일산 1,000톤 규모로 재출범하는 제일제당 배합사료

  • 제일제당주식회사에서는 일산 700 ton 규모의 완전자동시설을 갖춘 인천배합사료 공장을 3월 준공하게 됨에 앞서 종전에 생산해 오던 $\lceil$풍년사료$\rfloor$의 이름을 $\lceil$제일 제당배합사료$\rfloor$로 바꿔 아름다운 포장으로 4월부터 사료의 시판에 들어가게 된다. 많은 양축가들의 관심과 기대속에 새로 발매되는 제일제당배합사료의 새로운 면모는 어떤 것인가. 제일제당주식회사의 곡물사업본부 책임자들과 일문일답으로 '모두가 원해온 좋은 사료'를 만들겠다는 각오와 약속을 들어본다.

Biological Hydrogen Production By Pre-treatment of Sugar Wastewater Using Acidic or Alkaline Chemicals (산·알칼리 전처리를 통한 제당 폐수의 생물학적 수소생산)

  • Characteristics of biological hydrogen production rate and organic acid under anaerobic fermentation process were investigated with sugar wastewater. Hydrogen production rate was higher with alkaline pre-treatment than acidic pre-treatment, resulting in 70% increment. An adequate supply of the nutrients (N or P) into raw sugar wastewater could increase hydrogen production rate. Carbohydrate degradation of the anaerobic fermentation process was not directly related with hydrogen production. Sugar wastewater with the addition of the nutrients shows 3 times higher B/A ratio than the raw sugar wastewater. B/A ratio of the wastewater with alkaline pre-treatment and nutrients addition was most higher than other samples, showing 4.02 of B/A ratio. Higher B/A ratio shows higher hydrogen production rate at each sample.

  • The concerns over obesity and obesity-related health problems are increasing as many consumers relate these health problems with sugar. The demand for sugar reduction is also rising and regulatory movement by governments including Korea is driven to reflect such demand. For the past decades, there have been diverse development and marketing of various sweeteners to substitute sucrose and high fructose corn syrup. Low caloric alternative sweeteners can be divided into high intensity sweeteners that have greater sweetness potency compared to sucrose, and low intensity sweeteners such as polyols, oligosaccharides and rare sugars that have less sweetness potency. This paper discusses representative low caloric alternative sweeteners, their market and trend.

  • Biohydrogen production and analysis of microbial community were attempted from the sugar manufacturing wastewater with anaerobic fermentation process. Addtion of nutrients ($N{\cdot}P$) into sugar manufacturing wastewater stimulates hydrogen production from 9.53 to $26.67m{\ell}$ $H_2/g$ COD. Butyric acid, acetic acid, lactic acid, and propionic acid were detected in the sample of the anaerobic fermentation process. Butyric acid/Acetic acid(B/A) ratio was increased 0.50 to 0.92 according to the nutrients addtion into the wastewater. Microbial community was analyzed as Clostridium sp. in the phylum of Firmicutes and Klebsiella sp., Erwinia sp., and enterobacter sp. of the class of $\gamma$-Proteobacteria. As the improvement of hydrogen production, Erwinia sp. was decreased and Klebsiella sp. was increased.
