The Relationship between Major Subjects of Information & Communication Department and Mathematics in Technical High School, Busan metropolitan city (부산광역시 공업계 고등학교 정보 통신과의 전문 교과와 수학 교과의 연관성)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose the new direction in the curriculum and framework of information & communication department in technical high schools through analyzing the propriety of curriculum contents, the relationship among the subjects and the time difference in major subjects and mathematics, respectively. The main results of this study are as follows: (1) The common curriculum to include the number of selective and major subjects were different according to the curriculum and studying hours in each school. The differences were caused by the results of managing the curriculum by which was considered characteristics of schools, department and so on. (2) Mathematical contents are evenly found in 3 units in general communication subjects. The mathematical factors are shown similarly in every item in mathematics10-A, mathematics10-B, and mathematics I. The mathematical contents are found most frequently by 41.2% in the communication basis unit, also there were four items which do not exist in the technical high school mathematics. (3) Mathematical contents are evenly found in every unit of electron circuit subject. The mathematical factors in mathematics10-A are shown more than in mathematics I by 8 items. Mathematical contents are found most frequently in the amplification circuit unit by 22.2% of the electron circuit subject.

A Comparative Study on the Curriculum of Graduate Schools of Archival Sciences in Korea and the Foreign Countries (국내외 기록관리학 대학원 교육과정에 관한 비교 연구)

  • This study examined the curriculum of 23 graduate schools of archival sciences in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia and 25 graduate schools of archival sciences in Korea, and compared core knowledge categories. The average number of courses in Korea and other countries was similar, but each university in other countries set required courses, and few in Korea. As a result of comparison by knowledge category, all knowledge categories in North America were opened as individual courses, while the UK and Australia did not open knowledge categories of outreach, instruction, advocacy, and knowledge categories of professionalism separately. In Korea, the category of outreach, instruction, advocacy, the knowledge category of professionalism, and the knowledge category of information technology have not been established separately, while courses related to history and administration are subdivided. In order to reform the archival science education in Korea, the knowledge categories for archival professionals should be prepared and the guidelines and certification standards for the education should be established.

A Study on the Archives and Records Management Programs in the Schools of Library and Information Science in the U.S.A. (미국 문헌정보학 대학원의 기록관리학 교육과정에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify several factors necessary to the curriculum development of the archives and records management in Korea by analyzing archival programs of to Schools of Library and Information Science(SLIS) in the U.S.A. Name of the schools, programs and their degrees, credits, required and elective courses, practice, research, facilities, and SAA guidelines of graduate archival programs are compared by analyzing websites and the literature review. There are a few LIS schools that concentrate archival education and most of the archival programs don't cover all of the core archival knowledge suggested in the LIS schools. In conclusion, the core curriculum of archival science should include history and preservation of archives, archives and records management, information technology, management principles, practicum, and research/ thesis. And a lot of cooperated research and conversation between educational institutions and practical fields are required.

Designing Content Elements of the Programming Curriculum as a Instrumental Subject for Gifted Science High School (과학영재 고등학교 도구교과로서의 프로그래밍 교육과정 내용요소 설계)

  • In this study, contents of programming curriculum were designed as instrumental subjects for scientifically gifted students, not for IT gifted ones. Firstly, the programming curriculum consisted of 3 sections; Programming Understanding, Object-Oriented Programming, and Simulation Programming as a result of two semesters. Then, the lectures including project-based and problem-solving tasks were given to scientifically gifted students in a high school during one semester to verify whether they could apply the contents to studies and researches in math or science or not. As a result of this study, the students could improve numerical analysis and simulation program development capabilities in math or science as well as the problem-solving ability based on computational thinking. Moreover, it was proved that the students changed their perception about programing learning. They started to think that programing learning was necessary to studies and researches in math or science. The results of this study propose guideline to design programming curriculum as instrumental subjects for scientifically gifted students.

  • ABEEK, an independent non-governmental organization, is the recognized accreditor for the educational programs in engineering and related disciplines. ABEEK has developed the standard accreditation criteria to meet diverse needs of the engineering and related communities in Korea. A student attending at the accredited program has to complete the required courses and elective courses according to the curriculum flowchart to meet the accreditation criteria for a bachelor. Therefore an efficient and effective tool is necessary to support the adviser to monitor the completion of the required courses and elective courses according to the curriculum flowchart. In this paper, we describe an adviser tool developed. To develop an adviser tool. we established databases which contain the information of courses and their relations according to the curriculum flowchart. Adviser tool was developed to analyze student's DegreeAudit and represent the current completion information on the curriculum flowchart for effective monitoring. A closed test was performed and showed the increase of efficiency to meet the accreditation criteria for a bachelor.

A Study on Curriculum Analysis and Awareness of the Development of Standard Curriculum for Library Information Science in Korea (국내 문헌정보학 표준교육과정 개발을 위한 교과과정 분석 및 인식 조사 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose considerations prior to the development of a standard curriculum for Library and Information Science that secures the objectivity and reliability of the curriculum nationally. To this end, first, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's notification related to NCS job units and librarian qualification standards in the field of Library and Information Science was reviewed. Second, The current status was investigated and analyzed by investigating and analyzing the courses opened in Library and Information Science nationwide. Third, surveys and focus interviews were conducted on librarians and information experts. The implications from the analysis results are as follows. Among the Library and Information Science departments opened in 2021, the field with the highest number of subjects was "information service," and it was confirmed that the most frequently derived keyword was "information." The survey results were analyzed through IPA analysis and Borich demand analysis, and the top priority required subjects for each grade were derived. As a result of investigating the opinions of librarians and information experts in the field through surveys and focus interviews, it was confirmed that Korean Library and Information Science education should be conducted not only in standardization but also in parallel with the operation of specialized subjects that can cover various users.

A Study on the Course Development for Librarians' Continuing Education to Build up Multicultural Competencies in Library Services (사서 대상 도서관 다문화서비스 교육과정의 교과목에 관한 연구)

  • The research aims to develop the courses for librarians' continuing education to build up multicultural competencies in library services. In order to achieve the purpose, the study designed the research processes as followings: first, multicultural environment analyses with various materials such as statistics or national reports; second, librarians' and multicultural users' needs analyses of multicultural library services and library works; third, job competency analyses through reviewing related laws, rules, guidelines for library multicultural services, etc. On the basis of the results from the three-step analysis phases, the study deducted the candidate courses for librarians' multicultural education. After testing validity of the candidate courses by expert panels on library multicultural services, the research suggested the final 16 courses and follow-up research projects for designing and implementing the suggested courses in real class fields.

An Analysis of Software Curriculum of Korean Elementary Teacher Education School (한국 초등교사 양성기관의 소프트웨어 교육과정 분석)

  • Software education is highly needed to train talent in the fourth industrial age. In order to emphasize the importance of software education. In recognition of the importance of software education, Korea decided to implement 17 hours of software education in elementary school from 2019 in the revised education curriculums in 2015. Because all teachers in elementary school have to be able to teach software, the government is carrying out systematic training for teachers. It is necessary to analyze the curriculum for preparing the software education at the university that educates teachers The results of this study show that subject education curriculums for software education are 1.64 hour in 11 educational universities and contents of education are composed of computer general education. In this software curriculum, it is not possible to educate teachers who can teach software education in universities that educate elementary teachers in Korea. Therefore, in order to develop the ability of preliminary teachers to educate software, curriculum of education college should be conducted for 5 hours or more similar to other subjects, and education content should be composed of teaching and learning methods for software education.

Inquisitive Tendency Comparative Analysis on the 'Education with Robots' Units in the 2015 Revised Practical Arts Textbook (2015 개정 실과 교과서 '로봇 활용 교육' 단원 탐구성 비교 분석)

  • This paper analyzed 'Education with Robots' of the Practical Arts unit among the six textbooks developed under the 2015 revised curriculum, and provided implications for selection of textbooks, researching curriculum, and developing the next textbook. As a result of analyzing the prior study, it was found that the inquiry analysis was insufficient in the elementary school 'Education with Robots' unit. On the contrary, in the middle and high school textbooks research were sufficient. Therefore, we analyzed the contents of the textbook using the Romey analysis method, judging that our children who will live in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution need an inquiry type textbook. As a result of analyzing textbooks, there was no ideal textbook with an inquisitive disposition in all analysis elements, and in all textbooks, the analysis element with the lowest inquiry disposition was the text, and the highest analysis element was activity.
