The synergistic solvent extraction effect of europium and yttrium using the hexanoic acid -crown ether system (Hexanoic acid - crown ether system을 이용한 europium과 yttrium의 용매추출효과의 향상)

  • The synergistic solvent extraction of rare earth elements such as europium and yttrium has been investigated by the extractant with crown ether as an additive. Macrocyclic ligand as host-guest compounds form more stable complexes with metal ions which have the similar size of the cavity of crown ether. In our previous study[14] founded that the extraction used fatty acid of the various alkyl chain length. Based on the results of the previous experiment, the synergistic separation effect of two metals investigated that the hexanoic acid had was the worst extraction effect which added a crown ether such as 18-crown-6 ether, 15-crown-5 ether, and 12-crown-4 ether. In this study, the concentrations of hexanoic acid have showed the separation effect, and then the concentrations and kind of crown ether are performed for synergistic extraction at the hexanoic acid concentration of the highest separation effect. As a results, the separation rate is the highest value of 1.72 at 0.05 M hexanoic acid, and 0.002M 15-crown-5 ether is the best value in other concentrations and kind of crown ether, it is about twice of using only hexanoic acid. Moreover, the extraction species of two metals has been founded $MLR_3{\cdot}3RH$ form when added the crown ether.

Antioxidant Activities of Stachys sieboldii MIQ Roots (초석잠(Stachys sieboldii MIQ) 뿌리 추출물의 항산화 활성 고찰)

  • The root of Stnchys Sieboldif MIQ was extracted three times with methanol and extract was found to contain 3.02% of polyphenols and 1.97% of flavonoids. DPPH radical scavenging method, ferric thiocyanate method, and nitrite scavenging ability method were employed to investigate the constituents of the extract and to measure their activity on antioxidation. The fraction extracted by ethylacetate showed higher anti oxidation value than that of $\alpha-tocopherol$, butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA), and butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) at the same concentration. UV-VIS spectral data of the extract by ethylacetate that was isolated on a silica gel column proved adsorption maxima in the range of 280∼330 nm. The fraction ES-RS that has $\lambda_{max}(nm)$ of band 1, 325nm and band II, 289nm exhibitd the strongest activity on antioxidation. ES-R5 fraction showed similar pattern to flavones by the analysis of UV-VIS spectral data.

  • Polymers with photosensitive functional groups, the naphthoquinone-1,2-diazide-5-sulfonyl esters(PGND, BEND and PVAND) of polyglyceryl phthalate(PG), bisphenol A-epichlorohydrin polycondensate(BE) and polyvinyl alcohol(PVA), were prepared. The molecular weights of the starting materials were determined by the cryoscopic method, i.e., in the range of 650${\sim}$1200 for PG and 780${\sim}$1320 for BE, PGND, BEND and PVAND were prepared by esterification of PG, BE and PVA with naphthoquinone-1,2-diazidie-5-sulfonyl chloride, and the replacements of such a functional groups were confirmed by the infrared absorption spectra and elemental analyses. The good agreement between the observed values of elemental analyses (PGND, BEND and PVAND) and the calculated values, indicated that the degree of polymerization did not change in the course of esterification of PG, BE and PVA.

  • Palladium(II) complexes of the type Pd(IEAA-NR)$_2$ (R = H, CH$_3$, C$_2$H$_5$, n-C$_3$H$_7$, n-C$_4$H$_9$, or CH$_2$C$_6$H$_5$), where IEAA-NR represents N-alkyl derivative of isonitrosoethylacetoacetate (H-IEAA) imine, have been prepared. And the structure of the complexes have been studied by elemental analyses, electronic, infrared, $^1$H and $^{13}$C-NMR spectra. It is proposed that both of IEAA-NR ligands coordinate to metal through nitrogens of imine and isonitroso groups to form 5-membered chelate rings in the complexes.

  • Phthalate plasticizers are regulated by RoHS, REACH and CPSC as hazardous substances. Responding to these international environmental restrictions, we developed ABS certified reference material (CRM) for determination of phthalate plasticizers such as DMP, DEP, DBP, BBP, DEHP and DnOP. The candidate material has been made with ABS resin widely used in electric and electronic products and 6 kinds of phthalate plasticizers. The making of the material involved a series of processes like extruding, cooling, pelletizing, and drying using twin screw extruder. Then it has been certified according to ISO Guide 35. Using isotope dilution-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (ID-GC/MS), homogeneity, short-term stability, and long-term stability were evaluated. The certified values were determined by using primary reference material (PRM) of KRISS for traceability. From now on, we will provide ABS CRM to national and international companies and research institutes after certification as certified reference material and registering on COMAR (code of reference material).

The Synthesis and MR Properties of New Macromolecular MR Contrast Agent (새로운 거대분자 MR 조영제의 합성 및 MR 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose : To evaluate the NMR relaxation properties and imaging characteristics of tissue-specificity for a newly developed macromolecular MR agent. Materials and methods : Phthalocyanine (PC) was chelated with paramagnetic ion, Mn.2.01g (5.2 mmol) of Phthalocyanine was mixed with 0.37g (1.4 mmol) of Mn chloride at $310^{\circ}C$ for 36 hours and then purified by chromatography (CHC13/CH3OH 98/2 v/v, Rf, 0.76) to obtain 1.04g (46%) of MnPC (molecular weight= 2000d). The $T1}T2$ relaxivity of MnPC was measured in 1.5T(64 MHz) MR using 0.1 mM MnPC. The MR image characteristics of MnPC was evaluated using spin-echo (TR/TE=500/14 msec) and gradient-echo (FLASH) (TR/TE=80/4 msec, flip angle=60) techniques in 1.57 MR scanner. The images of rabbit liver were obtained every 10 minutes up to 4 hours. To study the effect of concentration on image, 20 mM, 50 mM, 100 mM of MnPC were tested. Results : The relaxivities of MnPC at 1.5T(64MHz) were Rl=7.28 $mM^{-1}S^{-1},{\;}R2=55.56mM^{-1}S^{-1}$. Compared to the values of Gd-DTPA (Rl[=4.8 $mM^{-1}S^{-1})$], R2[=5.2 $mM^{-1}S^{-1}])$]), both T1/T2 relaxivities of MnPC were higher than those of Gd-DTPA. For both of SE and FLASH techniques, the contrast enhancement reached maximum at 10 minutes after bolus injection and the enhancement continued for more than 2 hours. When compared with small molecular weight liver agents such as Gd-EOB-DTPA, Gd-BOPTA and MnDPDP, MnPC was characterized by more prolonged enhancement time. The time course of MR images also revealed biliary excretion of MnPC. Conclusion : We developed a new macromolecular MR agent, MnPC. The relaxivities of MnPC were higher than those of small molecular weight Gd-chelate. Hepatic uptake and biliary excretion of MnPC suggests that this agent is a new liver-specific MR agent.

  • Chlorella ellipsoidea cells were cultured in an iron, copper, zinc, manganese, molybdenum or boron-free medium. Physiological activities such as growth rate, reproduction, endogenous and glucose respiration, photosynthetic activity and biosythesis of chlorophyll of the micro-element definition cells were measured. It generally, growth rate, respiratory and photosynthetic activities, and biosynthesis of chlorophyll of the micro-element deficient cells decreased more or less, compared with those of the normal cells. The growth of the algal cells in an iron-free medium were retarded severely with the chlorosis, and the photosynthetic activity of the cells decreased remarkably even though the low content of chlorophyll in the cells owing to the iron-deficiency is considered. Therefore, it is deduced that iron takes part in the photosynthetic process itself, possibly by its participation in the photo phosphorylation coupled with electron transport. Respiratory activity of boron-deficient cells showed the most severe decrease whereas those of the molybdenum-deficient cells showed very slight decrease in spite of severe growth retardation.

  • 본 연구에서는 양이온 교환반응에 의해 Na-Mont와 R$_{11}$SO$_4$로부터 R$_{11}$SO$_4$-Mont 층간화합물을 합성한 후, 이 R$_{11}$SO$_4$-Mont 층간화합물을 다시 제 4차 유기 양이온인 (Et)$_4$N$^{+}$ 이온 및 (Bu)$_4$N$^{+}$ 이온과 반응시켜 그 거동을 살펴보았다. R$_{11}$SO$_4$-Mont를 (Et)$_4$N$^{+}$이온과 반응시켰을 대보다 (Bu)$_4$N$^{+}$ 이온과 반응시킨 경우에 좀 더 큰 층간거리가 얻어졌다. R$_{11}$SO$_4$-Mont를 (Et)$_4$N$^{+}$이온 및 (Bu)$_4$N$^{+}$과 반응시켜 얻은 층간화합물을 다시 아세토니트릴, 에탄올 및 디옥산과 팽윤반응을 수행한 결과 층간거리가 확장되었으나, 이는 Na-Mont를 R$_{11}$SO$_4$와 48시간 교환 반응시킨 후에 교환용액 하에서 얻은 R$_{11}$SO$_4$-Mont의 층간거리에 불과했다. 원소분석결과, R$_{11}$SO$_4$-Mont와 (Bu)$_4$N$^{+}$를 반응시킬 경우 반응이 반응식 b에 의거 진행되고, (Bu)$_4$N-Mont를 R$_{11}$SO$_4$와 반응시킬 경우에는 반응식 c에 의거 진행됨을 예측할 수 있었다.의거 진행됨을 예측할 수 있었다.

Thermal stability enhancement of silicide by kinetic modifications (Kinetics 수정에 의한 실리사이드의 열적 안정성 향상에 대한 연구)

  • In this study, we investigated the mechanism responsible for the thermal stability of CoSi by addition of a foreign chemical element. Addition of W was found to increase the heat of formation of CoSi. This increase was claimed to inhibit the glass formation, which is preferred by silicide formation kinetics depicted by the maximum system energy degradation rate. In this case, there forms at the interface between CoSi and Si wafer a crystalline structure, the effective diffusion coefficient of which is much less than the self-diffusion rate provided by the glass. It was stated that the phase transition requires a higher thermal energy as the consequence, thereby enhancing the thermal stability of CoSi.

  • The polymeric compound [{Mo(NO)_2Cl_2}n] was prepared by reductive nitrosylation of NaNO_2 and acidified FeSO_4 with MoCl_5. The reactions of [{Mo(NO)_2Cl_2}n] with unidentate and bidentate ligands afforded neutral monomeric $[Mo(NO)_2Cl_2L_2(or L-L)] in high yield (80∼90%). 3,5-Lutidine, {\gamma}-Cyanopyridine, 1,2-Phenylenediamine, 1,10-Phenanthroline, sym-Diphenylethylenediamine, 9,10-Phenanthrenequinone, 1,3-Bis(diphenylphosphino)propane and 8-Hydroxyquinoline were used as coordinating ligands. The preparation and characterization of these dinitrosylmolybdenum complexes by elemental analysis, 1H NMR, infrared, and UV-Visible spectroscopy are reported. The infrared spectra indicate that in all of the compounds prepared, the NO groups occupy cis-positions in the octahedral group of ligands.
