the arbitrary pollutants loads. By the analysis of this numerical simulation results, the velocities after development are decreased, and discharged pollutants are mainly transported by the advection along a narrow deep trough. Thus, this model can be used as the compatible prediction model for the tidal change and pollutant transport due to the development plan of Incheon coastal zone.

  • 본 연구에서는 2003년 태풍 'MAEMI'에 의해 피해를 가장 많이 입은 경남 마산시를 중심으로 폭풍해일 범람도를 작성하였다. 해양과 하천 하류부가 만나는 마산시에서는 해일, 조석, 하천을 동시에 고려해야 하므로 이에 대한 단계적 적용을 통해 범람 중첩효과를 검토하였다. 본 연구에 사용된 수치모델은 네덜란드 Deltares사에서 개발한 준3차원 해수유동 모델 Delft3D이다. Delft3D는 폭풍해일 이외 지진해일, 부유물 이송, 오염물 확산 등 다양한 분야에 적용 가능하며, 파랑, 조석력, 바람에 의한 전단력, 온도, 염도에 의한 밀도류, 대기압 변화, 조간대 모의 등 다양한 영향을 고려할 수 있다. 수치모의시 모델의 안정성과 효율성을 높이기 위해 다중격자기법을 사용(최소 25m 격자)하였으며, 수심 자료는 국토지리정보원 수치지도와 국립해양조사원 수치해도의 수평 수직적 통합을 통해 구성하였다. 태풍 'MAEMI'의 Best Track은 기상청에서 제공하는 3시간 간격의 중심기압, 풍속, 중심위치를 Holland's Model에 적용하여 계산하였다. 조석효과를 고려하기 위해 개방경계에서 TPXO 7.2를 사용한 분조값을 입력하였다. 또한 하천의 흐름을 효과적으로 구현하기 위해 하천 단면에서의 동적 수위경계조건(또는 유량경계조건)을 추가적으로 부여하였다. 수치해석결과, 마산 수위 관측소에서 관측된 태풍 'MAEMI'의 해일고와 유사한 결과가 산출되었다. 범람역 해석결과는 해일, 조석, 하천을 동시적으로 고려하였을 경우에 실제 침수흔적도인 마산시재해침수지도와 가장 유사한 결과를 보였다.
