A Comparative Study on the Mean Control Delay by Signalized Intersections by the Analysis Model (분석모형별 신호교차로 평균제어지체 비교·분석 연구)

  • The time delay is used as a major indicator of the level of traffic congestion on traffic crossroads. For this purpose, the Daechi Station intersection where traffic congestion occurs and the Yeongdong 5 Bridge intersection where the traffic condition is relatively good, and the average lag time based on the field survey with the lag time calculated various simulation programs. comparison of the average control delay of the field survey data the signal intersection analysis model the KHCS Dechi intersection 7.7 second / vehicle Young dong 5 bridge intersection 7.9 second / vehiclehe VISSIM showed a difference Dechi intersection 21.1 second / vehicle and Young dong 5 bridge intersection 8.1 second / vehiclehe T7F showed a difference Dechi intersection 3.3 second / vehicle and Young dong 5 bridge intersection 9.3 second / vehicle. Analyzing the same intersection proved that the results differed from one simulation model to another.

Postoperative Analgesic Effect of Intraarticular Bupivacaine or Morphine After Arthroscopic Knee Surgery (슬관절경 수술 후 관절강 내 주입한 Bupivacaine 및 Morphine이 통증에 미치는 영향)

  • Recent studies have shown that opiods can produce potent antinociceptive effects by interacting with opioid receptors in peripheral tissues. This study sougt to compare the effects of morphine with those of bupivacaine administered intraarticularly upon pain after arthroscopic knee surgery. In a ramdomized manner, 60 healthy patients received either morphine(3 mg in 20 ml NaCl ; n=20), bupivacaine(20 ml, 0.25% ; n=20) intraarticularly at the completion of surgery, and others were not administered(n=20) under general anesthesia after 1, 2, 4, 6, 12 and 24h of postoperative day, pain was assessed by a visual analogue pain scales, time to first analgesic use were recorded. Pain scores were significantly greater in the morphine group than two groups at 1h. From 4th until the end of the study period, pain scores were significantly greater in the bupivacaine group than in the other two group. Anagesic requirements were significantly greater in the morphine group than two groups at 1h but were significantly greater in the bupivacaine group than in the other groups throughout the remainder of the study period. The results suggest that intraarticular morphine produces an analgesic effect of delayed onset but of remarkably long duration.

  • In spite of continuous road construction, traffic congestion has been worsening by radical vehicle's increase and development of surroundings near expressway. Thus, the necessity of traffic management and the needs of provision of traffic information to drivers are raised. In order to solve traffic problems, such as traffic congestion, search for optimal congestion management technique and evaluation of the effect of optimal solution should be examined prior to practice of optimal alternative. However, existing traffic analysis model and simulation programs as tools to search and evaluate optimal alternative are not sufficient to reflect traffic flow characteristics, domestic road and traffic conditions and to link up to Freeway Traffic Management Systems (FTMS). Hence, to use existing traffic analysis and simulation tools are followed by hard work to need a lot of time and cost. Therefore, in this research, Expressway TRaffic Analysis Model (ExTRAM) based on Freeway Traffic Management Systems (FTMS) was developed to apply it into congestion management easily.

Agent-Based Evacuation Simulations of Road Tunnels in the Event of a Fire (도로터널 화재 시의 행위자 기반 대피 시뮬레이션)

  • The purpose of this study is to reveal the effects of the number of users and their spatial distribution on the evacuation time in a road tunnel in the event of a fire. An agent-based evacuation model was implemented using Netlogo following the ODD protocol. The proposed model illustrates how the evacuation behavior of one can hinder others across different evacuation environments. Simulations show that evacuation time increases with the number of users when they are randomly located in a road tunnel.

  • 낙동강은 4대강 살리기 사업에 의해 8개의 보(상주보, 낙단보, 칠곡보, 강정보, 달성보, 합천보, 함안보)가 하천 내에 건설되고 약 4억톤의 준설이 실시되면서 지형적으로 막대한 변화를 맞이하게 된다. 낙동강은 상류의 안동댐 및 임하댐에서 방류수, 중류의 구미 및 대구 등의 오염원 그리고 하류의 남강에 의한 영향 및 낙동강 하구언에 의한 정체에 의한 영향으로 지역적으로 수질 및 수리 특성이 서로 다르게 나타나고 있다. 낙동강에 건설되는 수중보들 또한 이러한 유입 및 경계 조건에 따라 서로 다른 수질특성을 나타낼 것으로 판단되며 이에 대한 영향을 미리 예측하고 발생 가능한 악영향에 대한 대안을 수립하는 것이 중요하다고 본다. 본 연구에서는 낙동강의 4대강 사업에 의한 지점별 및 시기적 영향을 정확하게 분석하기 위해 3차원 수리동역학 모델 EFDC와 수질모델 WASP을 연계하여 사용하였다. 연구대상지역은 안동댐 방류지점에서 낙동강 하구역까지의 총 334km의 지역을 포함하였으며 하천의 폭 방향, 수심방향 및 흐름방향에 대하여 3차원으로 격자를 구성하여 하천을 표현하였다. 수리 및 수질 보정에 필요 한 입력자료는 국토해양부 및 환경부 등에서 발표 된 자료를 이용하였으며 2007년을 기준으로 모의를 실시하였다. 4대강 살리기 사업에 의한 8개의 보 건설 및 낙동강 전역의 준설의 영향을 예측하여 사업 전 및 사업 후로 각각 구분하여 비교하였으며 사업 후 체류시간의 증가와 준설로 인한 수심증가에 따른 복합적인 원인에 의해 수질에 영향이 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 사업 후 낙동강의 각 수중보 출구 부근 지점에서 예측된 수질 특성은 사업전에 비하여 $BOD_5$는 전반적으로 감소하나, TN 및 TP 는 유사한 특성을 나타내었다. 그러나 Chl-a 농도는 상류와 중류에서는 체류시간의 증가로 증가하는 경향을 나타내었으며 이는 수질이 양호한 상류 지역에서 특히 큰 차이를 나타내는 경향으로 분석되었다. 그러나 낙동강 하구언 지역은 Chl-a 농도가 사업에 의해 약간 감소되는 경향을 나타내어 여타 구간과 다른 경향을 나타내었다. 이는 낙동강 하류의 Chl-a 농도가 이미 매우 높은 상태에서 체류시간에 의한 성장 촉진 보다는 수심증가로 인한 광량제한 효과가 더욱 지배적으로 나타난 것에 의한 영향으로 추정된다.

  • The effect of water quality improvement of combined sewage by detention pond has been studied. It is convinced that the pollutant load and peak flow through the combined sewer by first rainfall and runoff can be decreased by detention pond sited at the outlet of small basin. Hydraulic modeling of detention panel was performed for two cases of sedimentation pond and gravel contact pond. It has been recognized that it is more efficient to reduce the pollutant of combined sewage when the combined sewage is released alter a fixed detention time in the detention pond than it is released continuously without detention time. The gravel contact detention pond shows higher pollutant removal rate than the sedimentation detention pond in all pollutants. When it comes to gravel contact detention pond, the gravel pond filled with crushed gravel has a higher pollutant removal rate than that filled with river gravel.

  • Wavelet transform has recently emerged as a promising technique for video processing applications due to its flexibility in representing non-stationary video signals. Motion estimation which uses wavelet transform of octave band division method is applied In many places but if motion estimation error happens in the lowest frequency band. motion estimation error is accumulated by next time strep and there has the Problem that time and the data amount that are cost In calculation at each steps are increased. On the other hand. wavelet packet that achieved the best image quality in a given bit rate from a rate-distortion sense is suggested. But, this method has the disadvantage of time costs on designing wavelet packet. In order to solve this problem we solved this problem by introducing Top_down method. But we did not find the optimum solution in a given butt rate. That image variance can represent image complexity is considered in this paper. In this paper. we propose a fast multiresolution motion estimation scheme based on the adaptive wavelet transform for video compression.

Development of Freeway Incident Duration Prediction Models (고속도로 돌발상황 지속시간 예측모형 개발)

  • Incident duration prediction is one of the most important steps of the overall incident management process. An accurate and reliable estimate of the incident duration can be the main difference between an effective incident management operation and an unacceptable one since, without the knowledge of such time durations, traffic impact can not be estimated or calculated. This research presents several multiple linear regression models for incident duration prediction using data consisting of 384 incident cases. The main source of various incident cases was the Traffic Incident Reports filled out by the Motorist Assistant Units of the Korea Highway Corporation. The models were proposed separately according to the time of day(daytime vs. nighttime) and the fatality/injury incurred (fatality/injury vs. property damage only). Two models using an integrated dataset, one with an intercept and the other without it, were also calibrated and proposed for the generality of model application. Some findings are as follows ; ?Variables such as vehicle turnover, load spills, the number of heavy vehicles involved and the number of blocked lanes were found to significantly affect incident duration times. ?Models, however, tend to overestimate the duration times when a dummy variable, load spill, is used. It was simply because several of load spill incidents had excessively long clearance times. The precision was improved when load spills were further categorized into "small spills" and "large spills" based on the size of vehicles involved. ?Variables such as the number of vehicles involved and the number of blocked lanes found not significant when a regression model was calibrated with an intercept. whereas excluding the intercept from the model structure signifies those variables in a statistical sense.

Determination of the Optimal Aggregation Interval Size of Individual Vehicle Travel Times Collected by DSRC in Interrupted Traffic Flow Section of National Highway (국도 단속류 구간에서 DSRC를 활용하여 수집한 개별차량 통행시간의 최적 수집 간격 결정 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the optimal aggregation interval to increase the reliability when estimating representative value of individual vehicle travel time collected by DSRC equipment in interrupted traffic flow section in National Highway. For this, we use the bimodal asymmetric distribution data, which is the distribution of the most representative individual vehicle travel time collected in the interrupted traffic flow section, and estimate the MSE(Mean Square Error) according to the variation of the aggregation interval of individual vehicle travel time, and determine the optimal aggregation interval. The estimation equation for the MSE estimation utilizes the maximum estimation error equation of t-distribution that can be used in asymmetric distribution. For the analysis of optimal aggregation interval size, the aggregation interval size of individual vehicle travel time was only 3 minutes or more apart from the aggregation interval size of 1-2 minutes in which the collection of data was normally lost due to the signal stop in the interrupted traffic flow section. The aggregation interval that causes the missing part in the data collection causes another error in the missing data correction process and is excluded. As a result, the optimal aggregation interval for the minimum MSE was 3~5 minutes. Considering both the efficiency of the system operation and the improvement of the reliability of calculation of the travel time, it is effective to operate the basic aggregation interval as 5 minutes as usual and to reduce the aggregation interval to 3 minutes in case of congestion.

Residence Time Variation by Operation of Sihwa Tidal Power Plant in Outer Sea of Sihwa Lake (시화호 조력발전소 운영에 의한 시화호 외측 해역에서의 체류시간 변화)

  • Numerical model with LPT (Lagrangian Particle Tracking) module was used to understand the variation of residence time in the outer sea of the Sihwa lake result operating from the Sihwa tidal power plant. Numerical model was composed in order to investigate the spatial distribution characteristics, the average residence time in each area was calculated by dividing the outer sea area of Sihwa lake into 4 areas. The average residence time of the areas appeared to be increase as it entered the areas located in the inner bay (13 days) from the area located in most outer sea (3 days) both before and during operation. Variation of average residence time by areas were increased in the area that was located in the most outer sea of during operation compared to before operation, and decreased in the other area. Artificial discharges from tidal power plant induces particle traps in the formation of vortex in the area located in the most outer seas, entrainment in the remaining areas, which affects variation in residence time. In other words, the jet flow generated during drainage and the change in the residence time due to the vortex and entrainment action indicate the increase horizontal mixing of water in the outer sea and in the inner bay.
