Software used in safety-critical system must have high dependability. Software testing and V&V (Verification and Validation) activities are very important for assuring high software quality. If we can predict the risky modules of safety-critical software, we can focus testing activities and regulation activities more efficiently such as resource distribution. In this paper, we classified the estimated risk class which can be used for deep testing and V&V. We predicted the risk class for each module using support vector machines. We can consider that the modules classified to risk class 5 and 4 are more risky than others relatively. For all classification error rates, we expect that the results can be useful and practical for software testing, V&V, and activities for regulatory reviews.
This paper presents an alternative decomposition technique to identify the relative importance of factors associated with changes in $CO_2$ emissions by using directional distance function to model the joint production of desirable and undesirable outputs. The key feature of the proposed approach is the introduction of fossil and non-fossil fuel energy input efficiencies, productivity change and emission intensity change. For the 27 OECD countries as a whole, the empirical results indicate that economic growth is the most important contributor to $CO_2$ emissions increase, while efficiency change is the most important component to $CO_2$ emissions reduction between 1980 and 2007. For more extensive insights, this paper divided 3 groups according to the emission growth rate and find out that high emission countries show relatively low production efficiencies and technical changes contributing $CO_2$ emissions increase. The results also provide that more strict environmental regulations are needed to improve the pollution intensity in these countries.
A simple design method for rib-reinforced seismic steel moment connections has been recently proposed based on the equivalent strut model. An experimental program was implemented to verify the proposed design method, as well as develop the schemes that will prevent cracking at the rib tip where stress concentration was evident. All specimens designed using the proposed method were able to develop a satisfactory connection plastic rotation of 0.04 radian. In addition to rib reinforcement, slight beam flange trimming pushed the plastic hinging and local buckling of the beam away from the rip tip and effectively reduced cracking potential at the rib tip. Using strain gage readings, the strut action of the rib and resulting reverse shear in the beam web were also experimentally identified.

The purpose of this study is that the low-cost mobile mapping system using INS (Inertial Navigation System) based on MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical System) could decipher the interpretation of road facility with the accuracy of x, y 0.546m plane error. Even though the MMS (Mobile Mapping System) technology as a new measurement technology has been used vividly to set up geographic information by some world leading surveying equipment manufacturers, the domestic technology is still in its beginning stage. Several domestic institutes and companies tried to catch up the leading technology but they just produced prototypes which needs more stabilization. Through this thesis, we developed low-cost mobile mapping system installed with INS based on MEMS after time synchronizing sensors for MMS such as LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging), CCD (Charge Coupled Device), GPS/INS (Global Positioning System / Inertial Navigation System) and DMI (Distance Measurement Instrument).

An electric point-machine which changes over a turnout so that it enables a train to be operated in the routine that a train is to proceed has been installed and used in most of the railways such as not only urban railways but also main-line railways. Most of the maintenance works in this electric point-machine is that the maintenance workers manually measure motor power, control power and display power in the site with the use of portable counters. Especially in case of NS or NS-AM electric point machine, the maintenance cycle is so frequent that during the operation casualty accidents caused by carelessness occurs as well as more staff is required for this measurement. In this paper we propose a system for monitoring the state of electric point machine installed in the site to improve maintenance efficiency and it is expected that this monitoring system confirms any measured values on electric point machines in real-time and improves maintenance efficiency.

In this paper, we have designed and implemented an optical signal processor in order to use in a fiber-optic current CT for electric equipments where its properties were discussed. The fabricated optical signal processor is used to reduce a measurement current error that induced by the effects of intensity variation in the optical output signal due to losses coming from optical components or polarization variation in a PFOCS. Also, the optical signal processor was fabricated in compact/lightweight with unification of opto-electronic transducer part, analog signal process part, and real-time measurement part consisted of a level shift and ${\mu}-processor$. The experiment of optical signal processor has been performed in the range of $0{\sim}7,500A$ using the PFOCS made all fiber-optic components. As a result of experiment, the linearity error of measurement current is less than 1.7% and its average error is less than 0.3% in the range of $1,000A{\sim}7,000A$.
In this paper, we propose a synthesis method of software fault tree from software requirements specification written in NuSCR formal specification language. The software fault tree, proposed in this paper, reflects requirements on both structure and behavior and it is an integrated form. The software fault tree can be used for analyzing safety in the view of structure and behavior. We propose templates for each components in NuSCR specification language and a synthesis method of software fault tree using the templates. The research was applied into the main trip logic of the reactor protection system of ARP1400, the Korean next generation nuclear reactor system, developed by KNICS. And we evaluate feasibility of our approach through this case study.
As many seismic codes for various facilities are changed into a performance based design code, demand for a reliable nonlinear response-history analysis (RHA) arises. However, the equivalent linear analysis has been used as a standard approach since 1970 in the field of site response analysis. So, the reliability of nonlinear RHA should be provided to be adopted in replace of equivalent linear analysis. In this paper, the reliability of nonlinear RHA is reviewed for a layered soil layer using Loma Prieta earthquake records in 1989. For this purpose, the appropriate way for selecting nonlinear soil models and the effect of base boundary condition for 3D analysis are evaluated. As a result, there is no significant differences between equivalent linear and nonlinear RHA. In case of 3D analysis, absorbing boundary condition should be applied at base to prevent rocking motion of the whole model.

The IEEE 1394 protocol is a de facto standard in multimedia digital home network. It supports several advanced features such as hot plugging, dynamic network reconfiguration, isochronous transmission and so on. Since the IEEE 1394 was adapted in the field of multimedia service with QoS guarantee, back bone network protocol with reel-time digital instrumentation and control sub networks, and physical layer protocol for real-time middleware such as real-time CORBA, the additional real-time features has been required in device driver implementation because of the necessity of the predictability enhancement. To guarantee the real-time features, the device driver of the IEEE 1394 should support the priority based packet processing and also need a isochronous buffer management mechanism to deal with the periodic isochronous communication. In this paper, we proposed a new software architecture of the IEEE 1394 device driver for supporting the real-time characteristics such as priority based packet processing, priority based scheduling and so on.

One of the most important topics about the safety of electrical and electronic system is the reliability of the wiring system. The Time-Frequency Domain Reflectometry(TFDR) is a state-of-the-art system for detecting and estimating of the fault on a wiring. In this paper, We've considered the load resistance measurement on a coaxial cable using TFDR in a way of expanded application. The TFDR system was built using commercial Pci extensions for Instrumentation(PXI) and LabVIEW. The proposed real time TFDR system consisted of the reference signal design, signal generation, signal acquisition, algorithm execution and results display part. To implement real time system, all of the parts were programmed by the LabVIEW which is one of the graphical programming languages. Using the application software implemented by the LabVIEW, we were able to design a proper reference signal which is suitable for target cable and control not only the arbitrary waveform generator in the signal generation part but alto the digital storage oscilloscope in the signal acquisition part. By using the TFDR real time system with the terminal resistor on the target cable, we carried out load impedance measurement experiments. The experimental results showed that the proposed system are able not only to detect the location of impedance discontinuity on the cable but also to estimate the load resistance with high accuracy.
