Objectives : This study was to evaluate sleep patterns and daytime sleepiness resulting from rotating shiftwork. The authors, also, tried to find out the relationship between the severity of daytime sleepiness and personality factors. Methods : The subjects consisted of 41 female rotating shiftwork nurses and the control group consisted of 39 female day timeworkers. All of them completed the Sleep questionnaire of Korea University Sleep Disorder Clinic, the Epworth Sleepiness Scale(ESS), the 16 Personality Factors(16PF), the Beck Depression Inventory(BDI) and the State Trait Anxiety Inventory(STAI). Multiple regression analysis of 16PF of the rotating shiftwork nurses was done to find out possible predictors of the severity of daytime sleepiness. Results : The mean duration of deprived sleep due to rotating shiftwork was $64.26\;{\pm}\;14.54\;min$. The frequency of sleep difficulty($1.24\;{\pm}\;1.17\;day/week$ vs $0.67\;{\pm}\;1.31\;day/week$, p < 0.05), time needed to fall asleep($103.05\;{\pm}\;73.48\;min$. vs $70.00\;{\pm}\;60.08\;min$, p < 0.05), sleep duration when having some difficulties in sleep ($204.25\;{\pm}\;79.90\;min$. vs $280.44\;{\pm}\;111.59\;min$., p < 0.001), recent changes in energy($x^2\;=\;4.16$, p < 0.05), worrying about sleep($x^2\;=\;11.08$, p < 0.05), and taking naps($x^2\;=\;4.98$, p < 0.05) showed significant differences between rotating shiftworkers and normal controls. The ESS socre of shiftworkers ($8.68\;{\pm}\;3.04$) was greater than that of normal controls ($6.86\;{\pm}\;3.04$)(p < 0.01). Personality factors such as C factor($R^2\;=0.283$), I factor($R^2\;=0.358$) and G factor($R^2\;=0.470$) were related with the severity of the daytime sleepiness(p < 0.001). Conclusions : The rotating shiftwork nurses had more difficulties in sleep such as having difficulties in falling asleep and in maintaining sleep, and showed lowered energy, decreased senses of well-being and so on. The rotating shiftwork nurses experienced more severe daytime sleepiness than controls did. Personality factors, such as C factor, I factor, and G factor of 16PF were suggested to be useful for predicting the severity of daytime sleepiness resulting from rotating shiftwork.

A theme park is not just a recreational space for leisure activities, but also a place of storytelling as collected around abstract boundaries called themes. These stories are 'a space that tells the meaning' that the visitor is looking for and the Robot Land space offers robots, humans, and nature. This study is a description of the design strategy and content of the work which was elected as a subject of the subsequent rank negotiation of the Masan Robot Land design contest for the selection of a private contractor. The focus of the plan is, first, the organizational power of each space and the delivery power of a theme for the history of revisits, which might be considered depending on whether or not the theme park has been successful in the visitor's mind. Second, it is to actively use the potential of Masan, which is not only the key hub of the mechanical industry but also has beautiful coastal resources. First, they created a space that can flexibly react depending on the user's desire and the change of form, minimizing environmental damage by using a linear metabolism that can provide an amalgam of the elemental characteristics of robots, humans, and nature as motifs. They introduced a planting plan for the admissions square, an existing forest, slope, vacation spot, the inside of a complex, and Eco Island, etc. by utilizing symbolic meaning and adjusting to the spatial characteristics of each space. In addition, they sought a detailed space by setting up zones tailored to the use and character of the subject area, having exhibitions and education about robots, vacation facilities for lodgers, various recreational and commercial facilities, and space for utopian gardens as themes. They planned Masan Robot Land to be a true cultural space that creates mental richness on the basis of not only the economical effects but also local emotion.

This study is on the creation of floral art works based on the intuitive insight acquired by methodological process of ruminating the experienced meaningful events of the artists utilizing sensible perception. The researcher used the narration and visualization techniques. The narration process adopted the writing technique of subjective impression, emotion, stream of consciousness to capture sensations of subconscious state, which were applied in three steps of 'the exploration of experiences', 'the concretion of experiences', and 'the creation of meaning out of experiences'. The visualization process adopted collection, selection, classification, and interpretation of related images, which were applied in three methods of 'the creation of images', 'the utilization of intuition', and 'the perception through remembering'. Finally 5 art works of 'Hammock is Good', 'At the Rooftop with Warm Sunshine', 'Standing at the Waterside Alone', 'Dizziness at Hot Sand Field', and 'Having Good Time at a Botanical Garden'were created through the combination of these two methods mentioned above and complementary research and writing. The meaningfulness of this research lies in presenting methodological approaches of utilizing narration and visualization of experiences in art creation process.
This paper examines the changes in family values in Korea by examining values of children, socialization values, and social support of elderly parents with young and olders mothers. A total of 314 mothers of infants (young mothers) and 395 mothers of adolescents (older mothers) completed a questionnaire compiled by Schwarz, Chakkarath, Trommsdorff, Schwenk and Nauck(2001) comprising of values of children, cultural values, socialization values, interpersonal relationship, social support, stress, and life-satisfaction. In terms of values of children, the older mothers are more likely to emphasize social values, such as continuing the family line. Young mothers are more likely to emphasize psychological values, such as the pleasure of seeing a child grow. As for reasons for net wanting to have children, young mothers are more likely to point out personal constraints than older mothers, such as restriction of freedom. Second, older mothers are more likely than young mothers to express willingness to provide support for their children and even when their children become adults. Older mothers had a more lenient expectation of their children in terms developmental timetable and to expect support from their children when compared with young mothers. Young mothers are more likely to socialize their children with greater warmth and at the same time have higher child-rearing stress when compared to older mothers. Third, when compared with older mothers, young mothers are more likely to receive practical and emotional support from their parents. On the other hand, older mothers are more likely to provide greater practical and emotional support to their parents than the young mothers. Overall, compared to young mothers, older mothers are more likely to hold traditional and conservative values of children and socialization values. These contrasting values reflect the changes in family structure and social change that have been progressing rapidly in recent years.
The purpose of this study is to explore and understand the meaning of 'Good Death' that the Korean aged people are generally thinking based on their values and the sentiments. For this purpose, we carried out individual and in-depth interviews with 40 aged persons living in Seoul taking their genders and social-economic status into consideration from March to May 2003. We applied qualitative research method to this study. Eight graduate students were responsible for the interviews. They majored in gerontology or had experiences of field work with old persons. It took an average of one and a half hour and maximum of two hours for each of the interviews. All of the processes of each interview were tape-recorded under the agreement with each interviewee. The main and sub themes from the data can be classified to seven categories according to the Phenomenological Approach designed by Colaizzi(1978). The main theme of good death that most of the interviewees considered was 'Blessed Death', very similar to 'Death Fortune' in the five good fortunes found in Korean tradition and the Confucianism. Also, the main concept is classified to seven sub-themes: (1) Not seeing their children's death; (2) Dying in front of their children; (3) Not to be a burden of their children during their lives; (4) Dying after doing all of their duties as parents; (5) Dying with no pain; (6) Completing the natural span of their lives; and (7) Prepared death. Thus, 'Blessed Death' that Korean aged people consider seems to be very closely related with the lives, health, happiness and success of their children. Based on the findings, we concluded that both social policy makers and social service providers are required to keep in mind the meanings of 'Good death' that most of the Korean aged people consider in order to help them enjoy successful aging during their remaining lives.
After the enactment of the Local Culture Promotion Act in 2014, the government has been continuously trying to find the direction of the local culture that reflects the local life and conforms to the local people's emotions. In response to these efforts, the Organizing Committee for the C Region Biennale has uniquely formed the Biennale Artistic Director as a local artist who includes the historical, ecological and emotional characteristics of the C region. Therefore, I sought to explore the perception of the identity and role of the local cultural arts director through the narratives of the research participants who were appointed as the local residents of the C region and the director of the Craft Biennale. For the study, six local cultural arts directors were selected as research participants, and their identity as a local cultural arts director and its role were explored, focusing on their narratives. In this process, various types of data such as photographs, documents, in - depth interviews, and conference materials were collected and narrative was analyzed based on deterministic events. The results of the investigation are as follows. The idea of the identity of the local cultural arts directors was found to be in three directions. First, it is the view that the symbolic role of the artistic supervisory system of the 10 persons guarantees the identity. Second, the identity of local cultural arts directors was recognized as a role to find ways to be localized by developing and debating cultural and artistic discourses in various regions. Third, the participants had a concern and affection for local cultural arts, not one-time but continuous, and recognized it as their identity. The directors who participated in the interviews showed that the discourse of cultural arts in various regions were developed and discussed, and they wanted to find ways to be localized. The roles of local cultural arts directors recognized by research participants in connection with their identity are as follows. First, it should be the subject of systematic and long-term planning that can close the year and connect with the art events of the following year. Second, it should play a role of academic / research that can derive the identity of social and cultural ecological analysis connected with the area. Third, local arts professionals are required to act as cultural brokers, ie local culture professionals, who can create a venue for international cultural exchanges. Research on the form of local government supervision as a mediator of local cultural arts is to find out the origin of the identity of local artists and to establish a methodology for the direction of culture and art as a subject of local people. In addition, there is a need for continued interest and research in providing a reflection on the communication and meaning of the desirable local culture, and suggesting the system for cultivating local cultural arts intermediaries.

This study is intended to look into the effects of children's forest experience activities on parent-child relationship and child attitude change. To achieve this, a survey was empirically carried out to 185 children. The results were as follows. First, the normality of parent-child relationship before and after forest experience activities showed that the parent-child relationship increased from 3.229 points before participation in forest experience activities to 3.841 points after participation in forest experience activities on average. And the child attitude increased from 3.226 points before participation in forest experience activities to 3.765 points after participation in forest experience activities, which there was a change of mean value before and after forest experience activities in both concepts. Second, the difference in parent-child relationship and child attitude change before and after forest experience activities showed that both parent-child relationship(Z=-10.98, p<.001) and child attitude(Z=-11.05, p<.001) did have significant differences before and after forest experience activities in the significant level of .05. As for the above-mentioned findings, children's forest experience activities improves the parent-child relationship and changes their behaviors outside the kindergarten. Consequently, nature-friendly forest experience education can provide emotional stability for children and help them build a positive rapport between teacher, parent and peer.
Purpose: This study is to explore the relationships among spirituality, death anxiety and burnout level of nurses caring for cancer patients. Methods: Participants were 210 nurses from a cancer hospital in Seoul. Data were collected from April until June 2012 and analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe's test, and Pearson's correlation coefficient. Results: The mean score for spirituality was 3.51 out of six. Among sub-categories, the one that scored the highest was the purpose and meaning of life, followed by unifying interconnectedness, inner resources and transcendence. The mean score for death anxiety was 3.22, and the sub-categories in the order of high score were denial of death, awareness of the shortness of time, pure death anxiety and fear of matters related to death. For the burnout, the mean was 4.10. Among sub-categories, highest mark was found with emotional exhaustion, followed by depersonalization and personal accomplishment. The spirituality level was negatively correlated with those of death anxiety and burnout. Death anxiety was positively correlated with burnout levels. Nurses with the higher spirituality level also had a higher level of education and experience of spiritual education, believed in the existence of God. In contrast, death anxiety and burnout levels were higher among those with a lower level of education, atheists, and for those who answered that religion has little influence on life. Conclusion: Thus, it is necessary to provide spiritual interventions for nurses who care for cancer patients to develop their spirituality, reduce death anxiety and prevent them from burning out easily.
