Through a qualitative analysis of the Ikuno Korean Festival in Osaka, this article examines and critiques how identities are constructed, and how this process is shaped by the mediation of intra and inter-community concerns. Particular attention is paid to the potential of reorganized culture through a thinking of similarity rather than difference. The dynamic interrelations suggest that festival provides a particular and informal public sphere wherein certain social logics and identities are contested. These discursive arenas are therefore marked by certain exclusions and inclusions. This study shows the complex process of identification at the micro-level through which identification is constituted and continuously negotiated.

Bays and caps represent the physical characteristics of Naepo area in Korea. And reclamation of tidal land presents a clue toward the understanding of regional identities and landscape changes in this area. Reclamation of tidal land in the Garorim bay that is representative of the physical geographies of Naepo area had trended toward 'the diffusion of salt ponds' during Joseon dynasty. Hereafter the Japanese imperialism, the reclamation had tumed to 'the reclamation of arable lands' by drainage. But, at the same time the land use of salt pond that had been the most appropriate strategy of adaptation for the ecological environments of this area has showed a sort of the geographical long-term durability. And the great landlords that had emerged during Japanese imperialism were the Yeom-han(鹽漢, laborers who engaged in salt production) in former times. They as a new local elites have played a leading role in the reclamation of tidal land and the making of regional landscape.

The purpose of this article is to examine Israeli intelligence activity which had contributed to the building of Israel and of its national identity. In the late 19th, the Jews scattered around the world had shared the image of victims shaped in the history of the persecution. In this process, intelligence activity was a staple factor which established the state of Israel; political and religious community. Fighting against Arabs, Israel's intelligence agents had played key role in migrating Jews to Palestine and building their own state. In other words, Intelligence activity was the instrument of implementing political Zionism, Jewish nationalism. Even after independence in 1948, despite the opposition of Arab, Israeli intelligence agencies had persuaded the United States and the Soviet Union to recognize Israel as a member of the international society. Arab countries, nevertheless, had regarded Israel as 'a state to be disappeared', and its national identity was totally denied. However, Israel officially gained recognition for statehood through Arab-Israeli war and summit talks with Egypt. Israel finally restored the 'Promised Land' that is recorded in the Bible and established its identity of a winner. In conclusion, Israeli intelligence agency played a decisive role in founding the nation and even forming the consciousness of the people.

경남지역 역사이래 구한말까지 지역중심도시였으나 근대화의 길에서 빗겨나간 1천년 역사도시 진주, 개화기부터 제3공화국까지 경남의 산업도시로서 지역발전에 중심역할을 다하고 있는 산업도시 마산, 그리고 정치적 결단으로 재빠르게 건설된 계획도시이며 경남도청소재지인 행정도시 창원. 각 도시가 살아온 배경이 너무나 다른 세 도시를 하나의 권역으로 묶어 논하기는 정말 어렵지만 경남 남부지역의 거점도시들로서 각 도시들이 띠고 있는 지역적 특성과 건축의 모습, 그리고 각 도시에서 지역적 특성들을 만들어내고 있는 지역건축가들을 개관한다. 아울러 경남 남부지역건축의 지역성은 가능한가에 대해 토론하며 지역의 정체성을 찾아보아 진주 ㆍ마산ㆍ창원으로 대표되는 경남남부 지역의 도시건축의 미래와 발전방향을 가름한다.

Place marketing strategy is an research or policy field of cultural politics on which various meanings, discourses and practices are deployed, contested and negotiated surrounding the development or destruction of urban cultures. So it is needed to correct and concrete understanding about the cultural significations of place marketing strategy. In that sense, this study aims to establish the concept and methodology of place marketing strategy as urban culture development strategy. At first, the theory of cultural politics of space and cultural political approach to the place marketing strategy are reviewed. And then, basic concept of place marketing strategy and the process of place marketing strategy are established. Finally, with drawing the cultual political factors(named SAUNE factors), the methodology of place marketing strategy is systematized.

Financial geography is an evolving subdiscipline in economic geography. This paper identifies and reviews three important 'waves' constitutive of the current state of financial geography: including the 'first' wave before 1990s when finance was regarded as a byproduct of the over-accumulation process in production sphere in the Marxist geographical political economy tradition; the 'second' wave in the mid-1990s during which financial geography was firmly established as a subdiscipline, influenced by the cultural turn and poststructuralist thoughts; and the most recent 'third' wave after the 2008~2009 global financial crisis that urged financial geographers to take power and politics more seriously and 're-politicize' with the analytical ideas of governmentality and financial subjectification from a neo-Foucauldian perspective. These waves have helped financial geography become a practice-oriented academic discourse, in which different philosophical thoughts, foci of analytical level and object, renditions of the subject, perceptions of power and politics, and geographies of finance and financialization coexist and also compete and contest one another.

This study attempts to analyze by the gender political point of view of the recent film, 'A Special Lady', focusing on the case of setting up women as the main characters in the 2000s Korean film noir genre. Concretely, this study conducted a narrative analysis focusing on the three elements of genre film, the identity of the characters and their family relationships, and the Oedipal trajectory. The film, 'A Special Lady', has the narrative about the maternal love assigned to female protagonist, and that emphasizes male pure love. And the film shows the flashbacks concerning to motherhood that prove the biological identity of the female protagonist, and signs that weaken the castration fear resulting from male voyeurism. Further, the film depicts the fragmentation of identity and the cracking of family relationships, revealing the confusion of gender identity and the narrative degeneration into family melodrama. Meanwhile, the film fails to complete the feminine Oedipal trajectory by reducing the female character's motherhood to a biological one instead of expanding it into an alternative quality embracing the other. These findings suggest that the korean gangster is closely related to gender politics and is not completely out of gender bias.

The purpose of this study is to explore in depth what is the identity of the community foundation, how it operates, and what difficulties it faces. For this purpose, this study conducted in-depth interviews with 5 practitioners working in community foundations. The results of the study are as follows. First, it is important for the participants to identify what their organizations are doing for the community rather than to distinguish them by their legal status. Second, community foundations recognize fundraising as an important achievement regardless of the type. Third, community foundations have experienced difficulties in raising funds, establishing community foundation identity, relationship with other nonprofit organizations in the area, citizen participation, organizational capacity and institutional instability. Therefore, as a policy alternative for community foundations, this study suggested that the establishment of identity and model of community foundation suited to Korean situation, the enhancement of capacity as intermediate support organizations, and the administrative and institutional support of government.

The aim of this article is to critically review the PRC's policies related to its minority nationalities with a special emphasis on the identification of minority nationalities(minzuzhibie) and the establishment of minority nationality autonomous regions(minzuzizhiquyu), as a part of national integration Process. In that Process, the intentional application of the criteria on nationality identification, the establishment of minority nationality autonomous regions, the population redistribution policies and the gerrymandering by the government played an important role in the deconstruction of traditional basis of identities and the territorialization of ethnicity. The goals of government have been the redefinition of 'Chinese', the the invention of 'Chinese nationality(zhongguominzu or zhonghuaminzu)'and the unification of its national territory. However, these have led to the unexpected result by creating the new ethnic-territorial identities along with the nationalities identified and the territories defined by the government.

The study of online social movements is basically concerned about the impact of the Internet on the existing social movements. More specifically, researchers have paid attention to changes in participants, leadership style and movement strategies caused by the Internet. Due to the Internet, networks of the individuals who are geographically scattered or a network of networks have emerged as new movement agents. Researchers have also analyzed a repertoire of collective action adopted by the online social movements. The increase in online social movements calls for a new interpretation of the existing social movement theories such as resource mobilization, collective identity and political opportunity structure. There are still a lot of debate about the impact of the internet on social movement and the resulting changes. Not only the early debate of cyber-optimism and cyber-scepticism, many studies done by the mid-range perspective also suggested different arguments on the impact of the Internet. This discrepancy comes from a relatively short history of online social movement study, which leads to a limited number of case studies and a shortage of date accumulations. In the future, researchers need to place more attention on the unique characteristics of different technologies and comparative studies of online social movements. The study should also extend its focus to a wide range of political systems in order to explain the impact of online social movements on political intermediary organizations and the democracy itself.
