  • The design of large complex mechanical systems, such as automobile, aircraft, and ship, is a kind of Multidisciplinary Design Optimization (MDO) because it requires both experience and expertise in many areas. With the rapid development of technology and the demand to improve human convenience, the complexity of these systems is increasing further. The design of such a complex system requires an integrated system design, i.e., MDO, which can fuse not only domain-specific knowledge but also knowledge, experience, and perspectives in various fields. In the past, the MDO relied heavily on the designer's intuition and experience, making it less efficient in terms of accuracy and time efficiency. Process integration and the design optimization framework mainly support MDO owing to the evolution of IT technology. This paper examined the procedure and methods to implement an efficient MDO with reasonable effort and time using RCE, an open-source PIDO framework. As a benchmarking example, the authors applied the proposed MDO methodology to a bulk carrier's conceptual design synthesis model. The validity of this proposed MDO methodology was determined by visual analysis of the Pareto optimal solutions.

  • The natives of the genus Corbicula have shown worldwide dispersion in recent times, which has caused great ecological and economic impacts on the introduced ecosystems. The species reported from the genus have been consumed as food and explored for medicine with pharmacological activity. Consequently, the demand of Corbicula sp. in the South Korean domestic market has increased and so also it's associated import to the country. However, due to the absence of identification keys of imported Corbicula, the market is facing confronting situations. We hypothesized that the mitochondrial Cytochrome Oxidase I gene (CO-I) based molecular profiling could be a necessary technique for identification of Corbicula sp. in the South Korea domestic market. The genetic analysis identified both Corbicula japonica and Corbicula fluminea from the market foods. C. japonica and C. fluminea are inhabitants in Korea, but C. fluminea production has decreased in Seomjingang river basin. Therefore, C. fluminea identified from this study, is expected to be imported from China and would have a mixed sales in Seomjingang river side basin.

  • In this study, for a proposal of job-based IMDG code expert training model, the training cases of other countries were analyzed comparatively and a questionnaire-survey was conducted to find the needs of workers. As results of comparative analysis, various curriculums were operated by jobs of workers in USA and by kinds of dangerous goods or vehicles in UK, but a common curriculum was provided for various jobs of workers in Korea. It was analyzed that current domestic curriculum is not efficient, and the respondents demand expansion of training including provision of information via web-site as results of questionnaire survey. Therefore, in conclusion, after the shore workers were classified into three groups(on-site worker, office worker, & carrying worker), the customized training program of each group was suggested. Furthermore, this study proposed the regional operation of training course to meet regional demand on education including establishment of on-line curriculums.

  • We analysed the old automatic clock and time signal system that was used by the national astronomical agency in East Asian Area. Jagyeongnu is a kind of water clock that was operated by the flowing water in Joseon Dynasty. Seowoongwan managed the water clock so as to keep the standard time system in the dynasty from the 16th year (1434) of King Sejong's reign. In 1438 the Okru that was invented in the period. Such kind of clock system already was used in China, which was Shui $y\ddot{u}n$ i hsiang t'ai (水運儀象壹) in 1092. During the period Joseon Dynasty, China and Japan had been kept the time system that one day is divided into 12 shin (12辰) or 100 gak (刻). However detailed part of the system had a little difference among the three countries. Though the whole system of water clock in Joseon had manufactured on the basis of Chinese, it had been gradually developed by own method and idea. In this study we show the historical records of the standard time keeping system in East Asian history. And then we can inform materials on the structure and functional devises for the purpose of new restoration models about the automatic clock and time system.

  • This study, centered on public institutions that introduced and are using Knowledge Management System(KMS), is a study of affecting influence factors for utilization and satisfaction. In case of public institutions, they introduced in earnest knowledge management system starting second half of 1999 and most branches of the government such as Department of Defence, Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs and Ministry of Planning and Budget have laid the foundation and been managing the system. As a result understanding convenience and need of knowledge management system and awareness for importance of knowledge asset are proliferating. But there is a lot of difference in utilization of KMS by work unit and also can find that the difference exists among users in terms of satisfaction. This is expected as having influence from chief officer's concern, support of exclusively responsible personnel factor, whether education training was given, KM process support etc. for KMS. Therefore this study draws subordinate factors of organization characteristic, knowledge information characteristic, strategy characteristic as influence factors to KMS and analyzes how these subordinate factors influence utilization and satisfaction of KMS to suggest a way to catalyze knowledge management system in the future.

  • Proximate composition, cholesterol (CHOL) and $\alpha-tocopherol$ ($\alpha-Toc$) content of seventy-two species of fish muscle (sea water fish, 59 species; fresh water fish, 13 species), which caught off Tongyeong coast of the Southern Sea ( Nam-Hae) and caught Kyeongho river, Sancheong, Korea, were determined. Lipid content was ranked from $0.53\%$ to $20.4\%$ and was high in the following order; mid-surface dwelling and migratory fish ($6.09{\pm}4.25\%$) > fresh water fish ($4.40{\pm}5.90\%$) > coastal and reep dwelling fish ($3.41{\pm}2.68\%$) > demersal fish ($2.12{\pm}2.41\%$). There was a negative correlation between the lipid and moisture content in all fish groups (p< 0.001). Protein was approximately $17\~18\%$ in all fish group, and no correlation was between the protein and moisture content in all but the demersal fish, which there was a negative correlation between both contents. Ash content was almost constant in all fish, accounting for $1\~2\%$, Cholesterol (CHOL) content was shown a great difference according to the fish species from 6.7 mg/100 g muscle (grass fish) to 249 mg/100 g (eel) and there was a positive correlation between the lipid and CHOL content. $\alpha-Toc$ content was less than 3 mg/100 g muscle in all fish, except that of eel (4.1 mg/100 g) and was relatively rich in the fish species contained a large amount of lipid.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the degree of mimetic purchase on product satisfaction. In addition the present study aims to investigate the moderating role of the self esteem and public self in the relationship between mimetic purchase and product satisfaction. Taken together, hypothesis 1 is as in the following. H1 : As the degree of mimetic purchase increases, product satisfaction will increase. To reveal the moderating role of the self esteem and public self in this path, 2 research hypotheses are derived as follows: H2 : The effect of mimetic purchase on product satisfaction is moderated by self esteem. H3 : The effect of mimetic purchase on product satisfaction is moderated by public self. Results from an empirical study showed that as the degree of mimetic purchase increases, product satisfaction increase. Thus, H1 is fully supported. And the results showed that the first interaction effect(H2) between the mimetic purchase and the self esteem is significant. Thus, H2 is also supported. But the second interaction effect(H3) has been shown to be not significant.

  • Recently innovation cluster has been emphasized as a valid policy measure for innovation. For suggesting a new model of innovation cluster, we conducted literature review for the theories of regional innovation system(RIS) and innovation clusters. As a result, the success factors of innovation cluster were classified into system measures, physical measures, and social(human resources) measures from the perspective of RIS. The case of Gyeonggi province's innovation cluster policy was examined for an empirical analysis. For an in-depth analysis, a survey for the tenant companies in Pangyo technovalley(PTV) was conducted. As a result, it was found that Gyeonggi province's innovation cluster policy is evolving from 'a government-initiated system' to 'the 3rd-generation convergence RIS' and that PTV is closely related to the system measures of 'support for up-to-date management and technology information' and 'support for academic-research-industry cooperative research and technological cooperation,' physical measures of 'strengthening the function of PTV support division' and 'shared research equipment and other infrastructures,' and social measures of 'legal, financial, and administrative support system' and 'public childcare facilities'. Also, technology sector was divided into IT and non-IT for a validity check to find out that there was no significant difference in all factors, except for the public relations factors. This study is expected to provide resources for other related researches.

  • Severe congenital heart disease (CHD) is a chronic disease requiring continuous and holistic health management to improve patients' quality of life. This study explored the health management experiences of adolescents with severe CHDs in Korea. On the basis of in-depth interviews with nine youths, four categories and 12 subcategories were identified. The participants lacked a full understanding of their health status and the need for appropriate health management for their health status. Nonetheless, they practiced health management to some extent, in ways that were affected by heart function, self-identity, and social support. Although adolescents with severe CHDs were affected by physical limitations and the discriminatory gaze around them, they tried to achieve normalcy through managing information, seeking homogeneity with peers, and fostering positive acceptance about their disease. Regarding demands for health management programs, disease knowledge and mental health content were preferred, and the preferred delivery methods were self-help group camps and smartphone applications. Based on the results of this study, we suggest a health management intervention to promote a healthy transition to adulthood for adolescents with severe CHDs, and that policy-makers should consider measures that would enable a successful transition to adulthood in the future of youth with severe CHDs.

  • This study proposed a new optimization-based decision model for an enterprise resource planning and production scheduling of a pharmaceutical intermediates manufacturing plant. To do this work, we first define the inflow and outflow information as well as the model structure, and develop an optimization model to minimize the production time (i.e., makespan) using a mixed integer linear programing (MILP). The unique feature of the proposed model is that the optimal process scheduling is established based on real-time resource logistics information using a radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, thereby theoretically requiring no material inventories. essential information for process operation, such as the required amount of raw materials and estimated arrival timing to manufacturing plant, is used as logistics constraints in the optimization model to yield the optimal manufacturing scheduling to satisfy final production demands. We illustrated the capability of the proposed decision model by applying the optimization model to two scheduling problems in a real pharmaceutical intermediates manufacturing process. As a result, the optimal production schedule and raw materials order timing were identified to minimize the makespan while satisfying all the product demands.
