The purpose of this research was to figure out how technology management activities are needed to survive in a rapidly changing business environment and how technology management activities affect company performance. First, Hypothesis 1 was partially adopted that Technology management activities will have a positive influence on management outcomes. Second, Hypothesis 2 was partially adopted that Innovation activities of firms will have mediating effects on the relationship between technology management activities and management outcomes. If the research subjects are expanded nationwide and divided into manufacturing industry, non - manufacturing industry, small and medium enterprise and large enterprise, it will be meaningful from academic point of view and practical point of view.
This study investigates the innovation resistance when blockchain technology is introduced for the shipping and port industry. For the development of a research model with suitable measures, we review and focus on innovation resistance factors with the blockchain technology derived from previous studies. In this research, we consider four factors (innovation characteristics, consumer characteristics, environmental characteristics, and cost characteristics) with innovation resistance as dependent variables. The innovation characteristics include relative benefits, complexity, and perceived risk. The consumer characteristics consider attitude toward existing products, innovation, and self-efficacy. Social impact variables are environmental characteristics and rationality of cost. In the statistical analysis, we set up eight hypotheses to test the significances between variables and find the following four empirical results. First, the relative advantage and the perceived risk have a significant effect on innovation characteristic, but the complexity of this characteristic has no significant effect on innovation resistance. Second, the rationality of cost has no significant effect on innovation resistance. Third, the attitude toward existing products has a positive effect and the innovation of the consumer characteristic has a negative effect on innovation resistance, while the self-efficacy has no significant effect. Finally, the social impact has a significant effect on innovation resistance to blockchain in the shipping and port industry.

There have been many studies to examine the patterns in innovations reflecting industry-specific characteristics from an evolutionary economics perspective. The purpose of this study is to identify industry-specific differences in product innovation patterns and determinants of innovation performance. For this, Korean manufacturing is classified into high-tech industries and low-tech industries according to technology intensity. It is also pointed out that existing research does not reflect the decision-making process of firms' R&D implementations. In order to solve this problem, this study presents a Heckman sample selection model and a double-hurdle model as alternatives, and analyzes data from 1,637 firms in the 2014 Survey on Technology of SMEs. As a result, it was confirmed that the determinants and patterns of manufacturing in small and medium-size enterprise (SME) product innovation are significantly different between high-tech and low-tech industries. Also, through an extended empirical model, we found that there exist a sample selection bias and a hurdle-like threshold in the decision-making process. In this study, the industry-specific features and patterns of product innovation are examined from a multi-sided perspective, and it is meaningful that the decision-making process for manufacturing SMEs' R&D performance can be better understood.
Firms must focus on innovative activities via R&D investment in order to secure competitive advantage and sustainable growth. However, their innovative activities do not always result in successful outcomes and are often obstructed by uncertainty and non-appropriability of technology being developed and by insufficient internal resources and capabilities to tap into it. In this situation, collaboration with external partners can be a part of good alternative strategy to solve those problems. This paper aims to analyze what factors lead to Korean manufacturing companies’ decision to collaborate with external partners for technology innovation. For empirical analysis, we used the Korean Innovation Data compiled by STEPI, government-funded research institute in Korea. The research findings are: 1) firms tend to participate in external collaboration for product innovation with greater firm size, more past collaboration experiences and when they belong to high-tech industries 2) unlike our expectation, our chosen ‘innovation-impeding’ factors are found not to contribute to the enhancement of collaboration for product innovation.
This study aims to analyze the network structure of technological innovation resources in SMEs, especially manufacturing firms, and reveal the differences between innovative and non-innovative firms. The study first analyzes connection centrality, flow-mediated centrality, and power centrality for all firms, and derives structural equivalence through CONCOR analysis. Then, the network structure of innovative and non-innovative firms was compared and analyzed according to innovation performance and creation. The results show that entrepreneurship and corporate innovation strategy have a significant impact on the analysis of technological innovation resources of all firms. According to the CONCOR analysis, the innovation resources of SMEs are organized into seven clusters, which can be defined as intrinsic product innovation resources, competitive advantage promotion resources, cooperative activities resources, information system resources, and innovation protection resources. The network analysis of innovative and non-innovative firms showed that innovative firms focused on enhancing competitiveness and improving quality, while non-innovative firms tended to focus more on existing products and customers. In addition, innovative firms had eight clusters, while non-innovative firms had six clusters, suggesting that innovative firms utilize resources diversely to pursue structural change and new value creation, while non-innovative firms operate technological innovation resources in a more stable form. This study emphasizes the importance of entrepreneurship and corporate innovation strategy in SMEs' technological innovation, and suggests that strong internal efforts are needed to increase innovativeness. These findings have important implications for strategy formulation and policy development for technological innovation in SMEs.
This paper attempts to explore the impact of technological regulation on technological innovation and performance of Small and Medium Enterprises(SMEs) by analysing a survey data of 286 Korean SMEs. The 3-step mediated regression analysis results reveal that the perceived regulatory burden is negatively associated with SMEs' R&D investment and innovation of product and process. Moreover, the level of regulatory burden may affect the objective and subjective performance of SMEs. The results suggest that regulatory policies for reducing regulatory burden need to be designed and implemented in order to enhance technological innovation and performance of SMEs.

This study conducted an exploratory study to derive the success factors of entrepreneurial marketing for startups. Through Delphi analysis, we derived the items of proactive orientation, risk management, innovation, opportunity driven, resource leveraging, customer intensity, value creation, price setting, marketing communication, channel management, product development, sales and marketing information management. The importance and execution of success factors were measured through IPA analysis. The first quadrant(keep up the good work) has proactive orientation, risk management, resource leveraging, customer intensity. The second quadrant(concentrate here) has innovation. The third quadrant(low priority) has channel management, sales, marketing information management. The fourth quadrant(possible overkill) has prices setting, product development. These results showed that the success factors of startup's entrepreneurial marketing were proactive orientation, risk management, innovation, opportunity driven, resource leveraging, customer intensity and value creation.

This study investigates the influence of the innovativeness of consumers on extended products in brand extensions. 300 surveys were distributed and 283 were used in the final analysis. The results of this study show that consumers evaluate similar product category (i.e., sportswear) better than a dissimilar category (i.e., cosmetics) in brand extension. In addition, innovative consumers evaluated extended product better regardless of similarity with the original brand. The results showed that consumers with higher level of innovativeness were less likely to evaluate differently between a similar product and dissimilar product categories in apparel brand extension.
Convergence products, which perform multiple functions, are gaining popularity in the marketplace these days. Unfortunately, however, little research to date has been conducted as to how consumers evaluate such products. The present research, based on the existing literature regarding the innovation resistance and product bundling, examines the factors influencing consumer responses to convergence products. The results of the study reveal that consumer evaluations and purchase intentions are affected by consumer perceptions of risk (emotional and functional), convenience, product complementarity and relative advantage as well as consumer individual differences measured by technographics. Implications of the results for marketers and future research are discussed.
