  • GAIN in the US explained in its Pilot/Controller Collaboration Initiatives report that "pilots and air traffic controllers talk to each other all day long, but they rarely communicate." The starting point for the study was the question of whether differences in flight safety perceptions and culture between pilots and air traffic controllers, or other factors, could lead to mutual misunderstandings of procedures and instructions.   • The objectives of this paper are to investigate hunting, stock raising, sacrifice recorded in the oracle bone inscriptions of Shang Dynasty. I want to raise two basic questions. First, what were the functions of hunting, stock raising, sacrifice, which constructed the world of life in Shang Dynasty? Second, what were the relationships of gods, men, animals derived from them? These questions are brought up to how the commoners of Shang Dynasty build the world and perceive it. I adopted positively prevalent theories for answering those questions. I am particularly provided with Michael J. Puett's insightful remarks in this presentation. He criticizes the previous viewpoint that the relationships of gods and men in ancient China were harmonious and mutually respondent. According to him, in the ancient way of thinking of China the world of gods was full of whimsical and unpredictable power and also contained the risks, which led to disaster to the human world. So it is needed to be controled in a certain way. The sacrifice and the divination must have been instruments for controlling it in ancient China. In the same vein his arguments can be applied to the special connotations of hunting and stock raising, by the benefit of which I developed my own ideas in this paper. The conclusions are as follows. First, Shang dynasty tried to suppress the latent danger of two worlds. The nature represented by animals and the world of gods were respectively considered as the unknown domains, which is to threatening human life. Hunting, stock raising, sacrifice were the ways and means of controlling these two domains of power, which cause chaos in life. Second, the relationships among gods, men, animals had various functions and changed their status role, depending on the circumstances. Hunting and stock raising were important methods to domesticate animals with violence. In this domestication process animals became "victims" but animals are also to be the messengers to gods through being slain in the sacrifice. In this way animals are both inferior and superior to men and hold a unique status between gods and men.

  • The aims of this study is to investigate the trend of the attitude and behavior toward the inheritance of asset and ancestral rites among urban families. The aged were selected out of the continuing education center in Seoul for questionnaires to figure out the subjects above. The main results of this study are as follows: 1. For the attitude toward the inheritance of ancestral rites, it was positive for the eldest son or the one who inherited much asset or the religious organization to perform the ancestral rites. But it was negative for the married daughter or the adopted son to hold the ancestral rites. 2. For the inheritance behaviour of the ancestral rites, it is not common for the eldest son to inherit ancestral rites but common to perform it. 3. In the group who are positive to donate their property to society, it is common not to prefer the eldest son in inheriting property. In the group who are positive about preferring the eldest son in inheriting property, they preferred the eldest son in succession to an asset. 4. Most of sons, especially the eldest son, were preferred in inheriting asset and ancestral rites. And they were much more preferred in inheriting ancestral rites than asset.

  • U-Pb zircon age for the Hongjesa granite, in the northeast Yeongnam massif, was determined using LA-ICP-MS. We obtained upper intercept age of $2013^{+30}/_{-24}(2{\sigma})$ Ma, indicating Paleoproterozoic granitic magmatism together with the Buncheon and Pyeonghae granite gneisses of the region.

  • The objectives of this study were empirically to test the reformative model for Korean sacrificial rite and to investigate the effects of demographic variables. the survey was conducted by means of questionnaire with 600 persons located in Seoul. Womens'and mens'difference ; women were active 7ut men were passive 10. Age's difference ; excepting 30-40, the all generations were more reformative. 11. Number of brothers ; small number of brothers were more reformative than a many number. 12. Sacrificial manager or not , managers were conservative than persons were not managers.

Research on the Recognition of the Ritual Ceremony (제례의식의 인지도 조사연구)

  • This research was performed to identify the characteristics of the Korean rituals and to establish the desirable ritual culture. The recognition of the ritual culture was investigated by the general environmental factors such as gender, age, religion and education background. The rituals were generally recognized as positive. Some significant differences were shown according to religion, gender and residential area. To succeed the tradition of the preparation and the table-setting of ritual foods and to conduct the rituals by the descendants were recognized relatively high by the Buddhists and males living In Gyeongsangbuk-do. The degree of recognition of the method of table-setting of ritual foods was higher if one was married and older, with Buddhism and the oldest daughter-in-law in a family. As above, the culture of Korean rituals showed some differences according to the general environment and regions of the individual. The reason why regional differences were shown high was mainly because tradition and conservatism were maintained according to the unique regional thought and natural environment rather than impacts of the changes of times. That some differences were shown according to general environmental factors suggested that the traditional ritual culture was gradually changing according to the environmental changes in the modem times. Also, the recognition on the ritual culture were identified through investigations by general environmental factors such as gender, age, religion and education background.

  • Although the Chungmak village, Gyeokpo-ri, Buan-gun is a small seashore village, it's an important place that has the largest ancient maritime ritual sites in Korea. This 'Chungmak-dong Ritual Site'(5~6 century, Baekje of the Three-kingdom period) was located in the Dangsan forest of Black Pine (Pinus thunbergii) Colony, and that has a significant meaning concerned with Dangsan forest's origin. Chungmak village located in the Scenic Site # 13 named 'Chaeseokgang and Jeokbyeokgang coastal cliff in Buan', and have retained the Jeollabuk-do Tangible Cultural Property # 58 named 'Suseongdang', the Natural Monument # 123 named 'Machilus community in Gyeokpo-ri, Buan'. The 'Suseongdang Gaeyang Grandmother Dangsinje (Village Ritual)' which is Dangsan ritual has been held every year by village residents. The practical management of Suseongdang and Machilus community has been conducted by village residents. In this study, the landscape characteristics of the Dangsan forest were investigated including neighborhood elements such as Bibo forest, seashores, and farm fields. The conservation of cultural landscape was thought to be achieved by designating 'Protected Area of Sacred Natural Sites'. The Dangsan forest ought to be recognized for their valuable landscape characteristics. It should be managed as a protected area and a sacred natural sites in order to be registered as a World Cultural Heritage.

Metamorphism of the Hongjesa granite and the adjacent metasedimentary rocks(Magmatism and metamorphism of the Proterozoic in the northeastern part of Korea) (홍제사 화강암과 주변 변성퇴적암류의 변성작용 (한국 북동부지역의 원생대의 화성활동과 변성작용))

  • The Precambrian granite, and the Yuli group and the Hyeondong gneisss complex are studied to unravel the metamorphic history of the northeastern Sobaeksan massif. The Hongjesa granite, emplaced at 650-$700^{\circ}C$ and $3{\pm}1$ kbar, has been altered at 310-$568^{\circ}C$. Not only the chloritization of biotite but also the sericitization and saussuritization of plagioclase occur at the subsolidus stage. Biotites of the Hongjesa granite vary in their Al, Fe and Mg contents through dioctahedral and tschermakitic substitutions during the subsolidus stage. Secondary muscovites from biotite and feldspars are enriched in their Si and Mg+Fe contents through tschermakitic and trictahedral substitutuions. The metamorphic pressures and temperatures estimated from the Hyeondong gneiss complex are 3.6-6.6 kbar and 593-$718^{\circ}C$, respectively. Local migmatization producing the cordierite-bearing assemblage occurs in the Hyeondong gneiss complex. The Gibbs' method applied to the assemblage of garnet+biotite+plagioclase+quartz in banded gneiss suggests a complex P-T history of the Hyeondong gneiss complex.

An Analysis of the Economic Effects of the Pilot Project for Multiple-Purpose Utilization of Paddy Fields Focusing on Income and Welfare Changes (소득 및 후생 변화를 통한 농지범용화 시범사업의 경제적 효과 분석)

  • The food self-sufficiency rate of agricultural products in Korea, excluding rice, is around 20%, and the government is promoting various policies including a Multiple-Purpose Utilization of Paddy Fields project, to increase the self-sufficiency rate of major grains. The project for Multiple-Purpose Utilization of Paddy Fields is being promoted as a part of a program to create farmland infrastructure to facilitate the cultivation of crops other than rice in rice paddies, and pilot projects were started in four regions in 2020. The purpose of this study is to analyze the economic effects of the pilot project for Multiple-Purpose Utilization of Paddy Fields, and to propose policies to increase the effectiveness of the project. In order to analyze the economic effect, we estimated the change in farm income generated by switching from rice to other crops, and measured the effect of welfare change using the Equilibrium Displacement Model (EDM). As a result of the analysis, social welfare is expected to increase when the pilot project for Multiple-Purpose Utilization of Paddy Fields is implemented, and the income of the beneficiary farmers is also expected to improve compared to that of single-cropping when double-cropping is implemented. However, it was found that the economic feasibility of the project differs depending on the crops converted. Juksan-myeon, Gimje-si, which is an area where soybean production was successful, was analyzed from the viewpoint of increasing the economic feasibility of the pilot project. Their success factors were analyzed into four major factors: infrastructure, farming methods, education, and collaboration with local agricultural organizations. If such a success story can be utilized in the future project implementation process, it can contribute to the improvement of farm household income and national economic welfare.
