  • The dynamic explicit finite element method and the static implicit finite element method are applied effectively to analyze total auto-body panel stamping processes, which include the forming stage , the trimming stage and the spring-back stage.\The explicit time integration method has better merits in the forming stage including highly complicated three-dimensional contact conditions. On the contrary, the implicit time integration method is better for analyzing spring-back since the complicated contact conditions are removed and the computing time to get the final static state is short. In this work, brief descriptions of the formulation and the factor study are presented. Further, the simulated results for the total auto-body panel stamping processes are shown and discussed. The formability and the weld line movement in stamping with Tailor Welded Blanks were investigated through QTR-OTR-FRT.

  • The characteristic of sheet metal process is the few loss of material during process, the short processing time and the excellent price and strength. Such press-forming process are the used machine ability and the characteristic, used material, the accuracy of the part which becomes processing and side condition of a process are considered and the designed. The purpose of this study is apply efficiently sheet metal forming processing by 3D formation-analyzed program simulations in the site. By a study, forming process was simulation to drawing and trimming and cam process using static-implicit method software. By making apply this to an industrial site the productivity improvement and cost reduction etc. effect able was predicted.

  • The AutoForm previously used the membrane element and it accomplished sheet metal forming analysis. The membrane analysis has been widely applied to various sheet metal forming processes because of its saving time effectiveness. However, it's well known that the membrane analysis can not provides correct information for the processes which considerable bending effects. From this time research it tried to compare the formation analysis result which uses the shell element which is applied newly in the AutoForm and actual products. The shell element is compromise method between continuum analysis and membrane analysis. The Finite element method by using shell element is the most economical numerical method. From analysis results, FEA by using shell element can estimate accurately the problems happened in actual auto-body panel.

  • Sheet metal forming is one of the most useful and important method in manufacturing of the autobody panels because of the excellent production rate. The objectives of sheet metal forming processes are getting a desired geometrical shape of products with good quality, low cost and reasonable lead time. In this paper, we examined the validity of finite element method analysis on the automobile FRT-PLR-L/R stamping process by using the lancing engineering method. Lancing is a press operation in which a single-line cut or slit is made on part way across the strip stock, without removing any metal. As a result, it has shown that the proper lancing engineering method could prevent fracturing by improving sheet metal flow.
